Diamondbacks' Anthony DeSclafani: Put to work in relief Sunday
DeSclafani allowed two earned runs on three hits and struck out two over 2.1 innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's 8-2 loss to San Diego.
DeSclafani was put to work immediately after signing a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Although he worked as a starter in the Yankees organization before being granted his release last week, DeSclafani is expected to work in long relief for Arizona for the time being. He could be the next man up to join the rotation, however, if the Diamondbacks lose one of their five starters to an injury at any point.

Diamondbacks' Anthony DeSclafani: Lands in Arizona
DeSclafani signed a major-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
The right-hander recently opted out of his minor-league deal with the Yankees and was able to quickly secure a big-league contract. DeSclafani last pitched in the majors in 2023 with the Giants and had a 4.88 ERA across 99.2 innings. He posted similar numbers in five starts at Triple-A with the Yankees, finishing with a 4.50 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB over 20 innings. Expect the 35-year-old to work out of the bullpen as a multi-inning relief option to begin his time with Arizona.

Yankees' Anthony DeSclafani: Looking healthy at Triple-A
DeSclafani (elbow) has turned in a 5.23 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 10.1 innings over his three starts at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since signing a minor-league deal with the Yankees on May 13.
Though DeSclafani remained unsigned throughout spring training while he continued to recover from the flexor tendon surgery he underwent in March 2024, the Yankees felt comfortable enough with his health to immediately insert him into the Triple-A rotation once he put pen to paper on a deal. The veteran righty turned in his best start yet in his most recent outing for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, striking out four over four scoreless innings. He'll continue to provide organizational starting depth at the Triple-A level but could be in the mix for a call-up if a rotation spot opens up for the Yankees later on this season.

Yankees' Anthony DeSclafani: Joins Yankees on MiLB pact
DeSclafani (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Tuesday, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.
DeSclafani missed all of last season due to flexor tendon repair surgery on his right elbow. More than 13 months after his procedure, it's unclear where he is in his rehab process, but the Yankees evidently feel good about his current status and will send him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to continue building up.
