Austin Wells NYY C
Yankees' Austin Wells: Belts first big-league long ball
1h agoWells went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Wells accounted for New York's only extra-base hits in the loss, and his ninth-inning homer was the only thing that prevented the team from getting shut out. The long ball was the backstop's first in the big leagues, and this was the first time he's had more than one hit in a game. Wells has found the going tough at the plate in his first cup of coffee with the Yankees, slashing .163/.196/.326 with a 2:11 BB:K over 46 plate appearances thus far.
-
Michael King NYY RP
Yankees' Michael King: Racks up career-best 13 punchouts
1h agoKing (4-7) took the loss against Toronto on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and no walks while striking out 13 batters over seven innings.
Though he was tagged with the loss due to a stagnant New York offense, King pitched arguably his best game as a major-leaguer, tallying a career-best strikeout total and racking up 16 whiffs over seven frames. The only run he allowed came when Bo Bichette reached on a two-out infield single to knock in Kevin Kiermaier in the third inning. King has been a strikeout machine over his past three outings, posting a 30:2 K:BB along with a 1.62 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 16.2 innings. It would be an understatement to say that his late-season transition to the rotation has gone well, and King could be setting himself up for a full-time role as a starter in 2024 with his recent outstanding run.

Kevin Gausman TOR SP
Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Fans 10 in victory
1h agoGausman (12-9) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing three hits and walking three batters over six scoreless innings. He struck out 10.
Gausman was dominant in the victory, racking up 17 swinging strikes en route to his ninth double-digit punchout effort of the campaign. The right-hander's sixth strikeout of the game gave him a new career-best single-season total, surpassing the mark he set with San Francisco in 2021. Gausman ranks second in the majors with 232 punchouts and has complemented that total with a 3.29 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 178 innings.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
Angels' Brandon Drury: Knocks in five runs in victory
2h agoDrury went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in an 8-3 win against the Rays on Wednesday.
Drury was responsible for the majority of Los Angeles' run production in the victory, knocking a three-run homer in the second inning and a two-run shot in the sixth. It was the third multi-homer performance of the campaign for the veteran infielder, who is up to 23 long balls and 75 RBI over 115 contests on the season. Drury had been struggling coming into Wednesday, slashing .164/.271/.377 over his first 16 contests in September.
-
Aaron Civale TB SP
Rays' Aaron Civale: Lasts just three frames in loss
2h agoCivale (7-4) took the loss against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over three innings.
Civale fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and gave up four more runs in the second. Though he bounced back to strike out three batters in a scoreless third, the right-hander wasn't allowed to return for the fourth. This was Civale's shortest outing of the campaign and snapped his streak of seven straight starts of at least five frames. One positive takeaway is that Civale continued his recent strikeout binge -- he's compiled 44 punchouts over his past 28.1 frames covering six starts.
-
Reid Detmers LAA SP
Angels' Reid Detmers: Logs seven punchouts in four frames
2h agoDetmers allowed an unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over four innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Detmers was scratched from his previous projected start Sunday due to an illness, but he recovered enough to take the mound Wednesday. The southpaw's short outing didn't appear to be due to any lingering effects, nor did he pitch poorly -- the only run Detmers allowed was largely due to an error behind him in the third frame. However, the hurler needed 96 pitches to complete his four innings, as the Rays fouled off a hefty 27 balls against him. That prevented Detmers from qualifying for the win, though he still made a strong impact in fantasy with his second straight seven-strikeout performance.

