Phillips picked up the save in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Giants, striking out one over a perfect inning. Phillips will wrap up the regular season having allowed just one earned run in his last 18.1 innings, going 9-for-10 in save opportunities in that span. While the Dodgers employed a committee at times this season, the 29-year-old Phillips emerged as their top closing option in the second half. He'll wrap up the campaign with a 2.05 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 66:13 K:BB across 61.1 innings while converting 24 of 27 save chances.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Blows save but earns win
Phillips (2-4) blew a save but earned the win over Seattle on Saturday, allowing an unearned run on two hits and one walk over one inning. The game was scoreless after nine innings before Los Angeles put up a run in the top of the 10th. Phillips entered in the bottom of the frame looking for a challenging save and retired the first two batters he faced before giving up a two-out single to Mike Ford that scored the tying run. Phillips then surrendered a double and issued an intentional walk to load the bases, but he escaped the jam by getting Teoscar Hernandez to ground out, and Phillips earned the win as a result of the Dodgers plating five runs in the top of the 11th. The blown save was hardly a meltdown considering the circumstances, but it was still Phillips' first since July 4. He's been excellent since then, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB over 21.2 frames while picking up 11 saves.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches 23rd save
Phillips allowed two hits and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-3 win over the Mariners. Phillips again flirted with danger after taking a loss in his outing Monday versus the Padres. He had runners on the corners with two outs but got Teoscar Hernandez to strike out to end the threat. Phillips is 23-for-25 in save chances while adding six saves this season, and he's maintained a 2.43 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB through 55.2 innings. He's converted his last 11 save chances in a row.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches 22nd save
Phillips struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 22nd save of the season in an 8-5 win over the Nationals. The right-hander needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to convert his 10th straight save chance, fanning Jake Alu and Carter Kieboom to wrap things up. Phillips' last blown save came in early July, and he sports a stellar 1.47 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 18.1 innings since the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Earns 21st save
Phillips picked up the save Sunday against the Red Sox. He allowed one hit with no walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning. Phillips worked around a one-out single to slam the door on the Red Sox and earn the save. It was the 21st save in 23 opportunities for Phillips, who now holds a 2.34 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 55 strikeouts over 50 innings on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Earns save in matinee
Phillips pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in a 3-1 win over the Marlins in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader. Phillips has picked up a save in each of his last seven outings, and he's kept runs off the board in his last four appearances. He's 19-for-21 in save conversions this season while pitching to a 2.49 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 52:11 K:BB over 47 innings overall. Phillips and Brusdar Graterol each earned a save as the Dodgers swept the doubleheader Saturday, but the former has the edge for ninth-inning duties.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Picks up save Thursday
Phillips earned a save over the Brewers on Thursday, walking one batter and striking out two in a scoreless inning. The two teams went head-to-head in a scoreless duel until Austin Barnes knocked a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth frame. Phillips was then brought in to protect that tenuous lead and retired the first two batters he faced before walking Sal Frelick. Frelick made it to second on a stolen base, but Phillips ended the threat by striking out Willy Adames. Phillips shared ninth-inning duties with Brusdar Graterol earlier in the campaign, but he's since emerged as Los Angeles' no-doubt closer, notching a save in each of his past six appearances and converting 18 of 20 chances on the campaign.... Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Strikes out side in 17th save
Phillips pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts to earn the save in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Rockies. Phillips needed just 13 pitches (nine strikes) to retire the top of the Rockies' lineup in the ninth inning. This was his second clean outing in a row after he opened August with three runs allowed over 2.1 innings. The closer is at a 2.60 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 50:10 K:BB with 17 saves and six holds through 45 innings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Clean inning for save
Phillips pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Phillips gave up two runs in an inning to earn the save Tuesday, but he was much sharper in Wednesday's outing. He needed 12 pitches (seven strikes) to finish off the shutout win with his first scoreless appearance out of three in August. Phillips is at a 2.66 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB while adding 16 saves and six holds over 44 innings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Shaky in 15th save
Phillips allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over one inning, earning the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Phillips was tasked with protecting a three-run lead but nearly made a mess of it before getting Corbin Carroll to ground into a game-ending double-play. This was just the fourth time Phillips has allowed multiple runs this season, though he's also been scored on in each of his last two outings. He's now at a 2.72 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB with 15 saves and six holds through 43 innings overall.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Collects save Friday
