  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Day-to-day following MRI on wrist

Abrams is considered day-to-day after an MRI revealed a ganglion cyst on his left wrist, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump which is commonly found on the tendons or joints of the wrists and hands. While the cyst has caused Abrams some discomfort, it's something that will often clear on its own. The shortstop could be back in the lineup this weekend in Colorado.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Not in Thursday's lineup

Abrams (wrist) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Abrams was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 win and was set to undergo an MRI on his left wrist. The results of his imaging haven't been revealed, but Abrams will miss a second straight start Thursday. The Nationals should have more information on the Abrams' condition before long. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Abrams at shortstop.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Dealing with wrist issue

Abrams will undergo an MRI on his left wrist after being scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Mark Zuckerman of reports.

The 23-year-old had a collision on a stolen-base attempt by Corbin Carroll during Tuesday's contest, though it's unclear if that's when the injury was sustained. Abrams should be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's series finale versus Arizona until the results of the MRI are reported.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Scratched from lineup

Abrams was scratched from Wednesday's lineup versus the Diamondbacks, Mark Zuckerman of reports.

The Nationals haven't provided an explanation for why Abrams was scratched, but it's worth noting that he collided with Arizona's Corbin Carroll on the latter's stolen-base attempt in Tuesday's 5-0 loss. The team should provide more information on Abrams' condition later Wednesday. Nasim Nunez will pick up a start at shortstop Wednesday.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Belts 11th homer

Abrams went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Tigers.

The shortstop launched a solo shot off Reese Olson in the third inning to get the Nationals on the board. Abrams has shaken off his May slump, hitting safely in six straight games with six of his seven hits (three doubles, a triple and two homers) during that stretch going for extra bases. On the season, the 23-year-old is slashing .248/.296/.472 with 11 homers, 10 steals, 34 RBI and 38 runs in 61 contests.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Collects steal No. 10

Abrams went 1-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over Atlanta.

The shortstop came through with one of the big blows in a seven-run fourth inning for the Nationals, smashing a bases-loaded double into the right-field corner, and Abrams then promptly stole third base. The two-bagger was his 12th of the season while the steal was his 10th, and Abrams might be coming out of his prolonged slump -- he's hit safely in four straight games and five of the last six with three extra-base hits (two doubles and a homer), two steals, three runs and five RBI.

  • Nationals' CJ Abrams: Homers in loss

Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to Atlanta.

Abrams broke a scoreless tie in the sixth frame with his leadoff homer against Atlanta starter Reynaldo Lopez. The shortstop came into the contest having gone 1-for-21 over his previous seven games and recently missed time due to a shoulder issue, so the long ball was a much-needed positive development. Abrams reached 10 homers on the campaign with Thursday's blast, but he's slashing a meager .246/.293/.456 through 247 plate appearances.
