  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Not starting Saturday

Jimenez isn't in Toronto's lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins. Jimenez will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-3 with a run scored during a blowout loss in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Davis Schneider will start at second base and bat eighth.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Getting regular run at keystone

Jimenez will start at second base and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Rangers. Jimenez will pick up his fourth consecutive start at the keystone, despite going 1-for-9 with three strikeouts over the previous three contests. Even though Jimenez has produced a weak .224/.332/.365 slash line over 184 plate appearances with the big club this season, the Blue Jays could nonetheless stick with him as their primary second baseman the rest of the way with Will Wagner (knee) done for the season and with Davis Schneider having taken on more playing time in left field of late.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Returns to lineup

Jimenez (finger) is starting at second base and batting seventh against St. Louis on Sunday. Jiminez was set to return from a two-game absence due to a foot injury Saturday, but he was a late scratch due to a finger injury. He appears to be over both issues and will be in action for the series finale. Since Aug. 1, Jiminez is slashing .247/.381/.471 with four home runs, 14 RBI and a 30.5 percent strikeout rate across 105 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Scratched from lineup

Jimenez was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals due to a right index finger contusion, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Jimenez was set to return from a two-game absence caused by foot soreness. He's now dealing with a new injury, and it's unclear how long he will be sidelined.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Tending to sore foot

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Jimenez is tending to a left foot injury, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. "He's pretty sore pushing off of [the foot]," Schneider said. So we want to be careful with it." Even though he typically starts against left-handed pitchers like the Mets' Sean Manaea, Jimenez will take a seat for Wednesday's series finale after he was hit in the foot in Tuesday's 6-2 win. Jimenez has now been struck by pitches in four consecutive games and five times in seven September contests, so the infielder should benefit from a day off. The lefty-hitting Will Wagner will pick up a rare start against a lefty Wednesday in Jimenez's stead.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Absent from starting nine

Jimenez (knee) is out of the lineup Monday against Cincinnati. Jimenez tweaked his knee during Saturday's game and will be idle for a second straight contest. Ernie Clement will bat seventh and play shortstop Monday.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Tweaks knee Saturday

Jimenez tweaked his knee backing up a steal attempt in the first inning of Saturday's game against the Cubs, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The Blue Jays don't consider the injury serious and Jimenez isn't undergoing any testing. Jimenez didn't take the field following Saturday's rain delay after tweaking his knee. The removal appears to be precautionary, but Jimenez should still be considered day-to-day.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: First big-league homer

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Monday's 4-2 win over the Angels. In his 30th MLB game, Jimenez finally logged a roundtripper, taking Davis Daniel yard in the third inning for a two-run homer. The 23-year-old shortstop is slashing .224/.309/.341 across 97 plate appearances with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate. He's been the Blue Jays' primary shortstop since Bo Bichette (calf) went down but could cede playing time to Ernie Clement now that infielder Will Wagner is with the big-league club.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Doubles machine in Wednesday's loss

Jimenez went 3-for-4 with three doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Orioles. The 23-year-old produced multiple extra-base hits in a game for the first time in his young career. Jimenez has been feast or (mostly) famine of late, delivering three multi-hit performances in his last 11 games but managing only one hit combined in the other eight. Over his first 76 big-league plate appearances, he's slashing .209/.289/.254 with a 4:23 BB:K, and Jimenez is losing playing time at shortstop to Ernie Clement as the Blue Jays wait for the return of Bo Bichette (calf).

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Moving to bench Sunday

Jimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Jimenez will exit the starting nine for the series finale in New York while the Blue Jays open up a spot on the left side of the infield for Luis De Los Santos, who will cover third base in his first MLB start. Ernie Clement will slide over to shortstop in place of Jimenez, who has served as the Blue Jays' primary option at the position since Bo Bichette (calf) landed on the shelf July 20. Jimenez hasn't offered much to get excited about from a fantasy perspective, as he's slashing .143/.196/.167 with zero home runs or stolen bases in 15 games since the All-Star break.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Taking seat Wednesday

Jimenez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles. Jimenez will head to the bench after he manned shortstop in each of the last four games while going 2-for-15 with an RBI and a run. Ernie Clement will slide over from his usual spot at third base to cover shortstop in place of Jimenez, who is slashing .228/.297/.281 since getting promoted from Triple-A Buffalo on July 2 and stepping in as the primary replacement for the injured Bo Bichette (calf).

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Back starting at shortstop

Jimenez is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Saturday against the Tigers. The 23-year-old received four starts at shortstop heading into the All-Star break with Bo Bichette dealing with a calf strain, and Bichette is now on the injured list after he aggravated the injury Friday. Jimenez is likely to operate as Toronto's primary shortstop in the meantime, and he could have some fantasy utility since he's hit well in his first nine MLB games with a .348/.464/.435 slash line.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Called up by Blue Jays

Toronto recalled Jimenez from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. Jimenez will join the 26-man roster for the first time in his career, filling Isiah Kiner-Falefa's (knee) vacated spot. Jimenez should mix in at second base and potentially third base while Kiner-Falefa is on the IL. Jimenez is slashing .271/.416/.431 with seven homers with Buffalo this season.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Reaches Triple-A

Jimenez was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on Aug. 29 after slashing .287/.372/.436 with eight home runs, eight steals and a 15.9 percent strikeout rate in 76 games for Double-A New Hampshire. He is hitting .214 with no extra-base hits in five games since the promotion, but this has been a very successful year for Jimenez on the whole. The 22-year-old Panamanian middle infielder was added to the 40-man roster as Rule 5 draft protection back in 2021, but it wasn't until this year that he started hitting the ball with enough authority to potentially profile as more than a utility player.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Protected from Rule 5 draft

Jimenez was added to the Blue Jays' 40-man roster Friday. The 20-year-old shortstop is good at everything except hitting for power. He hit .315/.517/.381 with 51 walks in 54 games at Low-A and logged a .438 OBP in the Arizona Fall League. Jimenez is still probably a couple years away from making his big-league debut.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Back in action at Low-A

Jimenez (undisclosed) returned from Low-A Dunedin's 7-day injured list Tuesday and finished 1-for-2 with a solo home run, three walks and two additional runs in the affiliate's 16-6 win over Palm Beach. The 20-year-old infielder was out of commission for about a month and a half with the unspecified injury. Through 39 games on the season at Low-A, Jimenez is getting on base at a prolific .449 clip while striking out in only 13.6 percent of his plate appearances.
