Jon Rahm will try to bounce back from a disappointing performance at the PGA Championship when the 2023 U.S. Open begins on Thursday at Los Angeles Country Club. Rahm comes in at 8-1 in the latest 2023 U.S. Open odds from Caesars Sportsbook, trailing only world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is the favorite at 13-2. Other top 2023 U.S. Open contenders in the 2023 U.S. field include Brooks Koepka (17-2), Viktor Hovland (10-1), Rory McIlroy (11-1), and Patrick Cantlay (14-1), with Defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick coming in at 35-1.

Which 2023 U.S. Open head-to-head matchup picks should you target, and what 2023 U.S. Open prop bets could set you up for a strong payday? Before locking in any US Open 2023 picks of your own, be sure to check out the PGA predictions and betting advice from SportsLine golf expert Mike McClure.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $10,200 on its best bets since that point, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure's best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, even though he hadn't won a PGA Tour event since 2018.

This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2023 U.S. Open field and just revealed his top PGA prop bets. You can head to SportsLine now to see all of McClure's 2023 U.S. Open prop picks, sleepers, head-to-head matchups and best bets.

Top 2023 U.S. Open prop picks

One of McClure's favorite prop bet picks this week at the PGA Championship 2023 is Tony Finau finishing in the top 10 at +350 odds (risk $100 to win $350). Finau is still trying to win his first major, but has four outright wins since last July. The 33-year-old has climbed to No. 12 in the Official World Golf Ranking and will try to snap a streak of two straight missed cuts at the U.S. Open.

Finau has six career PGA Tour wins and enters the U.S. Open 2023 playing arguably the best golf of his professional career. He ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green (1.650), fifth in strokes gained on approach (0.900), and seventh total strokes gained (1.755). McClure sees plenty of value in taking a big-hitter like Finau to finish inside the top 10 against an elite field at plus-money. You can see the rest of McClure's 2023 U.S. Open prop bet picks at SportsLine.

Top 2023 U.S. Open head-to-head matchup picks

Another shocking PGA Championship prop bet pick from McClure: Take Justin Thomas over Jordan Spieth in head-to-head golf betting at +105 odds. Thomas has been battling consistency issues all year, but has still flashed elite ability at times and enters the U.S. Open 2023 as the No. 16 ranked player in the world. Thomas excels around the green, ranking ninth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green (0.436).

On the flip side, Spieth is coming off a fifth place finish at the Memorial, but has also missed the cut in two of his last four starts. Spieth, the 10th-ranked player in the world, has also been battling a wrist injury, which could be problematic with the thick, unforgiving rough at Los Angeles Country Club. That said, McClure has zeroed in on Thomas  as one of his 2023 PGA Championship top overall contenders and sees plenty of value in taking him to beat Spieth head-to-head for a plus money payout.