Willson Contreras STL C
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Exits with wrist injury
7h agoContreras was removed from Wednesday's game against the Brewers due to left wrist discomfort.
Contreras' wrist had been bothering him heading into Wednesday's game and ultimately caused him to make an early exit in the sixth inning. The Cardinals may hold Contreras out for a day or two so he can properly recover, but an extended absence likely won't be necessary.
-
Jake Rogers DET C
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Takes seat Wednesday
10h agoRogers is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Carson Kelly will start at catcher and bat ninth for the visiting Tigers. Rogers went 2-for-8 with a homer and three RBI across the first two games of the three-game series.
-
Will Smith LAD C
Dodgers' Will Smith: Gets breather Wednesday
10h agoSmith is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers.
This appears to be a routine day of rest for Smith, who started behind the plate in the first two games of the Dodgers' three-game set versus Detroit. Austin Barnes will catch and bat ninth in Wednesday's series finale.
-
Endy Rodriguez PIT C
Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: On bench versus lefty
12h agoRodriguez is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Cubs.
Jason Delay will start behind the plate and bat ninth as the Pirates take on ace left-hander Justin Steele. The switch-hitting Rodriguez has gone 7-for-47 (.149) with zero extra-base hits this year against southpaws.
-
Rene Pinto TB C
Rays' Rene Pinto: Receives Wednesday off
12h agoPinto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Pinto has operated as Tampa Bay's primary backstop over the past couple weeks and has an .846 OPS over 39 at-bats in September, but he'll head to the bench for Wednesday's contest. Christian Bethancourt will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.
-
Josh Bell MIA 1B
Marlins' Josh Bell: Snaps homer drought Wednesday
2h agoBell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday.
Bell accounted for half of Miami's scoring output with his 417-foot solo shot in the sixth inning. The veteran slugger had gone 14 games without a long ball prior to the blast, slashing .216/.273/.255 with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate over the cold stretch. He's slowed down quite a bit after slamming eight home runs over his first 26 contests as a Marlin.
-
LaMonte Wade SF 1B
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Produces lone run with homer
5h agoWade went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Wade took the fifth pitch of the game from Merrill Kelly over the right-field fence, but it was all downhill from there for the Giants. Wade's blast was one of three hits for the visitors, and they added four walks while putting just two runners past first base for the rest of the game. The 29-year-old is up to 16 homers this year, two shy of matching his total from 2021. He's added 43 RBI, 62 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .263/.377/.424 slash line over a career-high 128 games.
-
Vladimir Guerrero TOR 1B
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Undergoes MRI
6h agoGuerrero received an MRI on his right knee Wednesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Right knee soreness caused Guerrero to be scratched from the Jays' lineup ahead of Wednesday's contest. The results of Guerrero's MRI are expected to come back Thursday prior to Toronto's game against the Yankees, and he should be viewed as day-to-day until then.
-
Bobby Dalbec BOS 1B
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Cranks first homer of campaign
10h agoDalbec went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers.
Dalbec's homer, a 427-foot blast of Jon Gray in the second inning, was his first with the Red Sox in nearly a full calendar year. The 28-year-old Dalbec has been swinging the bat well since he was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, going 6-for-14 with three extra-base hits in four games. He should continue to see regular time at first base down the stretch, with Triston Casas (shoulder) likely out for the year.
-
Vladimir Guerrero TOR 1B
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Scratched with sore knee
11h agoGuerrero was scratched from the lineup Wednesday versus the Yankees due to right knee discomfort, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
This knee discomfort has been a lingering issue for Guerrero, but manager John Schneider said it's only soreness -- nothing structural -- and he is considered day-to-day. The 24-year-old slugger was slated to serve as the Blue Jays' designated hitter Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. Spencer Horwitz will now fill that role as Cavan Biggio covers first base and Whit Merrifield enters the lineup at second base.
-
Alfonso Rivas PIT 1B
Pirates' Alfonso Rivas: Takes seat versus lefty
12h agoRivas is absent from the lineup Wednesday versus the Cubs.
Connor Joe will start at first base and bat cleanup with left-hander Justin Steele toeing the slab for Chicago. Rivas has batted .167 with a .445 OPS in only 19 major-league plate appearances against lefties this year.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
-
Brendan Rodgers COL 2B
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Swats first homer of 2023
7h agoRodgers went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Padres.
In his 36th game, Rodgers finally hit his first homer of the season, driving a Seth Lugo fastball over the left-center field fence in the first inning. The 27-year-old infielder has hit safely in seven straight games, going 12-for-27 (.444) with a double, four runs and four RBI, and with the Rockies finishing their campaign with a seven-game homestand next week, Rodgers could be able to keep his hot streak going.
