Hays also sat out Saturday against a righty without appearing off the bench, and he's sitting again against righty Tanner Houck in the regular-season finale. Orioles' Austin Hays: Sitting down Saturday
Hays isn't in the Orioles' lineup Saturday against the Red Sox. After going 0-for-7 with two strikeouts through the first two games of the series, Hays will get a breather during the penultimate game of the season. Aaron Hicks will enter as Baltimore's left fielder while batting seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Gets on base three times
Hays went 2-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Nationals. The steal was Hays' fifth of the season and his first since Aug. 26. The outfielder was atop the lineup versus southpaw Patrick Corbin -- this was the first time he's hit leadoff since Sept. 4. Hays has been steady throughout the season, batting .279 with a .779 OPS, 16 home runs, 67 RBI and 76 runs scored over 142 contests as the Orioles' primary left fielder. He's been a little down in September, hitting .265 with three homers over 25 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Out of lineup
Hays isn't starting Saturday against the Guardians, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Hays is 0-for-10 with four strikeouts over his last three games, so he'll get a day off to clear his head Saturday. Aaron Hicks will take over in left field and bat sixth while Hays is out.... Orioles' Austin Hays: Clubs pair of homers
Hays went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Astros. Hays swatted his 15th and 16th long balls of 2023 on Tuesday, tagging Hunter Brown for a three-run shot in the third inning and Jose Urquidy for a solo homer in the seventh. The outfielder has now collected multiple hits in two of his last three games, a span in which he's 5-for-13 (.385) with five RBI and three runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Takes seat Friday
Hays is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays. Hays had made three straight starts in left field while going 2-for-10 with one walk and three strikeouts. Aaron Hicks will get a turn in left and hit fifth Friday versus the Rays and right-hander Zach Eflin.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Gets Monday off
Hays is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. After six straight starts, Hays will get a breather in the series opener versus St. Louis while Orioles manager Brandon Hyde finds room in the lineup for the hot-hitting Aaron Hicks. Hays saw a five-game hitting streak come to an end after he struck out in all four of his plate appearances in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Perfect at plate in win
Hays went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI and three runs scored in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Angels. Hays has gotten himself on track again, going 22-for-65 (.338) with four homers and 13 RBI over his last 18 games. This was his fourth game with four or more hits this season. The outfielder's steady hitting has helped him hold down a starting role in left field. Hays is slashing .288/.334/.465 with 14 homers, 58 RBI, 68 runs scored, four stolen bases, 34 doubles and two triples through 123 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: On bench Sunday
Hays is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. He'll take a seat in favor of Aaron Hicks (back) , who will pick up a start in his return from the 10-day injured list. Hays has been sizzling hot at the plate of late, slashing .318/.412/.568 in 12 games dating back to Aug. 18.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Sitting out Wednesday
Hays is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the White Sox, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Hays didn't start Monday and he will get another breather Wednesday. Adam Frazier is covering left field with Jordan Westburg at second base.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Absent from Monday's lineup
Hays is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, according to Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com. Hays started 11 straight games and posted a 1.071 OPS over that span, but he will get a day off after a couple hitless appearances. Ryan McKenna will replace Hays in right field Monday night.... Orioles' Austin Hays: Records steal in win
Hays went 0-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Rockies. Hays walked, stole a base and scored in the fifth inning to get Baltimore on the board. He's not the speediest of players, but two of his four steals this year have come over the last seven games. The outfielder saw his seven-game hitting streak end Saturday, but he's now at a .282/.331/.460 slash line with 13 home runs, 53 RBI, 61 runs scored, 32 doubles and two triples across 115 contests.... Orioles' Austin Hays: Homer, double in win
Hays went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the Rockies. Hays extended a modest hitting streak to seven games with a double in the first, then pulled the Orioles to within one with his 13th home run in the sixth. Hays has rebounded from a rough month of July in which he hit only .162, batting .282 in 71 August at-bats. He is now slashing .284/.332/.463 on the season and maintains a role as the regular cleanup hitter against lefties.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Homer, double in loss
Hays went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to the Padres. Hays was a bright spot in an otherwise ugly game for the Orioles. The outfielder has needed a spark in recent weeks -- he has just three multi-hit efforts over 28 games since the All-Star break, a span in which he's hitting a mere .192. The slump has knocked his slash line down to .281/.321/.445 with 11 homers, 46 RBI, 54 runs scored, two stolen bases and 27 doubles over 106 contests. He's seen less playing time lately, and with Aaron Hicks (hamstring/back) on the roster again, Hays can't afford to stay cold at the plate much longer.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Held out Monday
Hays is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres. Hays had a 4-for-5 game early in August, but he otherwise racked up just five hits over his last 13 games, so he will get another day off after receiving one Friday. Aaron Hicks will slot into left field for the Orioles on Monday night.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: On bench Friday
Hays is not in the lineup Friday against the Mariners. Hays will grab some rest after going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Thursday's series finale against the Astros. Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Ryan O'Hearn are starting across the outfield for the Orioles on Friday in Seattle.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Pops homer No. 10
Hays went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Astros. He supplied all of Baltimore's offense by taking Cristian Javier deep in the fourth inning. It's Hays' 10th long ball of the season but his first since the All-Star break, snapping a 22-game drought, and he's slashing a sluggish .184/.226/.264 to begin the unofficial second half.... Orioles' Austin Hays: Returns to lineup
Hays (general soreness) is starting in left field and batting cleanup in his return to the lineup Tuesday versus the Astros, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Hays didn't start the previous two games after getting banged up on a couple of diving catches, but he's ready to roll following Monday's off day. The 28-year-old and his teammates will be tasked Tuesday with solving Framber Valdez, who is coming off having thrown a no-hitter against the Guardians in his most recent start.... See More ... Orioles' Austin Hays: Managing soreness
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Hays was out of the lineup Saturday and Sunday against the Mets due to some soreness, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Hays is a bit banged up after some diving catches in the outfield over the past few days, leading him to be kept out of the starting nine for the last two games versus the Mets. The 28-year-old will now have Monday's team off day to rest up ahead of Tuesday's series opener against Houston.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Austin Hays: Sits in second straight
Hays is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets. Hays is on the bench for the second straight day, and while the Orioles haven't provided clarity behind the nature of the consecutive absences, the outfielder may be recovering from an injury he picked up in Friday's 10-3 win. Whether Hays is dealing with an injury or not, fantasy managers in weekly leagues will still want to verify that he's back in the lineup Tuesday when the Orioles open a six-game week with a matchup against the Astros....
