  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Will start Game 3 of NLDS

Manaea was announced Sunday as the Mets' starter for Game 3 of the NLDS versus the Phillies on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The announcement comes as no surprise, as Manaea will be on five days' rest after starting Game 2 of the National League Wild-Card Series this past Wednesday against Milwaukee. In that contest, the left-hander yielded two runs over five innings and came away with a no-decision. In three starts versus Philadelphia during the regular season, Manaea posted a 5.40 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB over 16.2 frames.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Tapped for Game 2 start

Manaea will start Wednesday in Game 2 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Brewers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Manaea was knocked around in Milwaukee in his final start of the regular season, but it's no surprise he's getting the nod for Game 2 based on his 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB across 181.2 innings this season. Jose Quintana is a likely bet to start Game 3, if necessary, although Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is holding off naming a starter for that contest for now.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Shelled in Milwaukee

Manaea (12-6) took the loss Friday against the Brewers, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out just one. The 32-year-old's run of brilliance came to an end, as he had pitched to a 2.91 ERA over 65 innings across his previous 10 starts. This marks the first time Manaea has allowed five or more earned runs since his first start of the second half against Miami on July 19. Things unraveled quickly for the Mets southpaw, as Rhys Hoskins launched a grand slam to left field in the opening frame. Manaea concludes a solid regular season, pitching to a 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB across 181.2 innings. He likely will enter free agency this offseason as the two-year deal he signed with the Mets this past January includes an opt-out clause.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Likely to pitch Friday

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said there's a "good chance" Manaea pitches Friday against Milwaukee after Wednesday's and Thursday's games against Atlanta were postponed due to inclement weather, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. The left-hander was scheduled to start Thursday's contest, and it's hardly a surprise the Mets are hoping to get him on the mound as soon as possible in preparation for the wild-card round next week. Manaea has a 3.29 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 183:61 K:BB over 178 innings through 31 starts this season.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Notches 12th win

Manaea (12-5) picked up the win in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Phillies, giving up three runs on three hits over seven innings. He struck out six without walking a batter. Solo shots by Kyle Schwarber to lead off the game and Nick Castellanos in the fifth inning accounted for most of the damage off Manaea, but he was otherwise locked in as he won his fourth straight decision. The quality start was the southpaw's third straight and seventh in his last eight outings, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.95 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 58:10 K:BB through 55 innings. Manaea is scheduled to make his final start of the regular season on the road next week against Atlanta -- the team closest to the Mets in the race for the final wild-card spot in the NL.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Settles for no-decision

Manaea came away with a no-decision in Monday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six. The veteran lefty was impressive once again as he delivered his sixth quality start in his last seven trips to the mound, but Manaea was actually in line for the loss until the Mets finally got on the board in the eighth inning. Over his last 10 outings, Manaea has posted a dazzling 2.49 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 76:16 K:BB through 65 innings, but he's had to settle for a no-decision in three straight starts. He'll try to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Phillies.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Fans nine in no-decision

Manaea did not factor into the decision in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Reds, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out nine. The New York southpaw looked untouchable for most of this outing, generating a fantastic 19 whiffs to pick up his nine Ks. However, Manaea was done in by a pair of two-run homers, one from Elly De La Cruz in the fourth inning before a TJ Friedl blast chased the hurler from the mound in the seventh. The 32-year-old Manaea has been brilliant over his last eight starts, going 5-1 with a 2.81 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 62:11 K:BB across 51.1 innings. He currently forecasts to face the Blue Jays on the road for his next start.

He's now posted quality starts in five of his last six appearances and owns a 3.51 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 149:52 K:BB in 143.2 innings overall this season. Overall, the left-hander is 9-5 on the year with a 3.48 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 138:52 K:BB across 137 innings. Manaea is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Diamondbacks early next week.

Manaea has continued his success prior to the All-Star break into the second half, going 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA and 33 strikeouts across his last 33.2 innings. Overall, the 32-year-old has pitched to a 3.46 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 129:52 K:BB in 130 innings this season. Manaea is currently scheduled to make his next outing against the Orioles at home next week.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Done after three innings

Manaea (8-5) took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and five walks over three innings while striking out three. All three runs charged to Manaea came across in the opening frame when the right-hander surrendered hits to four of the first six batters he faced, including three doubles, while also allowing a runner to advance on a wild pitch. He would manage to get through the next two innings unscathed but was relieved by Huascar Brazoban to open the fourth after throwing 85 pitches through three innings. It marked the shortest outing of the season for Manaea after hurling 14 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, while the five walks on the night matched his season high.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Fans 11 in seventh win

Manaea (7-4) picked up the win Tuesday, scattering two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Twins. He struck out 11. The veteran southpaw tied his season high in innings while setting a new season high in Ks, as Manaea generated an eye-popping 23 swinging strikes among his 96 pitches. He's been outstanding over the last six weeks, giving up three earned runs or less in eight of his last nine starts while posting a 2.58 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB through 52.1 innings over that stretch, and Manaea's impressive run likely contributed to the Mets' decision not to make a more significant rotation addition than Paul Blackburn at the trade deadline. Manaea is scheduled to make his next start on the road early next week in St. Louis.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Inefficient in no-decision

Manaea allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Wednesday. Manaea came up an out short of qualifying for the win, though he labored through the appearance with 103 pitches (57 strikes). The two runs on his line came on solo home runs by Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto. Manaea has allowed more than three runs just once in his last eight outings, but he's had trouble pitching deep into games. For the season, the southpaw has a 3.74 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 101:45 K:BB through 106 innings over 20 starts. His next start is projected to come at home versus the Twins.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Hit hard by Miami

Manaea (6-4) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings as the Mets were downed 6-4 by the Marlins. He struck out one. The southpaw was hit hard even during a 1-2-3 first inning -- one of the outs came when Jeff McNeil robbed Bryan De La Cruz of an extra-base hit at the wall in right field -- and Miami put runners in scoring position against Manaea in every other frame he worked. It was the first time in July that he'd failed to complete at least six innings, and the first time Manaea has given up more than three runs since June 8. He'll take a 3.73 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 97:41 K:BB through 101.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Yankees.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Fans nine in sixth win

Manaea (6-3) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a 7-6 victory over the Rockies. He struck out nine. The veteran lefty served up two homers, but he did a good job of minimizing the damage on a night when the two teams combined for nine long balls -- the highest single-game total in MLB this season. Manaea has delivered three straight quality starts, giving him six on the year, and he's allowed three runs or fewer in six straight trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's gone 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB through 35.2 innings.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Nabs win despite poor control

Manaea (5-3) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing two hits and issuing five walks while striking out three batters over five scoreless innings. Manaea was impressive in yielding just two hits -- both singles -- but allowed traffic in all but one of his five frames due to his struggle to throw strikes. The left-hander issued a season-high five free passes, but the Yankees bailed him out by grounding into three double plays. Manaea has been unable to pitch into the sixth inning in each of his past seven starts, though his shortish outing Wednesday was likely due to a fifth-inning rain delay after which he did not return.

Manaea (3-3) took the loss Saturday against the Phillies in London, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out three. The left-hander's now allowed 11 earned runs over 9.1 innings in his last two starts after pitching to a 2.70 ERA over his previous seven outings. Overall, Manaea sports a 4.30 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 60:25 K:BB across 60.2 innings this year.
