  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Tallies ninth homer

Triolo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday against the Yankees. Triolo popped a two-run homer in the sixth inning to bring his total on the season to nine, three of which have come in September. His numbers for the campaign are subpar, though Triolo has managed to maintain a .263 batting average with a .701 OPS, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored across 22 starts in September.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: On bench Friday

Triolo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees. Triolo will yield to Connor Joe at first base Friday against Carlos Rodon and the Yankees. Since the start of September, Triolo is 20-for-76 (.263) with two homers, nine runs and eight RBI.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Collects three hits

Triolo went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday against the Brewers. Triolo has an ugly overall line this season, but since taking over a regular role at third base in the absence of Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) in mid-August, Triolo has hit .277 with seven extra-base hits across 112 at-bats. He also has four homers and three steals across 35 games in that span.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Resting Saturday

Triolo is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds. Triolo gets a well-deserved day off Saturday after starting 11 consecutive contests. In his place, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will play third base while Nick Yorke plays second base.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Slugs eighth homer

Triolo went 2-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Marlins. Triolo remains locked in as Pittsburgh's starting third baseman in the absence of Ke'Bryan Hayes (back). In 21 games since Hayes went down, Triolo has hit .261 with three home runs, 14 RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Provides insurance with homer

Triolo went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Cubs. Triolo's homer came in the seventh inning, giving the Pirates some extra breathing room. The infielder has gone 12-for-49 (.245) over his last 16 games, though he has hit three of his seven homers in that span. He's added a .206/.294/.305 slash line with 38 RBI, 33 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 367 plate appearances. With Ke'Bryan Hayes out indefinitely, Triolo has seen a majority of the playing time at third base over the last couple of weeks.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Getting afternoon off

Triolo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. After starting in each of the last eight games while going 4-for-23 with two home runs and six walks against five strikeouts, Triolo will hit the bench for the series finale. Alika Williams will replace Triolo in the starting nine, manning second base while batting eighth.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Set to regain regular playing time

Triolo went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk Monday against the Rangers. Triolo had been relegated to a bench role since the acquisition and return of Isiah Kiner-Falefa, though he looks poised to take over at third base so long as Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) and Nick Gonzales (groin) are sidelined. Triolo is hitting just .201 for the season with a. 094 ISO, but he does have a home run in two of his last three games.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Playing time likely to drop

Triolo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres. Triolo had started in each of the last three games and in eight of the past nine contests, but with Oneil Cruz (illness) making his return to the lineup following a two-game absence, Triolo looks poised to see his playing time take a hit now that the Pittsburgh infield is back to full strength minus Nick Gonzales (groin). Trade-deadline pickup Isiah Kiner-Falefa has inherited Gonzales' everyday role at second base.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: LIkely heading back to utility role

Triolo will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. Triolo will stay in the Pittsburgh lineup for the sixth time in seven games, but he'll likely occupy a utility role for the club moving forward after Isiah Kiner-Falefa (knee) returned from the injured list Saturday to make his Pirates debut. Kiner-Falefa is expected to serve as the Pirates' primary option at second base, where Triolo had previously made five consecutive starts before hitting the bench Saturday. Triolo will be back in the starting nine Sunday as the Pirates give regular third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes a breather.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Getting second straight start

Triolo will start at second base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Astros. Triolo will draw a second straight start at second base and could serve as the Pirates' primary option at the position in the wake of Nick Gonzales' (groin) placement on the injured list. With a .198/.272/.266 slash line to go with four home runs, four stolen bases, 25 RBI and 20 runs over 279 plate appearances this season, Triolo hasn't provided much to get excited about for fantasy purposes when given regular playing time.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Getting fourth straight start

Triolo will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Rockies. Triolo will pick up his fourth straight start, but two came while shortstop Oneil Cruz was sitting out due to a sore ankle. Cruz is back in the lineup Sunday, but Triolo will get the nod at third base in place of a resting Ke'Bryan Hayes. Expect Triolo to return to a utility role when the Pirates open their series against the Reds on Monday.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Moving into reserve role

Triolo is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers. Triolo had served as the Pirates' primary second baseman for most of the season before seeing most of his action at third base over the past three weeks while Ke'Bryan Hayes was on the injured list. Nick Gonzales took over at second base while Hayes was out, and after handily outperforming Triolo at the plate during that stretch, Gonzales appears to have taken over Triolo's everyday role after Hayes was reinstated from the IL on Tuesday. Even though he had started in all but five of the Pirates' first 54 games of the season, Triolo hadn't delivered much fantasy value with a .203 average, three home runs, four stolen bases, 18 RBI and 12 runs. Now that he's likely moving into a part-time role, Triolo may struggle to offer much utility even in NL-only leagues.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Out of lineup Thursday

Triolo isn't in the Pirates' lineup Thursday versus the Cubs. Triolo will begin the day on the bench amid his recent struggles. After going 0-for-3 on Wednesday, he has just two hits in his last 39 plate appearances. The third baseman has been starting in the absence of Ke'Bryan Hayes, but Nick Gonzales will slide over from second to third Thursday. Alika Williams joins the lineup at second and will bat ninth.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Out of lineup Monday

Triolo isn't included in the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers. Triolo's streak of seven consecutive starts will come to an end Monday with Alika Williams getting the nod at the keystone. The time off could prove beneficial for Triolo, who has gone 2-for-19 at the dish over his last six games.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Swipes second bag

Triolo went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Phillies. Triolo has settled into a near-everyday role at second base while hitting primarily seventh or eighth in the lineup. He has at least one hit in 11 of his 14 starts, with the result being a .268 average across 62 plate appearances. The rest of Triolo's line is fairly empty, however, as he's tallied only two extra-base hits -- including one home run -- and two stolen bases.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Gets Saturday off

Triolo isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies. Triolo will get a day to rest after going 3-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored through the first two games of the series. Alika Williams will instead get the nod at the keystone, batting ninth.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Batting leadoff Tuesday

Triolo will start at second base and bat leadoff Tuesday versus the Tigers, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. Triolo hadn't previously batted higher than sixth this season, but he's perched atop the batting order in this one against righty Casey Mize while Oneil Cruz gets a breather. The 26-year-old is hitting .275/.356/.375 in his first 10 games this season.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: On base four times

Triolo went 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Marlins. Triolo won the second base job out of spring training and has started all four of Pittsburgh's games to this point. He has two multi-hit efforts in that span while also drawing three walks. Triolo also notched his first stolen base of the campaign after swiping 16 total bags between Triple-A Indianapolis and the majors in 2023.

  • Pirates' Jared Triolo: Projected for utility role

Triolo is likely to get regular at-bats while playing multiple positions this season, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports. Triolo appeared in 54 games for the Pirates in 2023 and hit .298 across 209 plate appearances. There's significant reason to doubt that performance carries forward, as he posted a .440 BABIP to go along with a 30.1 percent strikeout rate. However, he's an above-average defender at first base, second base and third base, giving him multiple paths to playing time even if he doesn't start regularly at a single position.