-
Whit Merrifield TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Whit Merrifield: Added to lineup Wednesday
10h agoMerrifield was added to the lineup for Wednesday's game at Yankee Stadium.
Merrifield will play second base and bat sixth with Cavan Biggio shifting over to first base. Spencer Horwitz is now serving as the Blue Jays' designated hitter after Vladimir Guerrero (knee) was a late scratch.
-
Nolan Gorman STL 2B
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Slim chance of returning
11h agoManager Oliver Marmol said Wednesday that Gorman (hamstring) has a "slim" chance of returning before the end of the season, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Gorman was placed on the 10-day injured list last Wednesday because of a Grade 2 right hamstring strain and the out-of-contention Cardinals have no real reason to rush him back for the final week. Tommy Edman, Jose Fermin and Juniel Querecuto are currently rotating in at second base.
-
Whit Merrifield TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Whit Merrifield: Playing time trending down
12h agoMerrifield is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Wednesday's absence marks just three starts in Toronto's past nine games for Merrifield, as his .549 OPS since the start of August appears to have caught up to him. Daulton Varsho continues to work as the primary left fielder, while Cavan Biggio has a hot stick while seeing regular at-bats in a utility role.
-
Cavan Biggio TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Hitting cleanup again
12h agoBiggio is starting at second base and batting cleanup Wednesday against the Yankees.
The 28-year-old has a .916 OPS in 13 games since Sept. 4 and will bat cleanup for the second straight contest Wednesday. Biggio's hot bat has resulted in him being a lineup regular so far in September, and he's seen action at first base, second base, third base and right field this month.
-
Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Smacks 36th homer
4h agoMuncy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers.
Muncy's blast got the Dodgers on the board in the sixth inning against Tigers starter Reese Olson. It also extended Muncy's hitting streak to 11 games, though he's gone 13-for-43 (.302) with just two multi-hit efforts in that span. The infielder matched his career high with his 36th homer of the season, and he's got a decent chance to set a new personal best with 11 contests left on the schedule. He's added a .213/.335/.496 slash line with 102 RBI, 89 runs scored, a stolen base, 16 doubles and a triple through 126 games this season.
-
Ke'Bryan Hayes PIT 3B
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Stays warm Wednesday
6h agoHayes went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Cubs.
Hayes has five multi-hit efforts over his last seven games, going 13-for-29 (.448) in that span. He's produced one home run, five RBI and a stolen base in that span. The third baseman has been steady this season, batting .276 with a .771 OPS, 14 homers, 60 RBI, 59 runs scored and 10 stolen bases through 116 contests overall. With his three-hit effort Wednesday, he now has a career-high 126 hits for the season.
-
Jared Triolo PIT 3B
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Knocks second homer
6h agoTriolo went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Cubs.
Triolo has gone 6-for-23 (.261) over eight games since he was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sept. 6. This was his first game with an RBI in that span. The infielder is slashing .271/.350/.340 with two homers, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored and four stolen bases through 163 plate appearances this season. He doesn't have an everyday role, but he can provide cover around the infield for the Pirates.
-
Josh Donaldson MIL 3B
Brewers' Josh Donaldson: Blasts homer in win
6h agoDonaldson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Cardinals.
Donaldson set the tone early with a first-inning blast, and that was all the Brewers would need for the win. He's gone 7-for-32 (.219) with two homers, seven RBI and four runs scored through nine games with Milwaukee after joining the big club Sept. 11. For the season, the veteran third baseman has a .159/.248/.442 slash line with 12 homers, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored and no stolen bases through 43 contests between the Brewers and the Yankees.
-
Zack Gelof OAK 3B
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Productive in Wednesday's loss
7h agoGelof went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Mariners.
He took George Kirby deep in the fourth inning to get Oakland on the board, but Gelof's squad was already down 2-0 at that point. The rookie second baseman is batting .310 (22-for-71) in September as he puts the finishing touches on an impressive MLB debut that has seen him rack up 13 homers and 13 steals in just 59 games.
-
Jake Burger MIA 3B
Marlins' Jake Burger: Dealing with quad tightness
8h agoBurger left Wednesday's game against the Mets early due to right quad tightness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Burger was pulled after making an error on a throw home during the third inning. No details regarding the severity of Burger's injury were provided, but with an extra day between games for Miami, there's a chance Burger returns without missing any time.
-
Xander Bogaerts SD SS
Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Three more hits Wednesday
6h agoBogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Rockies.