Phillips allowed one run on one hit over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Friday's 10-5 win over the Padres. He did not strike out or walk a batter. Phillips entered with two outs and two on in the eighth inning and escaped the jam to protect a three-run lead. The Dodgers then tacked on three runs in the ninth, though Phillips gave one of them back on a solo home run by Juan Soto. Phillips is up to 14 saves in 16 chances this season while serving as the Dodgers' top high-leverage option, and the fact that the team didn't make any high-profile additions at the trade deadline gives him some job security. He's added a 2.36 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 47:9 K:BB with six holds over 42 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Picks up 13th save
Phillips allowed a hit and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Reds. Phillips had not received a save chance since he blew one July 4. His strong showing Saturday extended his scoreless streak to 5.2 innings over his last six appearances. Ryan Brasier and Alex Vesia each picked up a save this month, making the back end of the Dodgers bullpen a tricky one to forecast over the remaining two months. Phillips is still in the closer committee, as is Brusdar Graterol, though the recently re-acquired Joe Kelly could also enter that mix. Phillips has a 2.21 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 47:9 K:BB through 40.2 innings this season while adding 13 saves and six holds.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Blows save Tuesday
Phillips (1-3) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over one inning, taking the loss and a blown save in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Pirates. Phillips' 10.1-inning scoreless streak came to a sudden halt when he failed to protect a one-run lead. He gave up all of three runs over 11 appearances in June, and this was just the third time in 36 outings he's surrendered multiple runs. The poor performance puts him at 12-for-14 in save chances while pitching to a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB through 35 innings. This was his third consecutive day on the mound, which may have played a part in his struggles, and he'll likely be unavailable if a save chance arises Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Earns 12th save
Phillips hit a batter but did not yield a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Monday's 5-2 win over the Pirates. Phillips threw 14 pitches (nine strikes) in the outing, erasing the hit batsman with a double play before getting Bryan Reynolds to fly out. Phillips has put a runner on base in four of his last five appearances, but he's riding a 10.1-inning scoreless streak dating back to June 13. He's up to 12 saves, six holds, a 1.85 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB through 34 innings this season. Phillips remains in a committee situation, but he's pitched well enough to continue seeing save chances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Faces one batter, earns save
Phillips picked up the save in Tuesday's 5-0 win over Colorado. He threw a scoreless one-third of an inning. Phillips entered with the bases loaded and two outs after Phil Bickford handed out three walks in the inning, but he managed to retire his first batter and grab his 11th save of the campaign. After going over a month without logging a save, Phillips has logged four in the last week and looks to be the Dodgers preferred ninth-inning arm at the moment, ahead of Brusdar Graterol.... Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Secures save Saturday
Phillips earned a save against the Astros on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning. After Los Angeles rallied for three runs to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, Phillips was tasked with closing out the win in the ninth. He immediately allowed the tying run to reach base on a Kyle Tucker single, but Tucker was wiped out on a double play, and Phillips finished things off by getting Yainer Diaz to fly out. Brusdar Graterol notched a save in the opener of the series Friday and continues to be a ninth-inning option, but Phillips is the more desirable Dodgers reliever for fantasy purposes, as he's notched three of the team's past four saves and hasn't been scored upon in any of his past five appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Earns eighth save
Phillips struck out two and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save Tuesday against the Angels. The 28-year-old retired the side in order on just 11 pitches to secure his first save since May 12 and eighth of the year. Phillips is the Dodgers' best reliever and remains the team's primary option at closer, but his fantasy value is limited since he receives inconsistent opportunities and is regularly brought in before the ninth inning.... Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Blows save Monday
Phillips was charged with a blown save against Minnesota on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters over one inning. Phillips got the call with Los Angeles up by a run in the top of the ninth frame, but he walked Carlos Correa with one out before allowing a game-tying double to Byron Buxton. He managed to strike out the next two batters to get out of the inning, but the damage resulted in his first blown save of the campaign. Phillips has converted his other seven opportunities and has a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB over 16 innings overall.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches seventh save
Phillips picked up the save in Friday's 4-2 victory over San Diego. He allowed one hit while striking out two over 1.2 scoreless innings. He did not walk a batter. Phillips has been reliable all season, posting a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 14 innings. The right-hander has not blown a save this year. The 28-year-old isn't considered among the game's elite closers, but he's a safe bet to get the job done whenever he enters the game.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Collects save
Phillips picked up the save in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Brewers, retiring the only batter he faced. Phillips entered with two outs and two on the ninth and needed six pitches to induce a groundout from Tyrone Taylor. Brusdar Graterol failed to finish off the ninth with a four-run lead, leading to Phillips' appearance. Phillips leads the team with six saves; Graterol has two.... See More ... See Less
