  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Surgery scheduled

Conine will undergo surgery on his left shoulder Tuesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Conine will meet with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday before his operation, and afterward we may know more about the 27-year-old's chances of returning at some point this season. He had been slashing .281/.352/.438 through 71 plate appearances but was placed directly on the 60-day injured list Sunday after dislocating his shoulder.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Placed on 60-day IL

The Marlins placed Conine on the 60-day injured list Sunday with a dislocated left shoulder. The 27-year-old was enjoying a solid start to the campaign with a .790 OPS in 71 plate appearances, but he'll be out for at least the next two months after suffering a dislocated shoulder on a slide into second base Saturday. Conine is scheduled to undergo more medical testing Monday, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Diagnosed with left shoulder injury

Conine exited Saturday's game against the Phillies due to a left shoulder injury, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports. Conine suffered the injury while sliding into second base on a two-run double and appeared to be in serious pain. He'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but if he's out for an extended period of time, Dane Myers and Javier Sanoja would be in line to see more playing time in the outfield.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Exits Saturday's game

Conine left in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Phillies due to a left arm injury, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports. Conine drove in a two-run double in the sixth inning, but he appeared to injure his left arm while sliding into second base. He looked to be in serious pain after the slide and a trainer was holding his left arm while he walked off the field. Given the initial reaction, it wouldn't be surprising if Conine requires a trip to the injured list. The Marlins should update his status in the near future.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Knocks in two runs Sunday

Conine went 2-for-3 with two walks, one run scored and two RBI in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Nationals. Conine got the Marlins on the board with a one-run single in the second inning, and he knocked in a second run in the eighth frame on a single to right field. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .304/.385/.435 with six walks, seven runs scored, one home run and five RBI across 52 plate appearances to start the season.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Taking seat against southpaw

Conine is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets. The Marlins are facing a lefty for the third game in a row and this is the second time over that stretch that the left-handed hitting Conine has been out of the lineup. Dane Myers is starting in right field Monday.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Taking seat against LHP

Conine is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates. Conine is 1-for-4 through the Marlins' first two contests and will now get a chance to rest Saturday with southpaw Bailey Falter starting on the bump for Pittsburgh. Dane Myers will occupy right field instead while batting fifth.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Making case for left field job

Conine went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals. The 27-year-old took Erick Fedde deep in the second inning for a two-run shot as he continues to make a push for the Marlins' starting job in left field. The homer was Conine's first of the spring and he has just a .259 batting average (7-for-27), but his main competition, Kyle Stowers, is hitting just .176 (3-for-17) with nine strikeouts, although he's also drawn seven walks. The Marlins arguably have more invested in Stowers after picking him up from the Orioles last season, but per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the team would like to take a longer look at both players to determine if either can be a big part of the future. This job battle could come down to the wire, and might extend into the regular season if both Conine and Stowers are included on the 26-man roster.

Conine went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's win over Toronto. Conine hit a two-run single during Miami's three-run fourth inning before knocking a solo shot in the seventh. It was his third home run in his 28th career MLB appearance and two of those have come in his last seven games. Conine is slashing .257/.321/.446 over 81 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Conine is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game at Minnesota. The 27-year-old will typically sit against a left-handed pitcher, but he's on the bench Tuesday versus Twins righty Bailey Ober. Conine is batting .160 with a 34.5 percent strikeout rate in his past 13 games.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Idle against lefty

Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. The Marlins have faced five consecutive left-handed starting pitchers, and the lefty-hitting Conine has now been on the bench for four of those matchups. Javier Sanoja will step in as Conine's replacement in left field Sunday.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Sitting against southpaw

Conine isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals. The lefty-hitting Conine will grab a seat on the bench to begin Saturday's contest while the lefty-throwing Patrick Corbin starts on the mound for Washington. Kyle Stowers, Javier Sanoja and Jesus Sanchez will start across Miami's outfield while Conine rests.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Out against left-hander

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Hits first MLB homer

Conine went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's win over the Giants. Conine put the Marlins on the board with a two-run shot to right field in his first at-bat, marking the first long ball of his major league career. The rookie outfielder has now hit safely in three of his first five games since being called up, batting .250 (4-for-16) over that brief stretch with three RBI and three runs scored. Three of Conine's four hits have gone for extra bases.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Promoted to majors

The Marlins selected Conine's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Conine will reach the big leagues for the first time in his career at age 27, replacing the injured Xavier Edwards (back) on the active roster. The outfielder had spent the entire season at Jacksonville, slashing .264/.347/.472 with 19 home runs and 68 RBI over 438 plate appearances. He's expected to serve as a part-time player while he's up with the Marlins and could see occasional starts against right-handed pitching at either designated hitter or in the corner outfield.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Moves up to Double-A

The Marlins promoted Conine from High-A Beloit to Double-A Pensacola on Sunday, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports. Conine will get a tougher test after he clubbed a minor-league leading 23 home runs over 66 games at Beloit. The power production came with a dismal 35.8 percent strikeout rate, however, and the lack of consistent contact coupled with Conine's advanced age -- he turned 24 years old earlier this month -- limits his appeal in dynasty leagues.

  • Blue Jays' Griffin Conine: Makes up for lost time

Conine went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI for Low-A Lansing on Thursday. After collecting a single and striking out twice in his first game of the season Wednesday, Conine showed little rust in game No. 2. The Blue Jays' No. 13 fantasy prospect missed the first 50 games due to a PED suspension, but given that he's already 21 years old and was a second-round pick out of Duke in 2018, his stay in the Midwest League could be a brief one if he continues punishing opposing pitchers like this.
