Robin Lehner LV G
Golden Knights' Robin Lehner: Not on training camp roster
11h agoLehner (hip) is not listed on the Golden Knights' training camp roster.
Lehner's absence from the camp roster doesn't bode well for his availability at the start of 2023-24. The 32-year-old goalie missed all of last season while recovering from hip surgery, and in his absence, Logan Thompson and Adin Hill emerged as viable goalies for the defending Stanley Cup champions. As such, Lehner will not be rushed back this year, and given the length of his recovery, it's fair to question if he'll ever get back into an NHL game.
-
Brock McGinn ANA LW
Ducks' Brock McGinn: Ready for training camp
11h agoMcGinn (upper body) will skate with Group 3 on the first day of on-ice practices at Ducks training camp Thursday.
McGinn ended last season on the shelf, missing the final four games of the campaign. He had 19 points in 75 games last year, and he figures to fill a bottom-six role for Anaheim in 2023-24.
-
Justin Danforth CLB RW
Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Lifted from IR
11h agoDanforth (shoulder) was removed from injured reserve Wednesday, per CapFriendly.
Danforth was limited to three points in six games last season before undergoing shoulder surgery in late October. Now nearly 11 months removed from the procedure, he should be good to go for training camp. Danforth will compete for a bottom-six role, though the Blue Jackets may want younger players to seize those spots as they continue through a rebuild.
-
Calum Ritchie COL C
Avalanche's Calum Ritchie: Will miss start of season
12h agoRitchie (shoulder) will miss training camp and the start of the season, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Ritchie underwent shoulder surgery following his season with OHL Oshawa. While no specific timeline has been established, his recovery will last into the season, making it unlikely Ritchie plays before November.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Suffers ruptured Achilles
12h agoWagner suffered a ruptured Achilles prior to training camp, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Wagner signed a two-year deal with the Avalanche in July, but it could be a while before he suits up with the team. The 32-year-old was likely to be just a fourth-line option this season, but given the severity of his injury, it's likely he'll miss a majority of the campaign.
-
Jean-Luc Foudy COL C
Avalanche's Jean-Luc Foudy: Dealing with lower-body injury
12h agoFoudy has a lower-body injury and has not been cleared to participate at the start of training camp Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Foudy had no points in nine games with the Avalanche last season, spending the bulk of the year with AHL Colorado. With the injury hampering him to begin the campaign, expect him to again start 2023-24 in the minors.

Andrew Cogliano COL C
Avalanche's Andrew Cogliano: Unlikely to play in preseason
12h agoCogliano is not expected to play in preseason games, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Cogliano suffered a fractured neck in Game 6 of the first round of last year's playoffs versus the Kraken. He initially faced a 6-8 week timeline for his return, though as a 36-year-old defensive specialist, he doesn't necessarily need to play in the preseason to get up to speed. So far, there's no reason to be concerned about his availability for Opening Night.
-
Cole Perfetti WPG C
Jets' Cole Perfetti: Ready for camp
12h agoPerfetti (upper body) is expected to center a line with Nikolaj Ehlers and Nino Niederreiter on Thursday in the Jets' first on-ice practice, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Perfetti worked primarily as a winger last season, before an upper-body injury cut his campaign short in mid-February. The 21-year-old forward appears set to get the first chance to fill the second-line center spot that belonged to Pierre-Luc Dubois prior to his trade to the Kings. Perfetti has 37 points in 69 games across two NHL seasons, though fantasy managers may be wary of his injury history despite his upside as a first-round pick from 2020.
-
Mark Scheifele WPG C
Jets' Mark Scheifele: Set to take ice for start of camp
12h agoScheifele (upper body) is expected to center a line with Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi for Thursday's first on-ice practice, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Scheifele missed the last game of the Jets' first-round playoff exit with the injury, which was sustained in Game 4 of the series against Vegas. The center was never expected to miss time to begin camp. Scheifele is entering a contract year and his long-term future with the Jets is in question, but he'll undoubtedly once again have a sizable role with the team to begin 2023-24.
-
Mathieu Olivier CLB C
Blue Jackets' Mathieu Olivier: Is week-to-week
13h agoOlivier (lower leg) is considered to be week-to-week going into training camp, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.
Olivier had five goals, 15 points 81 PIM and 178 hits in 66 games with Columbus in 2022-23. He's likely to serve on the fourth line once he's healthy.

-
Brandon Kozun LOK RW
Avalanche's Brandon Kozun: Attempting NHL comeback
12h agoKozun signed a professional tryout agreement with the Avalanche on Wednesday, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Kozun spent most of the last eight years in the KHL, playing for four clubs and amassing 106 goals, 151 assists and 327 PIM over 347 games. The Avalanche could benefit from acquiring forward depth at a bargain, and Kozun's scoring history overseas paints a brighter picture than the four points he amassed in 20 games with the Maple Leafs in 2014-15.
-
Kirill Marchenko CLB RW
Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko: Dealing with strained back
13h agoMarchenko is day-to-day with a strained back, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.
Marchenko scored 21 goals and 25 points in 59 outings in 2022-23. The 23-year-could serve in a top-six role while receiveing significant power-play ice time this season.
-
Andrei Svechnikov CAR RW
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: On track to play in opener
13h agoSvechnikov (knee) is on track to be ready for the start of the regular season, Hurricanes GM Don Waddell told Michael Russo of The Athletic on Wednesday.
