O'Hoppe went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Athletics. O'Hoppe had one of just three hits for the Angels in the game, giving them a short-lived 3-1 lead in the seventh inning. The catcher is up to 14 homers this season, four of which have come over his last 10 games as he finishes the year in good form. He's slashing .238/.284/.503 with 29 RBI, 22 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 50 contests this season.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Homers for team's lone run
O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Rangers. O'Hoppe put the Angels on the board early with his second-inning solo shot, but that was the only run Los Angeles managed in the loss. The backstop continues to show good power, swatting seven homers over his past 15 games. He's added 12 RBI and nine runs over that stretch, though he's also posted a poor 1:20 BB:K.... See More ... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Sitting Saturday
O'Hoppe isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Twins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. After belting a two-run homer during Friday's loss, O'Hoppe will get a day to rest while Chad Wallach starts behind the plate and bats eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Stays locked in Monday
O'Hoppe went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three RBI in Monday's 8-5 extra-innings win over the Mariners. O'Hoppe hit a two-run blast in the second inning and a solo shot in the fourth to erase an early three-run deficit. The catcher has four homers and three multi-hit efforts across his last four contests. For the season, the 23-year-old rookie is up to 10 long balls, 22 RBI, 13 runs scored, five doubles and a .242/.296/.524 slash line through 35 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Pops homer in loss
O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians. O'Hoppe has homered three times over 16 games since he returned from a shoulder injury. The catcher's sixth-inning blast got the Angels within a run Friday, but they couldn't pull even. He's up to seven long balls with a poor .223/.285/.446 slash line, 17 RBI and 10 runs scored across 123 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Sitting out Thursday
O'Hoppe is not in the lineup Thursday against the Guardians, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. O'Hoppe had started each of the last three games, during which he went 2-for-11 with a double. He'll get a routine day off, with Chad Wallach stepping into the lineup to hit seventh while serving as the backstop.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Gets rest day
O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. O'Hoppe will get a breather in the series finale after he went 3-for-20 with a home run and a double while starting at catcher in each of the Halos' last five games. Chad Wallach will fill in for O'Hoppe behind the dish, forming a battery with starting pitcher Tyler Anderson.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Clubs late homer
O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Athletics. O'Hoppe went yard in the ninth inning for his sixth homer of the year, though it had no bearing on the outcome. The catcher was the only Angel with multiple hits in this game. O'Hoppe is batting just .150 (6-for-40) since he returned Aug. 18 from a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. The top prospect is at a .226/.284/.452 slash line over 102 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Sitting out nightcap
O'Hoppe isn't in the Angels' lineup for the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader against Cincinnati, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. After a 1-for-5 effort in the first half of the twin bill, O'Hoppe will get a breather to close out Wednesday's action. Matt Thaiss will take over behind the dish and bat eighth.... See More ... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Possible waiver wire pickups
O'Hoppe has gone 0 for 9 in two games since returning from a four-month absence for a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder, bringing his season stat line down to size, but you should know he was batting .283 with an .886 OPS before then. That's because he was one of the only rookies to give us anything worthwhile in April, and seeing as it was at a weak position, his roster rate might not have dipped far below its 76 percent peak if we had any inkling he was returning. At the time, the injury was presumed to be a season-ender, but now that we know it's not, he has a chance to pick up where he left off. Again, the injury was to his non-throwing shoulder, meaning the one that doesn't supply his power. Meanwhile, he hit .375 (9 for 24) with three doubles on his rehab assignment.... See More ... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Resting during afternoon game
O'Hoppe will be on the bench for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against Tampa Bay, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. O'Hoppe returned Friday from a shoulder injury which at one point seemed likely to keep him out for the entire season. The Angels are no doubt thrilled to have the young catcher back in action, but he was never going to be asked to start two games in one day even if he hadn't just returned from injury. Matt Thaiss starts behind the plate in the matinee, but O'Hoppe will likely return to the lineup for the nightcap.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Hitless in return
