Jared Triolo will start at third base and bat third in Thursday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Stays hot with homer
Hayes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-5 win over Cincinnati. Hayes went yard off Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott in the top of the fourth inning before adding a single in the top of the seventh. It was the fourth straight multi-hit game for the 26-year-old third baseman, who has slashed .329/.357/.595 across 83 plate appearances in September while lifting his season OPS to .786.... Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Supplies only offense in rout
Hayes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 14-1 loss to the Cubs. The third baseman spoiled Chicago's shutout bid by taking Javier Assad deep in the third inning. Hayes is wrapping up a big second-half breakout, and since coming off the IL in early August, he's slashing .309/.349/.562 through 40 games with nine of his 14 homers on the season -- a power pace supported by his 93rd percentile average exit velocity, 89th percentile hard-hit rate and career-best 13.1 degree launch angle and 39 percent flyball rate in 2023.... Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Steals 10th bag
Hayes went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, an intentional walk and one RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Nationals. Hayes singled twice, stole a base, drew an intentional walk and contributed a sacrifice fly to extend Pittsburgh's lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning. In 35 games since returning from a back injury Aug. 2, the 26-year-old has slashed .298/.344/.553 with eight doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 20 runs. Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swats 12th homer
Hayes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 victory versus the Brewers. Hayes broke a 2-2 tie with his fifth-inning solo shot, and that held up as Milwaukee didn't score again in the contest. The third baseman has gone deep four times over his past 11 games, a span in which he's slashing .348/.412/.696 with eight RBI and nine runs. Hayes is up to a career-high 12 homers on the campaign, five more than he hit over 560 plate appearances last season.... See More ... See Less -

Hayes has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball in recent weeks, boasting a .366/.422/.683 batting line with six home runs and 19 RBI over his last 20 games. He'll grab a routine night off Wednesday as Vinny Capra fills in at third base for the visiting Pirates.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Reaches five times in victory
Hayes went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI in Monday's 5-0 win against the Royals. Hayes reached safely in each of his five plate appearances, finishing with his fourth career game of at least four hits. The third baseman's lone extra-base knock was a double that plated a run in the third frame. Hayes has been swinging a hot stick for about three weeks, racking up 11 multi-hit games in 19 contests since Aug. 8. He's batting .372 (29-for-78) with five homers, six doubles, one triple, 17 RBI and 12 runs over that span.... See More ... See Less -

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Mashes sixth homer
Hayes went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to Atlanta. Both extra-base hits came off Yonny Chirinos, including Hayes' first-inning homer that staked the Pirates to an early 3-1 lead. The third baseman had gone just 1-for-15 with six strikeouts in his prior four games after returning from lower back discomfort, but he looked 100 percent healthy Tuesday and had posted a .337/337/.518 slash line over 21 games in June with three of his six homers on the year, plus 13 RBI, before his back trouble cropped up. If he is fully recovered, Hayes might be ready to pick up where he left off.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Held out Monday
Hayes is not in the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta. Hayes went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts over the last two days and is just a few days removed from a multi-week stint on the injured list, so he will get a breather Monday. Jared Triolo will man the hot corner in place of Hayes.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: On bench Friday
Hayes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Jared Triolo gets the start at third base, batting sixth against right-hander Colin Rea. There has been no word of a setback with Hayes' lower back nor has there been any mention of a new injury, so it seems the Pirates are just being cautious with Hayes and easing him back into regular action following his IL stint. Hayes has gone 1-for-7 with an RBI in his first two games back.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Activated from IL
The Pirates reinstated Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Hayes won't be in the Pirates' lineup Tuesday against the Tigers, but he was deemed healthy enough to rejoin Bucs' active roster after going 1-for-9 with a run scored during his three-game rehab assignment in Triple-A. Hayes has been on the IL since July 7 and will most likely return to action Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Resumes baseball activity
Hayes (back) resumed baseball activity Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Hayes has played in only one game since June 24, though he took a step forward by running, taking grounders and hitting Wednesday. Pittsburgh placed Hayes on the 10-day injured list Friday with lower-back discomfort.
