Braves' Dylan Lee: Undergoes shoulder procedure
Lee underwent a cleanup procedure on his left shoulder Friday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Lee posted a 4.18 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 23.2 innings in 2023. However, he missed a large portion of the season due to inflammation in his left shoulder, so he underwent surgery in order to address the issue. The 29-year-old southpaw is expected to be ready for spring training.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Shifts to 60-day IL
Lee (shoulder) was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
The left-hander landed on the shelf with shoulder inflammation last week, and his move to the 60-day IL officially ends his season. Lee was a decent bullpen piece for Atlanta in 2023 with a 4.18 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 23.2 innings.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Moved to 15-day IL
Atlanta placed Lee on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left shoulder inflammation.
Lee was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following the first half of Monday's doubleheader against the Phillies, but that move has now been voided because he injured his shoulder while pitching in a major-league game. The 29-year-old southpaw is not expected to return to the NL East leaders in 2023.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Goes back to Gwinnett
Lee was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader with the Phillies.
Lee tossed eight pitches in the opener of Monday's twin bill, and he wound up ceding his roster spot to fellow pitcher Kyle Wright afterward. Lee has fared well with the big-league club for a couple years, so chances are he will rejoin Atlanta again before the season comes to a close.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Activated from injured list
Lee (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day injured list Friday, Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game reports.
Lee had been out since May with left shoulder inflammation but is finally ready to go following a long rehab. He will provide Atlanta manager Brian Snitker with another southpaw in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Building up to multi-inning role
Lee (shoulder) will be built up to serve as a multi-inning option out of Atlanta's bullpen once he returns from the injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Lee was originally slated to return this week, but the transition into a new role could cause him to be out through the end of August. The 29-year-old lefty holds a 3.10 ERA and 1.23 WHIP through 20.1 innings this season and has been out since May with left shoulder inflammation.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Nearing return to ATL
Lee (shoulder) is likely to be activated from the 60-day injured list by the end of this week, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Lee seems to be done with his minor-league rehab assignment after retiring all six batters he faced between two appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 29-year-old left-hander had posted a sharp 3.10 ERA and 23:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings with Atlanta prior to going down with a shoulder issue in mid-May.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Set for rehab assignment
Lee (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Gwinnett, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Lee made it through a live batting practice session earlier this week without issue and has been cleared to return to live games after missing nearly three full months due to lingering shoulder inflammation. The 29-year-old left-hander had pitched to a 3.10 ERA and 23:7 K:BB in 20.1 innings for Atlanta prior to this lengthy IL stint.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Cleared to face hitters
Lee (shoulder) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Lee is expected to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment over the weekend if all goes well during the live BP session. The 28-year-old southpaw has been on the injured list since May 19 with left shoulder inflammation and will likely need to make multiple appearances in the minors before Atlanta is comfortable adding him back to its bullpen.... Braves' Dylan Lee: Throws bullpen session
Lee (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday in Milwaukee, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Lee is traveling with the NL East leaders on their current road trip and is scheduled to throw another bullpen session next week in Boston. If all goes well in that workout, Atlanta can maybe start thinking about sending him out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old left-hander has been sidelined since mid-May because of shoulder inflammation.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Not ready for rehab games yet
Lee (shoulder) still isn't ready to begin a rehab assignment, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Lee has been sidelined for nearly two months because of inflammation in his left shoulder but hasn't been cleared for game action yet. Atlanta says the reliever has not encountered any setbacks, though, as they are just proceeding cautiously with him. Lee remains on track to return sometime in August.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Moved to 60-day IL
Lee (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Charlie Culberson. Lee has been out since mid-May with left shoulder inflammation and now can't be activated until the second half, although the move doesn't appear to significantly impact his likely timeline for a return as he hasn't yet been sent on a rehab assignment.... Braves' Dylan Lee: Doing flat-ground throwing
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Tuesday that Lee (shoulder) is still limited to flat-ground throwing, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Lee was placed on the injured list in mid-May because of inflammation in his left shoulder and he's not yet ready to take the next step forward in his throwing progression. There won't be a clear timeline for his return to the major-league roster until he begins doing some mound work.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Placed on 15-day IL
Atlanta placed Lee on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 17, with left shoulder inflammation.
Lee struggled in his last appearance Tuesday versus the Rangers, yielding three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and one walk over just 1.1 innings of work. There is no timeline yet for the 28-year-old reliever's return.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Solid work as opener
Lee allowed a walk and struck out three over 2.2 scoreless and hitless innings versus the Red Sox on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.
Lee covered the most innings of the eight pitchers Atlanta used in what ended up being a bullpen game. The 28-year-old hadn't started a game at any level since 2017, so it's unlikely he's a long-term solution for Atlanta's battered rotation, which will be missing Max Fried (forearm) and Kyle Wright (shoulder) for at least two more months. Lee has a 2.41 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB over 18.2 innings this season, and he'll likely continue to serve in a versatile role out of the bullpen, though it's also possible he could be tabbed as an opener again on occasion.... Braves' Dylan Lee: Working as opener Wednesday
Lee will serve as Atlanta's opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Lee will pitch the first inning or two for Atlanta as the club navigates its first turn through the rotation without Max Fried (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday. In 17 appearances thus far, Lee has pitched well with a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB over 16 innings. Atlanta doesn't have a clear designated bulk reliever to work behind Lee, but Collin McHugh and Michael Tonkin should both be able to give the club multiple innings, if necessary.... See More ... Braves' Dylan Lee: Locked in this spring
Lee gave up a hit and struck out two over a scoreless ninth inning during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins.
The 28-year-old is coming off an impressive 2022 campaign in the Atlanta bullpen, and Lee has carried that forward into the spring with an 8:0 K:BB through 5.1 scoreless innings. He's still the team's No. 2 left-handed relief option after A.J. Minter, which could limit him to middle relief rather than a consistent set-up role, but after recording nine holds in 46 appearances last year, Lee seems a pretty safe bet to at least reach double digits in 2023.... Braves' Dylan Lee: Collects seventh hold
Lee gave up a run in two-thirds of an inning while walking one and striking out one to record his seventh hold of the season in a 3-1 loss to the Phillies.
The 28-year-old southpaw finished up the seventh inning for starter Charlie Morton to protect a 1-0 lead but then got the hook after issuing a one-out walk to Rhys Hoskins in the eighth, only to see Collin McHugh fall apart and let Hoskins plus two more Phillies cross the plate. The deadline trade of Will Smith did move Lee up slightly in the pecking order when it comes to lefties in the Atlanta bullpen, but he remains firmly behind A.J. Minter (18 holds) when it comes to high-leverage duty despite Lee's impressive 1.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB through 28 innings on the year.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Dylan Lee: Tallies third hold
Lee gave up a hit and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning in Sunday's extra-innings loss to the Dodgers.
The left-hander took over for Spencer Strider to begin the seventh inning and retired the first two batters he faced before giving up a single to Chris Taylor and getting the hook. Lee remains third in the pecking order among southpaws in the Atlanta bullpen behind Will Smith and A.J. Minter, but that hasn't stopped him from posting a 0.59 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB through 15.1 innings over 11 appearances since rejoining the big-league roster in late May.... See More ...