Svechnikov underwent reconstructive knee surgery March 11, but he's ahead of schedule in his recovery. The 23-year-old had 23 goals and 55 points in 64 contests in 2022-23. Svechnikov is expected to slot into his usual featured top-six role for the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
-
Josh Manson COL D
Avalanche's Josh Manson: Still dealing with LBI
12h agoManson is still dealing with a lower-body injury but is expected to be on the ice for Thursday's practice, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Manson underwent surgery in May, and it appears he's still recovering. At this time, there's little concern the 31-year-old will miss Opening Night.
-
Cale Makar COL D
Avalanche's Cale Makar: Not ready for start of camp
12h agoMakar (undisclosed) will miss time early in training camp but is expected to be full-go next week, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Makar is considered day-to-day for now. It's a little concerning that he's already dealing with an injury to begin training camp, but there's little reason to expect this issue will spill over into the regular season. Makar was limited to 60 games last season but produced 66 points, including 30 on the power play.
-
Jake Bean CLB D
Blue Jackets' Jake Bean: Considered week-to-week
13h agoBean (shoulder) is regarded as week-to-week as training camp begins, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.
Bean recorded a goal and six points in 14 games in 2022-23. He hasn't played since Nov. 15, 2022 because of the injury.
-
Tucker Poolman VAN D
Canucks' Tucker Poolman: Won't play in 2023-24
15h agoPoolman (head) won't be available for the 2023-24 campaign, Canucks GM Patrik Allvin told Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650.
Poolman hasn't played since Oct. 18, 2022 because of migraines. The 30-year-old has two seasons remaining on his four-year, $10 million contract.
-
Tucker Poolman VAN D
Canucks' Tucker Poolman: Will miss training camp
17h agoPoolman (head) will miss Vancouver's training camp, Chris Johnston of TSN reports.
Poolman, who has been suffering from migraines, hasn't played since Oct. 18, 2022. It's not clear if or when the 30-year-old defenseman might be able to return, but he'll likely be in the mix for a third-pairing role when healthy.
-
Jani Hakanpaa DAL D
Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Healthy for camp
18h agoHakanpaa (knee) elected against having surgery this offseason and is ready to participate in training camp, Saad Yousuf of The Athletic reports.
Hakanpaa was initially reported to be considering surgery in June after battling with the injury during the Stars' run to the Western Conference Finals. Instead, it appears he'll be good to go from the start, though it's possible the knee may be reason for concern eventually. Hakanpaa posted 16 points, 224 hits, 128 blocked shots and a plus-18 rating in 82 games last season, a career year for the Finnish blueliner.
-
Robin Lehner LV G
Golden Knights' Robin Lehner: Not on training camp roster
11h agoLehner (hip) is not listed on the Golden Knights' training camp roster.
Lehner's absence from the camp roster doesn't bode well for his availability at the start of 2023-24. The 32-year-old goalie missed all of last season while recovering from hip surgery, and in his absence, Logan Thompson and Adin Hill emerged as viable goalies for the defending Stanley Cup champions. -
Daniil Tarasov CLB G
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Battling knee injury
13h agoTarasov is dealing with a knee injury and is considered day-to-day, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.
Tarasov had a 4-11-1 record, 3.91 GAA and .892 save percentage in 17 contests with the Blue Jackets in 2022-23. Provided he's healthy, Tarasov will compete with Aaron Dell for Columbus' backup job.
-
Matt Murray TOR G
Maple Leafs' Matt Murray: Will undergo surgery
20h agoMurray (undisclosed) needs "significant surgery," Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving told Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun on Wednesday.
There's no timetable for Murray's return, but he's already on the long-term injured reserve list. He had a 14-8-2 record, 3.01 GAA and .903 save percentage in 26 contests in 2022-23. With Murray unavailable, Joseph Woll is projected to enter the campaign as Ilya Samsonov's backup.
-
Charlie Lindgren WAS G
Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Clear for training camp
2d agoLindgren (upper body) is listed as healthy on the Capitals' training camp roster released Tuesday.
Lindgren missed some time late in 2022-23 with the injury, but it was never expected to keep him out of action to begin this season. The 29-year-old enters 2023-24 as Darcy Kuemper's presumptive backup. Lindgren played in a career-high 31 contests a year ago and should see similar usage, giving him some late-round fantasy appeal in deep formats.
-
Michael Hutchinson CLB G
Red Wings' Michael Hutchinson: Links up with Detroit on PTO
2d agoHutchinson signed a professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Hutchinson went 2-6-3 with a 4.29 GAA and an .875 save percentage over 16 games with the Blue Jackets last season after he was traded from the Vegas organization in the Jonathan Quick deal. Hutchinson joins a crowded crease in Detroit, as Ville Husso is the established starter with James Reimer and Alex Lyon competing for the backup gig.
-
Casey DeSmith MON G
Canucks' Casey DeSmith: Acquired by Vancouver
2d agoDeSmith was acquired by Vancouver on Tuesday from Montreal in exchange for Tanner Pearson and a 2025 third-round pick.
DeSmith was dealt to the Canadiens on Aug. 6 as part of a three-team trade with Pittsburgh and San Jose. He posted a 15-16-4 record last season with a 3.17 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 38 appearances for the Penguins. DeSmith will compete with Spencer Martin and Arturs Silovs for the backup job behind Thatcher Demko during training camp.
