He is however done for the season, as previously reported. Lodolo finished the 2023 campaign having thrown just 34.1 innings with a 6.29 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB. The southpaw still has plenty of upside heading into 2024, but he'll have to show he can stay healthy.

After covering three scoreless innings in the second start of his rehab assignment Aug. 15, Lodolo retired two fewer hitters Sunday but still threw 12 more pitches (61, 34 for strikes) than he had in his previous outing (49). The Reds would have likely wanted to see a more efficient performance from Lodolo, but the young lefty might have done enough to make his next start with the big club. With a postponement Monday creating a doubleheader Wednesday, the Reds are beginning a stretch of six games in five days, and the pitching-strapped club could be willing to bring Lodolo back from the 60-day injured list later this week even though he's not yet fully stretched out for a traditional starter's workload. But it goes to show you how desperate Fantasy teams are for quality pitching, which is also why the other 40 percent of CBS Sports leagues should take note that he's gearing up to return. He began a rehab assignment Friday, striking out four over two scoreless innings in Rookie ball. But wait, isn't he likely to do more harm than good when he returns? True, he was getting burned by the long ball early on, but he was still throwing tons of strikes and getting tons of whiffs.