O'Hoppe went 0-for-5 in a loss to the Rays on Friday. O'Hoppe made a quicker-than-expected return to the majors Friday following a stay on the 60-day injured list due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The 23-year-old showed some rust with the hitless performance, though that shouldn't prevent him from working as the Angels' primary catcher moving forward. The team designated Chad Wallach for assignment upon O'Hoppe's return, and backup backstop Matt Thaiss has struggled thus far in August, going 4-for-31 at the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Batting fifth in return
The Angels activated O'Hoppe (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Friday. O'Hoppe will start at catcher and bat fifth against the Rays following a four-month absence to heal a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. The young backstop had posted an .886 OPS with four homers and 13 RBI in 16 games (53 plate appearances) prior to the April 20 injury, and he slashed .375/.464/.500 across 28 plate appearances on his recent eight-game minor-league rehab assignment.... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Collects two hits in rehab game
O'Hoppe (shoulder) went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a walk in a rehab appearance with Single-A Inland Empire on Wednesday. O'Hoppe kicked off his rehab stint with Inland Empire on Tuesday and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. He looked less rusty Wednesday, reaching base in three of five plate appearances. O'Hoppe was behind the plate Tuesday before batting second as the 66ers' DH on Wednesday. He's expected to need 2-to-3 weeks before he's ready to return to the major-league club.... See More ... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Beginning rehab stint Tuesday
O'Hoppe (shoulder) said Monday that he's starting a rehab assignment with Single-A Inland Empire on Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Angels manager Phil Nevin stated last Wednesday that O'Hoppe was on track to start his rehab stint the following week, and that has come to fruition with the catcher joining the Single-A club Tuesday. O'Hoppe hasn't seen any game action since suffering a torn labrum in a game April 20, and he's expected to need most or all of the 20-day rehab window before he's ready to return to the big club.... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Nearing rehab assignment
Angels manager Phil Nevin said Wednesday that O'Hoppe (shoulder) is on track to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. O'Hoppe advanced to taking live batting practice this past weekend as he continues to make a swift recovery from April surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. He'll likely stay on the rehab assignment for close to the maximum 20 days to get fully back into form offensively and defensively, but the promising young catcher could be a contributor again for the playoff-hunting Angels by the end of August.... Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Set for live BP
O'Hoppe (shoulder) is scheduled to take live batting practice Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. O'Hoppe has also been doing some catching with a pitching machine as he works his way back from April surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It's looking like the 23-year-old catcher might be able to return to the Angels sometime in late August. He had posted an .886 OPS with four homers and 13 RBI in 16 games prior to the early-season injury.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Takes dry swings
O'Hoppe (shoulder) took 25 dry swings Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. It's the first time he's swung a bat since he underwent surgery in late April to repair a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. O'Hoppe said afterward that it felt "really good. I didn't feel I needed to baby anything... Taking the training wheels off today." There's a chance he could return before the end of the season, with late August being a best-case scenario. O'Hoppe has plenty of hoops to jump through, though, and where the Angels are in the playoff hunt at the time could also factor into their plans for the young catcher.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Hopes to return in 2023
O'Hoppe (shoulder) underwent surgery Tuesday and said he hopes to be able to return on the early end of his 4-to-6-month timeframe, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. O'Hoppe was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his left shoulder last week. The rookie catcher was off to a strong start before the injury, slashing .283/.339/.547 with four homers and 13 RBI over 59 plate appearances. O'Hoppe has a chance to return late this season, but he's a tough hold in redraft leagues given his lengthy recovery period.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Undergoing surgery Tuesday
O'Hoppe (shoulder) is set to undergo surgery on his torn labrum Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. O'Hoppe is expected to miss 4-to-6 months after being diagnosed with the tear over the weekend. The 23-year-old could return to the Angels before the end of the season, but is just as likely -- if not more so -- to not return to the Angels in 2024.... See More ... See Less
