  • Flames' Martin Pospisil: Buries goal Thursday

Pospisil scored a goal on four shots, added two PIM and doled out seven hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Bruins.

Pospisil scored for the first time since Dec. 18. He put up six helpers, 67 hits and 41 PIM over 20 contests between goals. Pospisil has the grit to be a power winger, but his offense is lagging behind a bit. For the season, the 24-year-old rookie has 14 points, 140 hits, 53 PIM, 72 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over 41 appearances while seeing steady time alongside Nazem Kadri and Connor Zary, who both assisted on his goal Thursday.

  • Stars' Derrick Pouliot: Assigned to AHL affiliate

Pouliot was reassigned to AHL Texas on Friday.

With Pouliot heading to the minors, the Stars now only have five healthy blueliners on their roster, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him back with the big club ahead of Saturday's game versus Carolina. Pouliot's gone scoreless through three top-level appearances this year.

  • Jamie Benn LW | DAL

Stars' Jamie Benn: Assists in three straight games

Benn logged an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

Benn has a helper in three straight games after collecting just four points over the prior 16 contests. The 34-year-old forward is up to 33 points, 100 shots on net, 77 hits and 35 PIM through 58 appearances. He's working out of the worst of his scoring woes, but his third-line role isn't all that encouraging even with the strong depth of the Stars' offense.

  • Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Provides helper Thursday

Heiskanen notched an assist in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

Heiskanen has a point in each of his last four games, picking up two goals and an assist in that span. The 24-year-old defenseman had the secondary helper on Joe Pavelski's goal late in the first period. Heiskanen had an uneven start to the season and missed time injured in January, but he's been pretty steady of late. He's at 35 points, 109 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through 47 outings overall.

  • Nikolaj Ehlers LW | WPG

Jets' Nikolaj Ehlers: Expected to play Friday

Ehlers is expected to play against the Blackhawks on Friday, after missing Thursday's practice, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.

Ehlers has had a nagging undisclosed injury since training camp and has managed to play in all 54 games to date. The Danish winger has 16 goals and 37 points in 54 outings this season, including three assists on the power play.

  • Joe Pavelski C | DAL

Stars' Joe Pavelski: Tallies lone goal in loss

Pavelski scored a goal and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

Pavelski endured a month-long goal drought, racking up seven assists over 12 contests in that span. The 39-year-old's tally was his 20th of the season, giving him 48 points through 58 appearances. Pavelski has been back on the third line recently, swapping places with Wyatt Johnston, though more changes could come with the Stars having lost four straight games.

  • Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Gets starting nod

Tarasov will patrol the home crease versus the Sabres on Friday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Tarasov was pretty sharp in his last start Wednesday against Anaheim, turning aside 27 of 29 shots en route to a 7-4 victory -- Elvis Merzlikins surrendered two goals on two shots late in the second period when Tarasov briefly exited with an undisclosed injury, but Tarasov was able to return for the third and secure the win. Tarasov will try to earn his fifth victory of the season in a middling home matchup with a Buffalo team that's averaging 3.19 goals on the road this season, 15th in the NHL.

  • Stars' Scott Wedgewood: Makes relief appearance

Wedgewood allowed a goal on 19 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

Wedgewood played a little over half of the game after Jake Oettinger was pulled following Thomas Chabot's second-period tally. Wedgewood is winless in his last five appearances, though two of them have been solid relief appearances. He's at a 13-6-4 record with a 2.97 GAA and an .899 save percentage over 26 outings. The 31-year-old is likely to get an appearance during the Stars' back-to-back Monday and Tuesday, either against the Islanders or the Avalanche.

  • Jakub Demek C | LV

Golden Knights' Jakub Demek: Recalled from AHL

Demek was called up from AHL Henderson on Friday.

Demek was recalled as the Golden Knights are down to 12 healthy forwards. The 20-year-old was drafted in the fourth round in 2021 and has five goals and 13 points in 44 AHL games this season.

  • Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Going after seventh straight win

Pickard will patrol the home crease versus Minnesota on Friday, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.

Pickard plays infrequently as Stuart Skinner is the No. 1 netminder with the Oilers, so his streak goes back two months to Dec. 21. Pickard is 7-2-0 with as 2.48 GAA and a .910 save percentage this season. The Wild are averaging 3.11 goals this season, 15th in the league.
