Daniel Hudson: Becomes free agent
The Dodgers declined Hudson's (knee) $6.5 million club option for 2024 on Sunday.
Hudson missed the second half of the 2023 campaign due to a sprained MCL in his right knee. However, he aimed to return to the Dodgers' bullpen if they advanced to the NLCS, so it seems as though he's at least close to full health as he prepares for free agency.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Set for intrasquad appearance
Hudson (knee) is scheduled to pitch in an intrasquad game Thursday at Dodger Stadium, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Hudson has been sidelined since early July because of a sprained MCL in his right knee and won't be ready for the NLDS, but he is aiming to return to the Dodgers' bullpen if they advance to the NLCS. The veteran reliever resumed facing live hitters in late September and has progressed without issue so far.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Won't return before NLCS
Hudson (knee) is slated to throw live batting practice during the Dodgers' upcoming road trip and could return to game action if the team advances to the NLCS, per the Associated Press.
Hudson has been out with a sprained MCL in his right knee since July 5 and has pitched in just three major-league games this season. He only recently resumed throwing to live hitters, so he still has a ways to go until he could potentially be ready for game action. The Dodgers have already wrapped up a spot in the NLDS, but Hudson won't be ready to return for that series. Should Los Angeles advance past that round, however, the veteran reliever could be added to the roster for the NLCS, which begins Oct. 16.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Throws to live hitters
Hudson (knee) tossed a live bullpen session Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
This is a significant step forward for Hudson, whose previous throwing session was from the slope (not the rubber) of the bullpen mound. The veteran reliever has pitched in just three games this season, with his latest appearance with Los Angeles taking place July 5. It remains unlikely that Hudson will be able to return by the end of the campaign, though it's possible he could be an option if the Dodgers go deep into the postseason.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Throws in bullpen Tuesday
Hudson (knee) threw pitches from the slope of the bullpen mound Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Hudson hasn't recovered as quickly as hoped after spraining the MCL in his right knee in early July and has been deemed by manager Dave Roberts a "longshot" to return this season. Nonetheless, the veteran reliever is continuing to throw, albeit from the slope of the mound rather than the rubber. That detail suggests that Hudson is still far away from being able to pitch in a game situation, so it's unlikely he returns in 2023, even if the Dodgers make a deep postseason run.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Longshot to return
Hudson (knee) is a "longshot" to return this season, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The Dodgers have tried to keep the door open for Hudson to return this season, though it seems as if that hope is fading. Manager Dave Roberts relayed that Hudson threw a bullpen session recently but was still dealing with soreness in his knee. It's unclear whether he could make a return for the postseason, or if a return to start 2024 is most realistic.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Could still pitch again in 2023
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that a return from the 60-day injured list is "still in play" for Hudson this season, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
While Roberts isn't discounting the possibility of the right-hander pitching out of the bullpen in September, Hudson has yet to resume facing hitters since landing on the IL on July 6 with a sprained MCL in his right knee. Even if he's able to ramp up quickly, Hudson is likely still multiple weeks away from being activated and will probably require multiple appearances in the minors to hone his command after the lengthy layoff from game action.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Moved to 60-day IL
Hudson (knee) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Tyson Miller. Hudson sprained the MCL in his right knee just before the All-Star break and now won't be eligible to return until early September.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Out with knee injury
Hudson suffered a sprained MCL on his right knee during Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Hudson closed out the Dodgers' win Wednesday and suffered the injury late in his outing. He returned from a torn ACL in his left knee June 30 and had turned in three scoreless outings since. Manager Dave Roberts indicated that surgery wasn't recommended at this time, but that Hudson will be out "quite some time."

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Collects first save
Hudson allowed a hit and two walks while striking out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Pirates.
Evan Phillips had pitched three straight days, so the save chance went to Hudson, who nearly made a mess of it. He loaded the bases with no outs, only to retire Henry Davis, Carlos Santana and Jack Suwinski in order to end the threat. Hudson has covered three innings and posted a 5:3 K:BB without allowing a run since returning from a torn ACL. The right-hander figures to be part of the Dodgers' high-leverage mix in the second half of the season.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Tosses scoreless frame in return
Hudson allowed one hit and struck out two batters in a scoreless inning against Kansas City on Friday.
Hudson made his big-league season debut after missing three months while recovering from last June's torn ACL. The right-hander didn't show any rust in his return, throwing 11 of 14 pitches for a strike, fanning two batters and allowing just an infield single. Hudson could see high-leverage work pretty quickly given his success (2.22 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 30:5 K:BB over 24.1 frames) with the team last season.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Activated off 60-day IL
Hudson (knee) was activated off the 60-day injured list Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Hudson will make his season debut after missing the first three months of the season while recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last June. The right-hander will likely be a high-leverage reliever for the Dodgers and could even see some save chances, but he may be eased into that role over his first few appearances.

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Set to return Friday
Hudson (knee) is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Friday's contest against the Royals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Hudson has struggled with multiple setbacks as he recovered from a torn ACL suffered last June, forcing him to remain on the sidelines for the whole 2023 campaign to this point, but he now appears ready to rejoin LA's bullpen. The right-hander produced a 2.22 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with 30 strikeouts, nine holds and five saves over 24.1 innings in 25 appearances with the Dodgers in 2022 and will likely return to a high-leverage role once he's up to speed.
