  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Takes first swings post-surgery

Dominguez (elbow) took approximately 20 swings off a batting tee Monday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports. Swinging off a tee for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery in September, Dominguez said he checked out fine and plans to swing the bat again Wednesday. He's been able to take part in outfield drills this spring, but he'll still need to complete hitting and throwing programs before he's ready to play in games, likely at some point during the summer.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Swinging from right side Monday

Dominguez (elbow) will begin swinging a bat from the right side of the plate Monday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. The switch hitter will start incorporating swings from the left side in a few weeks. Dominguez has already been going through other fielding and throwing drills in camp and remains on track for a midseason return from Tommy John surgery.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Begins throwing

Dominguez (elbow) has begun throwing and is slated to begin hitting on Feb. 26, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Dominguez's recovery from Tommy John surgery has come along swimmingly, but his rough timetable to return of sometime during the summer remains unchanged. The young outfielder was placed on the 60-day injured list earlier this week.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Slated to play catch soon

Dominguez (elbow) is scheduled to play catch soon and expected to begin swinging a bat before the end of spring training, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez has already been shagging fly balls as he works his way back from late-September Tommy John surgery. The Yankees are offering only the rough timetable of "summer" for the young outfielder's projected return at this point, with more clarity on that front available likely after Opening Day.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Not guaranteed CF job post-recovery

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Dominguez (elbow) is not guaranteed to immediately step in as the team's starting center fielder when he returns to full health, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez debuted with New York this past September and posted a robust .980 OPS with four home runs across his first eight major-league games before requiring Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery just a few weeks later. He projects to be recovered from that procedure around the middle of the 2024 campaign, but the 20-year-old rising star may spend a bit more time in the minors beyond the typical rehab assignment.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Set for UCL surgery Wednesday

Dominguez will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the torn UCL in his right elbow, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. It won't be known until the operation whether Dominguez will require Tommy John surgery, an internal brace procedure or a combination of the two. Either way, the expected recovery time is 9-to-10 months, which means the young outfielder is likely to be sidelined until around midseason of 2024.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Likely to miss first half of 2024

Dominguez is likely to miss the first half of the 2024 season after being diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. The recovery from Tommy John surgery for position players isn't as long as it is for pitchers, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Dominguez's recovery will likely take 9-10 months. That suggests a return around the All-Star break of next season would be a best-case scenario for the young outfielder. The 20-year-old Dominguez made a great first impression in the big leagues, batting .258 with four home runs, a double, seven RBI, six runs and a steal over eight games.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Scratched with elbow inflammation

Dominguez was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Brewers due to right elbow inflammation. It's unclear when the injury cropped up for Dominguez, who has started all eight games in center field since being called up by the Yankees on Sept. 1. The 20-year-old could be headed for medical imaging, and the organization is likely to be cautious with its top prospect amid the closing stretch of a lost season. Isiah Kiner-Falefa replaced him in center field Sunday.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Batting third again in home debut

Dominguez is starting in center field and batting third in Tuesday's game versus the Tigers. Dominguez batted fifth in his major-league debut but has now been in the No. 3 spot for each of his next three games. The rookie has picked up one hit in each contest thus far, including a pair of home runs. Dominguez and his teammates will face Alex Faedo in Tuesday's contest.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Batting third Saturday

Dominguez is starting in center field and hitting third Saturday against the Astros. Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in his big-league debut Friday, and the home run came off Justin Verlander on his first swing as a big leaguer. Anthony Volpe and Gleyber Torres (back) have recently occupied the three hole, but it's possible Dominguez stays in this prime spot if he continues to produce.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Promotion made official

The Yankees selected Dominguez's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. News broke Thursday that Dominguez was on his way to the big leagues and his promotion has now been made official. The 20-year-old got off to a slow start in the minors this season but slashed .348/.419/.507 with five home runs and 21 steals across his last 50 games between Double-A Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He'll get an opportunity as the Yankees' everyday center fielder down the stretch.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Possible waiver wire pickups

Hyped as the next Mike Trout from the time he was 16 years old, Dominguez hasn't exactly steamrolled his way to the majors, but the Yankees are nonetheless giving him a shot at age 20 in the hope he stakes out a job for 2024. He's arriving on a high note, at least, having hit .364 (68 for 187) with a .980 OPS in his past 45 games, but it took that kind of surge just to get his season batting average to .265. His exit velocities hint of big power in the future, but it mostly manifested as doubles during his hot streak. Still, he knows how to take a walk and is aggressive on the base paths. Whenever a player arrives this young, with this sort of pedigree, you'd be wise not to underestimate his upside. Growing pains are to be expected, but since he's here to play, presumably taking Harrison Bader's spot in center field, Dominguez is a must-add at least in five-outfielder leagues.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Getting call to majors

