  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Third career multi-homer game

Friedl went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk in Wednesday's win over Atlanta.

It was the third career multi-homer effort by Friedl, who also snapped a 26-game homerless drought in the process. The outfielder has reached base safely in five of his six outings in May, during which he's batting a healthy .261 with three stolen bases, five runs scored and four walks over 23 at-bats. The lefty-hitting Friedl's struggles versus southpaws should continue to inhibit his overall fantasy volume and upside -- he has a .578 OPS against left-handed pitching -- but he does sport a .784 OPS against righties this season.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Reaches three times in loss

Friedl went 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to Atlanta.

Friedl worked multiple walks for just the second time this season. He also swiped his third bag in his last five games, bringing him up to eight for the season. Friedl had only nine steals in 85 games last year after totaling 27 the year before. He's currently on pace to set a new career high in that category.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Getting day off versus lefty

Friedl is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

The lefty-hitting Friedl will receive a breather Sunday while the Nationals send lefty MacKenzie Gore to the bump for the series finale. Blake Dunn will fill in for Friedl in center field.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Runs hit streak to six games

Friedl went 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Miami.

Friedl has hit safely in six consecutive games, going 12-for-27 with two doubles, a triple, two steals and five RBI during that span. He's up to four stolen bases (twice caught) over 22 games this season. Healthy again following an injury-marred 2024, Friedl is a threat to steal 20 bags over a full campaign.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Perfect at the plate in loss

Friedl went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-5 loss to the Orioles.

Friedl was a thorn in the Orioles' side all game and has now tallied multiple hits in three straight contests. The 29-year-old continues to hit atop the Reds' lineup and owns a .307/.361/.387 slash with one home run, nine RBI, 11 runs scored and three steals across 84 plate appearances this season.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Sitting versus southpaw

Friedl is not in the Reds' starting lineup against the Orioles on Friday.

It's the first time since March 30 that Friedl will get a day off, with Blake Dunn getting the start in center field and batting ninth against Orioles southpaw Cade Povich in his place. Friedl has reached base safely in each of his last seven games, and over that span he has gone 8-for-27 with two walks, one stolen base, five runs scored and three RBI.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Scores twice in win

Friedl went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 4-0 win over Pittsburgh.

Friedl laced a double in the third inning and came in to score on a two-run single. He later reached on a forceout and scored a second run. He's hit safely and scored at least a run in four consecutive games. Not surprisingly, Cincinnati's leadoff hitter tops the club with 11 runs.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Four hits, homer in win

Friedl went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Saturday's 11-7 win over the Brewers.

Friedl matched a career-high with four hits Saturday, headlined by a home run off Elvin Rodriguez in the fourth inning, his first this season. The 29-year-old Friedl is now 10-for-34 (.294) to start the year with three RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Logs first steal

Friedl went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's 14-3 win over the Rangers.

Friedl returned to the lineup after getting Sunday off. He was back at leadoff, which was a good place to be Monday. The two batters behind him, Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz, went a combined 6-for-8 with three home runs, a double and 10 RBI. In addition to scoring twice, Friedl swiped his first bag of the season. He's looking to put an injury-marred 2024 behind him and should register double-digit thefts if given good health. He stole 27 bases in 138 games in 2023 before falling back to nine over 85 games in 2024.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Idle versus lefty

Friedl is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

The lefty-swinging Friedl will get his first day off of the season while the Giants send southpaw Robbie Ray to the hill for the series finale. Matt McLain will settle into the leadoff spot in place of Friedl, who went 2-for-9 with an RBI and a run through the first two contests of the series.

  • Reds' TJ Friedl: Penciled into leadoff spot

Friedl is projected to serve as the Reds' Opening Day center fielder and leadoff hitter Thursday against the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of Cincinnati Magazine reports.

Friedl looks poised to return to the role of primary table-setter in Cincinnati -- a spot he filled regularly under former manager David Bell. Injuries limited Friedl to just 85 games last season and likely sapped his effectiveness at the plate, as his OPS plummeted from .819 in 2023 to just .690 in 2024. The 29-year-old managed only two extra-base hits (both doubles) and didn't steal a base this spring, but he at least got on base at a .352 clip across 54 Cactus League plate appearances.