After struggling for much of the year, Bogaerts is putting together a massive finish to his first season with the Padres. The shortstop has reeled off six straight multi-hit performances, and through 17 games in September he's batting .471 (32-for-68) with nine doubles, a triple, four homers, five steals, eight RBI and 19 runs. Bogaerts needs just one more home run and two more stolen bases to record his first career 20-20 campaign.
-
Javier Baez DET SS
Tigers' Javier Baez: Out again with back issue
10h agoBaez (back) remains out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Dodgers.
Baez was scratched Tuesday due to lower-back tightness and needs at least a bit more rest and treatment. Zach McKinstry will play shortstop and bat second for the Tigers on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
-
Brandon Crawford SF SS
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Exits with tight hamstring
12h agoCrawford was removed from Wednesday's game in Arizona due to right hamstring tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Crawford may have tweaked his hamstring on a second-inning groundout, as Paul DeJong took over at shortstop for the Giants before the bottom of the third. This could wind up being a season-ending injury for Crawford even if it proves to be relatively minor, as the Giants only have 10 games left to go and have probably fallen too far back in the NL wild-card standings.
-
Tommy Edman STL SS
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: On bench Wednesday
13h agoEdman is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.
Jose Fermin will start at second base and bat seventh for the Cardinals, who were officially eliminated from postseason contention Tuesday. Edman is slashing .242/.304/.274 in 69 plate appearances since the beginning of September.
-
Ernie Clement TOR SS
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Sent down to Triple-A
14h agoClement was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
Cam Eden is coming up to absorb Clement's spot on the Blue Jays' roster. Clement boasts an .885 OPS in 52 plate appearances in the majors this season, but his opportunities have been few and far between.
-
Mason McCoy TOR SS
Blue Jays' Mason McCoy: Designated for assignment
14h agoMcCoy was designated for assignment Wednesday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
Toronto needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Cam Eden. McCoy was acquired from the Mariners in late July and was hitless in two plate appearances during his brief time in the majors.
-
Brandon Nimmo NYM CF
Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Homers among three hits
3h agoNimmo went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, two additional runs and a walk against Miami in an 8-3 win Wednesday.
Nimmo has been scorching in September, batting .346 through 18 contests. He's gone deep five times during the month so far, though he hadn't homered in his previous 10 games before Wednesday. Nimmo has already established a career high with 24 homers on the campaign, and he needs one more RBI to tie the career-best mark of 64 he recorded last season.
-
Anthony Santander BAL RF
Orioles' Anthony Santander: Records fifth steal
5h agoSantander went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.
Santander was the only Oriole with multiple hits in this contest. He knocked in their lone run and stole a base in the first inning. It was his second multi-hit effort in a row following an 0-for-18 skid across the previous five games. The slugger is slashing .255/.325/.476 with 27 home runs, 85 RBI, 78 runs scored and five steals through 144 contests overall.
-
Edward Olivares KC LF
Royals' Edward Olivares: Registers 10th steal
5h agoOlivares went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
Olivares has returned with a vengeance since he was recalled from Triple-A Omaha at the beginning of September. He's gone 17-for-45 (.378) with four home runs and 11 RBI over 14 contests, and he picked up his first steal of the month Wednesday. The outfielder is up to a .264/.318/.444 slash line with 10 homers, 10 thefts, 31 RBI and 44 runs scored over 99 contests this season, though he's also added 21 doubles and four triples across 358 plate appearances.
-
Nelson Velazquez KC RF
Royals' Nelson Velazquez: Reaches 15-homer mark
5h agoVelazquez went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
Velazquez's first-inning blast was all the Royals needed to earn the win. The outfielder has gone a modest 15-for-55 (.273) in September, but seven of his hits have left the yard. He's up to 15 homers, 31 RBI, 30 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases while slashing .244/.313/.622 over 46 contests between the Royals and the Cubs this season. The 24-year-old outfielder's power has helped him early fairly steady playing time over the last month.
-
Josh Palacios PIT RF
Pirates' Josh Palacios: Caps big rally
6h agoPalacios went 2-for-6 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Cubs.
Palacios' blast put a bow on the Pirates' seven-run fourth inning. The outfielder has been solid in September, going 15-for-49 (.306) with three homers and nine RBI over 17 contests. That's lifted his season slash line to .230/.270/.404 with nine long balls, 36 RBI, 23 runs scored and five stolen bases over 83 contests overall. Palacios is in the mix for playing time in the corner outfield spots and at designated hitter, primarily against right-handed pitchers.
-
Connor Joe PIT RF
Pirates' Connor Joe: Clubs homer in win
6h agoJoe went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Cubs.
Joe opened September with just five hits across 13 games before breaking out of the slump Wednesday. This was his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 24. The 31-year-old is up to 11 homers, 40 RBI, 58 runs scored and 28 doubles through 125 contests this season, all of which are season highs. He's also logged three stolen bases with a .236/.330/.416 slash line across 440 plate appearances.

