  • White Sox's Oscar Colas: Could head back to the minors soon

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Colas may be optioned to Triple-A Charlotte soon in order to play on an everyday basis, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Colas hasn't started a game in a week, and while Grifol said he plans to put the outfielder in the lineup soon, he admitted that it might be more beneficial for the 25-year-old to go back to the minors. The outfielder has gone 9-for-30 at the plate during his limited chances with the White Sox this season, although all nine hits have been singles. Chicago will be sellers at the trade deadline, and playing time for Colas could open up at that point.

  • White Sox's Oscar Colas: Fading into reserve role

Colas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Colas is on the bench for the third game in a row and looks like he'll serve as little more than a fourth or fifth outfielder for the White Sox following the recent returns of Tommy Pham and Andrew Benintendi from the injured list.

  • White Sox's Oscar Colas: Not starting Monday

Colas is not in the starting lineup for the White Sox's series opener against the Mariners on Monday.

Colas will begin Monday's game in the dugout after starting in each of the last three games. He went 3-for-11 with two RBI in the four-game series against the Red Sox. The lefty-hitting Zach DeLoach will start in right field and bat eighth against Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert.

  • White Sox's Oscar Colas: Drives in pair

Colas went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Friday against the Red Sox.

Colas started for the third time in five games since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, as he's trading off starts with Gavin Sheets in right field. Colas drove in his second and third runs of the season with a single in the fourth frame. There's not much to take away from a limited sample of 15 plate appearances since he rejoined the White Sox, though Colas has struck out only three times in that span.

  • White Sox's Oscar Colas: Resting Thursday

Colas isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Colas registered his first hit in the majors this season during Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, and he'll now take a seat for Thursday's series opener versus Boston. Zach DeLoach, Duke Ellis and Gavin Sheets will start across the White Sox's outfield with Luis Robert in as the DH.