The Yankees will call up Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of Friday's series opener in Houston, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. "The Martian" is on his way to the big leagues and should immediately step into an everyday role in the Yankees outfield. Dominguez got off to a somewhat underwhelming start this season in the minors, but he flipped the script in early July and has now rocketed to the majors at age 20 after slashing .348/.419/.507 with five home runs and 21 steals across his last 50 games between Double-A Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Dominguez's power/speed combination gives him plenty of long-term fantasy upside, though he could be a batting-average drain initially in his first taste of the majors.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Moving up to Triple-A

The Yankees will promote Dominguez from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Brendan Kuty and Chris Kirschner of The Athletic report. After dropping their last eight games to fall four games under .500, the Yankees appear to have waved the white flag on contending for a playoff spot this season and will likely shift into evaluation mode over the final six weeks of the campaign. As such, the Yankees will promote two of their top prospects from Triple-A in Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza to the big leagues Tuesday, while Dominguez will get the bump up from Double-A to fill one of the open roster spots at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 20-year-old power-hitting outfielder has posted a .781 OPS in 109 games overall for Somerset this season, but he's been running especially hot since the All-Star break. Through his first 33 games of the second half, Dominguez slashed .354/.416/.549 while keeping his strikeout rate under 20 percent. He'll look to make a splash at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in September with the hope of contending for a spot on the Yankees' Opening Day roster in 2024.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Heating up at plate

Dominguez has reached base in seven straight games with Double-A Somerset, slashing .346/.485/.615 with two homers, eight RBI, a stolen base and a 7:5 BB:K over that stretch. After making a big splash with the Yankees in spring training, Dominguez struggled mightily over his first 19 contests with Somerset this season, batting just .125 with two homers. He appears to be getting on track, however, and has boosted his season average closer to the Mendoza Line at .195. Despite his overall struggles on the campaign, the 20-year-old has displayed elite patience at the plate with a 25.5 percent walk rate, leading to an outstanding .402 on-base percentage. He's also swiped 10 bags in 11 attempts so far.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Back to minors

Dominguez was reassigned to minor-league camp Thursday. Dominguez was invited to spring training despite not being on the 40-man roster. He made a tremendous impression in extended run, collecting 10 hits -- four of which were home runs -- across 22 at-bats. Dominguez will likely begin the season at Double-A Somerset but could progress levels quickly if he continues to hit well.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Impressing in camp

Dominguez is slashing .429/.500/.857 with two home runs, four RBI, six runs, a stolen base and a 2:1 BB:K through 16 Grapefruit League plate appearances. Dominguez is one month removed from his 20th birthday and has played only five games at the Double-A level, so the organization will almost certainly opt to give him more time to develop in the minors. Nonetheless, his showing this spring has to excite fantasy managers with stock in the youngster in dynasty leagues. Dominguez may never live up to the massive hype that surrounded him when he first became known in baseball circles, but he's already showing the tools to become a very good major-leaguer.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Gets invite to MLB camp

Dominguez received an invitation Tuesday to the major-league side of Yankees camp this spring. Dominguez won't actually be in the running for an Opening Day roster spot, but this invite gives him an opportunity to show out in front of the Yankees' big-league coaches and players. The highly touted 20-year-old outfield prospect slashed .273/.376/.461 with 16 home runs and 37 stolen bases in 120 games last season between Low-A Tampa, High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset. He carries loads of future fantasy appeal.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Post-hype breakout at High-A

Dominguez is hitting .323/.463/.532 with two home runs, 10 steals on 11 attempts and a 14:16 K:BB in 17 games this month for High-A Hudson Valley. The switch-hitting 19-year-old is starting to live up to the hype, and those in dynasty leagues who were patient with him should feel vindicated. On the season, Dominguez is hitting .270/.381/.449 at Low-A and High-A, with his production improving as the season has progressed.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Advances to High-A

Dominguez was promoted to High-A Hudson Valley on Saturday. The highly-touted 19-year-old is done with the Single-A level after slashing .264/.372/.438 in 76 games for Tampa. He homered nine times and added 19 steals. The only negative in his stat line is a 27.4 percent strikeout rate, a number which could cause problems if it continues to rise as he climbs his way towards the big leagues. Whether he winds up as a true all-around star or a toolsy but flawed player will depend in large part on whether or not he can keep his contact issues under control.
