Miranda will undergo surgery on his injured right shoulder Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Miranda is having a consultation Wednesday before undergoing the procedure Thursday. More information regarding the exact nature of the operation and a potential rehab timetable is expected after the surgery, but at the very least it's going to end his 2023 campaign. Miranda has been sidelined since mid-July with a right shoulder impingement.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Jose Miranda: Moves to 60-day IL
The Twins transferred Miranda (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday. Miranda was already expected to be out until late September, but his move to the 60-day IL ensures he's out until at least Sept. 15. His spot on the 40-man roster will be filled by Andrew Stevenson, who was selected from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Starts hitting of tee
Miranda (shoulder) has started hitting off a tee and throwing at about 50 percent from 60 feet, The Athletic reports. Miranda received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his injured right shoulder in mid-July. He's finally showing some signs of improvement and said he hopes to begin a rehab assignment in three weeks. He could return in late September if all goes well, though the Twins may not need him on the active roster.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Plasma injection in shoulder
Miranda received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured right shoulder and will be shut down for at least a week before the Twins determine the next course of action, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. An MRI exam on Miranda's shoulder revealed an impingement. It sounds like he'll be out several more weeks as a result even in a best-case scenario.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Officially placed on injured list
Miranda was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a right shoulder impingement. Miranda was scratched Friday due to shoulder soreness, an issue which turns out to be serious enough to sideline him for at least 10 days. The young third baseman has dealt with shoulder issues this season dating back to spring training, which may partially explain his poor .211/.263/.303 slash line. Matt Wallner was recalled to take his place on the roster.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Heading to IL with shoulder issue
Miranda is likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list due to a sore shoulder, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. MIranda was scratched with the issue before Friday's game. Miranda has been bothered by the shoulder since spring training and it's a bad sign he had a setback after resting during the All-Star break. Matt Wallner is likely to be recalled from Triple-A, with Kyle Farmer, Willi Castro and Donovan Solano likely to split time at third base until Royce Lewis returns.... See More ... See Less -

Alex Kirilloff will enter the lineup at first base as Kyle Farmer moves to third base and Donovan Solano slides to second.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Taking seat Wednesday
Miranda is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Royals. Miranda started each of the last three days at third base after coming up to take Royce Lewis' (oblique) roster spot but went hitless in each game. He'll now take a seat for this one in favor of Donovan Solano.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Called up, starting Sunday
The Twins recalled Miranda from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He'll start at third base and bat seventh in the Twins' series finale in Baltimore. Miranda is back in the big leagues for the first time since early May, rejoining the Twins as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for Royce Lewis (oblique), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Though he wasn't able to build on his promising rookie campaign during his time in the majors earlier in 2023, Miranda's dormant bat has awoken at St. Paul. He finished June with a .287/.362/.436 slash line while striking out just 17 times in 23 games, and Miranda should now get another chance to step in as the Twins' primary option at third base while Lewis is on the mend.... Twins' Jose Miranda: Expected to be called up
Miranda was scratched from the Triple-A St. Paul lineup Saturday and is expected to be called up after Royce Lewis left Saturday's Twins game with a strained oblique muscle, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Miranda began the season as Minnesota's everyday third baseman, but he was sent to Triple-A on May 10 after hitting just .220/.275/.318. Miranda hasn't been much better at Triple-A, as he's hit just .255/.326/.360 in 39 games. However, he has shown some progress lately, hitting .305/.374/.476 with two home runs in his last 20 games.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Bound for Triple-A
The Twins optioned Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Miranda will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to infielder Kyle Farmer (mouth), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. While Miranda's impending demotion is shocking on the surface following his impressive rookie campaign in 2022, the 24-year-old is in the midst of a prolonged funk at the plate. He's gone just 6-for-36 over his last 10 games and is slashing .220/.275/.318 on the season, with his .593 OPS representing a 158-point drop from 2022. Ideally, Miranda will be in store for a brief stint in the minors to regain confidence and get his timing back at the plate before he steps back into an everyday role with the Twins at third base. In the meantime, the Twins are likely to turn to a combination of Farmer and Willi Castro to handle the hot corner.... See More ... See Less -

Twins' Jose Miranda: Plays third with no issues
Miranda started at third base and went 0-for-3 with two walks in Thursday's season-opening win at Kansas City. Miranda was limited to DH and first base for most of spring training due to a sore throwing shoulder. However, it looks like he's ready for everyday duty at the hot corner with the start of the regular season. His sore shoulder wasn't an issue at the plate as Miranda had a tremendous spring with five home runs and a 1.225 OPS.... See More ... See Less -

Twins' Jose Miranda: Will start at third base Saturday
Miranda (shoulder) will start at third base for the Twins during Saturday's Grapefruit League game versus Atlanta, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Miranda has been limited to designated hitter and, more recently, first base duties while coming back from a sore right shoulder, but he's finally ready to test things out from the hot corner. He's slated to see most of his playing time at third base during the regular season, although Miranda could be eased into the position in the early going.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Expected to play first base Tuesday
Miranda (shoulder) is expected to play first base for the Twins on Tuesday in their Grapefruit League contest versus the Rays, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Miranda has been limited to designated hitter duties while he works through some soreness in his right shoulder, but he's been throwing from 120 feet without issue lately. The plan is to mostly play him at third base this season and the club would like to get him into some spring games at the hot corner, but they could ease him back into things are first base initially, especially if Alex Kirilloff (wrist) isn't available. The shoulder has not affected Miranda at the plate, which his 1.079 OPS and three homers this spring can attest.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Miranda: Throwing without issues
Miranda (shoulder) began a throwing progression Friday without issues, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Shoulder soreness popped up for Miranda early in camp and forced him to withdraw from the World Baseball Classic. Whether or not he'll be able to handle the hot corner by Opening Day is unclear, but he'll at least be able to serve as the designated hitter, the position he's been playing so far this spring.... Twins' Jose Miranda: Chance to be 3B-ready for opener
Miranda (shoulder) has a "very realistic chance" of being ready to play third base on Opening Day, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli told Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com on Tuesday. Miranda tested out his right shoulder with a plyo ball Tuesday and expects to be ready to throw a regular baseball in 2-3 days. If he can avoid setbacks, it sounds like he should be ready to handle the hot corner come March 30. Even if he's not quite ready to play the field, Miranda could serve as the first baseman or designated hitter for a bit. He's already homered three times out of the DH spot this spring.... Twins' Jose Miranda: Out of WBC due to shoulder
Miranda (shoulder) withdrew Wednesday from competing for the Puerto Rican team in the World Baseball Classic, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Miranda recently experienced right shoulder soreness in Twins camp, so he'll cancel his plans to play in the upcoming WBC and focus on his rehab. The issue doesn't seem to be a huge concern -- he's taken three Grapefruit League at-bats out of the designated-hitter spot -- but now the 24-year-old can simply focus on being ready to handle third base for Minnesota once he's cleared to throw again. He posted an encouraging .751 OPS with 15 home runs and 66 RBI over his first 125 big-league games in 2022.... See More ... See Less