-
Eury Perez MIA SP
Marlins' Eury Perez: Takes loss in short start
3h agoPerez (5-6) completed three innings in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out two batters.
Perez got through a scoreless first frame before serving up a solo homer to Mark Vientos in the second. New York tacked on two more runs against the right-hander in the third, though one of them was unearned, and Perez didn't return for the fourth inning after having thrown 69 pitches. This was the rookie's shortest start of the campaign outside of a six-run disaster against Atlanta on July 1 during which he recorded only one out, and he hasn't tossed more than five frames in any of his past four appearances. Perez now holds a 3.15 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 108:31 K:BB over 91.1 major-league innings this season.
-
Kodai Senga NYM SP
Mets' Kodai Senga: Hurls eighth straight quality start
3h agoSenga (12-7) earned the win over Miami on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over six innings.
Senga's three punchouts were his fewest in nearly two months, but that didn't prevent him from picking up his second straight victory and eighth consecutive quality start. The Japanese hurler has been dominant during the latter stretch, posting a 2.31 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 58:19 K:BB over 50.2 frames while going 5-1. Senga continues to hand out plenty of free passes -- he's issued multiple walks in 10 straight outings, and his 4.1 BB/9 on the season is fifth-highest among qualified starters -- but he's proven to be a wise offseason signing by the Mets and is increasing his draft stock in fantasy next season with his late-season excellence.
-
Bobby Miller LAD SP
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Little help in loss
4h agoMiller (10-4) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Tigers.
Miller put in a sharp performance, but the Dodgers' offense didn't give him enough run support. This was his first loss in five starts, and he's gone at least six innings in seven of his last eight appearances. Miller is at a 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 106:31 K:BB through 113.1 innings over 20 starts this season. He's lined up for a road outing in Colorado for his next start.

Will Vest DET RP
Tigers' Will Vest: Secures five-out save
4h agoVest allowed a hit and struck out two over 1.2 innings to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

5h agoCoulombe (5-2) allowed a run on two hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Astros.
Coulombe entered this series with a 12-inning scoreless streak, but the Astros have tagged him for two runs across one inning in two appearances. He allowed a double to Yainer Diaz and a walk-off single to Mauricio Dubon in Wednesday's contest. Coulombe has arguably been the Orioles' most consistent lefty reliever this year with a 2.64 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB through 48.2 innings, and he's added two saves and 20 holds over 57 appearances. While he's faltering late in the year, he should still be able to hold down a setup role the rest of the way.

Zack Thompson STL RP
Cardinals' Zack Thompson: Yields four runs again
6h agoThompson (5-7) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Brewers.
Thompson yielded a three-run home run to Josh Donaldson in the first inning and a solo shot to Tyrone Taylor in the fourth. This was the first time Thompson's allowed multiple homers in an outing this year, though he's now given up a season-high four runs in consecutive starts. The southpaw is at a 4.57 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 67:24 K:BB through 61 innings over 24 appearances (eight starts) overall. He's projected to make his next start on the road in a rematch with the Brewers.

Josh Hader SD RP
Padres' Josh Hader: Nails down 31st save
6h agoHader gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 31st save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Rockies.
The southpaw failed to strike out any batters at all over three appearances and 2.1 innings against Colorado in this series, but he still came away with two saves and a win. Hader still hit 97.6 mph with his final pitch Wednesday as he got Brendan Rodgers to fly out, so those with fantasy shares in the San Diego closer would seem to have little cause for alarm. On the season, Hader carries a 1.21 ERA and 79:28 K:BB through 52 innings.

Wandy Peralta NYY RP
Yankees' Wandy Peralta: Dealing with triceps issues
7h agoYankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Peralta is dealing with some "tricep stuff," Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Boone didn't go into much detail regarding Peralta's injury, but it could help explain why the 32-year-old lefty hasn't pitched in nearly a week. A firm return timeline won't be established until more information is provided, but fantasy managers should consider Peralta day-to-day going forward.

Mark Vientos NYM DH
Mets' Mark Vientos: Homers twice in victory
3h agoVientos went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Marlins.
Vientos began the scoring in the contest with a solo shot in the second inning and added another solo blast in the sixth. This was the rookie's first multi-homer game of his big-league career -- he came into the contest with just six long balls over his first 236 plate appearances as a major leaguer. Vientos has demonstrated ample power in the minors, however, with 65 long balls over 245 minor-league games across the past three seasons.

Byron Buxton MIN DH
Twins' Byron Buxton: Resuming assignment Thursday
6h agoBuxton (knee) will resume playing in rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Buxton's assignment was shut down after he suffered a knee injury in a Triple-A game Sept. 1 while working his way back from a strained hamstring. He has received a cortisone injection in his knee since then and has now been cleared to resume game action. Barring any further setbacks, Buxton could still make his way back into the Twins' lineup before the end of the regular season.
-
Christopher Morel CHC DH
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Goes deep Wednesday
6h agoMorel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Pirates.
Morel is now up to 24 home runs after hitting 16 long balls as a rookie last season. While it's a solid total, the 24-year-old did hit nine of them in his first 12 games of the year. Since then, Morel has 15 home runs in 89 games. For fantasy purposes, the youngster has been a good player to use during a hot streak, though he's still looking for more consistency at the plate, and he'll need to cut down on the strikeouts moving forward.
-
Luken Baker STL DH
Cardinals' Luken Baker: Gets start in DH role
12h agoBaker will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth Wednesday versus the Brewers.
The 26-year-old should see an uptick in playing time over what remains of the 2023 regular season with Alec Burleson (thumb) joining Nolan Gorman (hamstring) on the injured list. Baker has gone 12-for-56 (.214) with 22 strikeouts through his first 22 games at the MLB level, but he was slashing .334/.440/.720 with 33 homers and 98 RBI in 84 games for Triple-A Memphis prior to being recalled in mid-August.
-
Heston Kjerstad BAL DH
Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Clubs second homer
16h agoKjerstad went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Astros.
Kjerstad padded the Orioles' lead in the seventh inning with his second homer in five games since he was called up. He's gone 4-for-13 with five strikeouts. The 24-year-old has made all three of his starts at designated hitter, though he can also be an option at first base and in the corner outfield in a pinch. For now, it appears the Orioles are focused on letting him hit in a part-time role versus right-handed pitchers.

Byron Buxton MIN DH
Twins' Byron Buxton: Hopeful of rehab games soon
17h agoBuxton (knee) remains hopeful of resuming a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul soon, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
St. Paul's season ends Sunday, so if Buxton gets into some rehab games it will need to happen soon. The outfielder received a cortisone injection for his ailing right knee earlier this month and has continued hitting, throwing and running. It's not clear whether playing center field could still be an option for Buxton or if the Twins plan to continue limiting him to designated hitter duty when/if he returns.
