  • Athletics' CJ Alexander: Recalled from Triple-A

The Athletics recalled Alexander from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

  • Athletics' Jacob Lopez: Recalled from Las Vegas

The Athletics recalled Lopez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Lopez is expected to start Friday against the Phillies, as J.T. Ginn (quadriceps) recently landed on the 15-day injured list. Lopez made a spot start against the Rangers back on April 29, allowing three earned runs on six hits and four walks across 2.2 innings of work. He struck out four and took the loss. Lopez could make multiple starts for the Athletics while Ginn is sidelined.

The Athletics selected MacIver from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The Athletics are swapping out Jhonny Pereda for MacIver as the backup catcher. MacIver has hit the ball well at Triple-A this season, slashing .389/.469/.548 with two home runs, 30 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases across 147 plate appearances. The 28-year-old MacIver could make his MLB debut sometime this weekend against the Phillies.

The Athletics selected Davidson's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Davidson is in line to make his MLB debut against the Phillies at some point this weekend. With Gio Urshela (hamstring) placed on the 10-day injured list, Davidson could be a candidate to make starts at third base for the Athletics. The 27-year-old Davidson slashed .310/.456/.437 with two home runs, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 182 plate appearances at Triple-A.

  • Athletics' Zack Gelof: Moved to 60-day IL

The Athletics transferred Gelof (wrist/ribs) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Gelof will vacate his spot on the 40-man roster in a purely transactional move, as the second baseman has been sidelined since March 26. Gelof had been recovering from surgery on his right wrist but got pulled from his rehab assignment May 5 after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his ribs. The 25-year-old remains without a timetable for return.

  • Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Officially promoted to majors

The Athletics recalled Clarke from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

One of the organization's top prospects, the runway has been cleared for Clarke to take over centerfield duties for the Athletics after JJ Bleday was sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Clarke has slashed .286/.436/.419 with zero home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a 17.3 percent walk rate across 133 plate appearances at Triple-A this season.

Brown was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The Athletics are shaking up their outfield mix Friday. In addition to DFA'ing Brown, the Athletics optioned JJ Bleday to Triple-A Las Vegas and recalled Denzel Clarke. Freshly up from Triple-A, Denzel Clarke looks like the next man up in center for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Logan Davidson: Set for promotion

The Athletics are expected to promote Davidson from Triple-A Las Vegas, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Davidson will need to be added to the 40-man roster ahead of his MLB debut. The 27-year-old has played all four infield spots as well as left field over 40 games at Triple-A this season while slashing .310/.456/.437 with two home runs, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 182 plate appearances. He could be an option at second base or third base for the Athletics after Gio Urshela injured his hamstring Thursday.

  • Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Set for promotion

The Athletics are expected to call up Clarke from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Clarke is among the organization's top prospects, and his status has risen quickly within the last year after he made a mechanical adjustment at the plate. While he's played in a hitter-friendly environment in Las Vegas this season, Clarke has struck out at a modest 22 percent clip while walking in 18 percent of his plate appearances and providing a .300/.449/.440 slash line with seven stolen bases. His power may not immediately translate to the majors, but he has elite speed and is an above-average defender in center field. His arrival to the big leagues could result in the struggling JJ Bleday moving into a fourth-outfielder role.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homer, three hits Thursday

Rooker went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Thursday's 10-5 loss to the Angels.

Rooker opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run, 440-foot blast off Tyler Anderson, his 11th homer of the year. It's the first long ball in 10 games for Rooker, who'd gone just 6-for-38 (.158) in that span. He's now slashing .245/.313/.456 with 25 RBI, 31 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases across 224 plate appearances this year.

  • Athletics' Gio Urshela: Destined for IL

Urshela strained his left hamstring Thursday and will be placed on the injured list, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Urshela suffered the injury Thursday against the Angels, and the team wasted little time in making a determination about his status. The severity of the injury remains unclear, though Urshela's absence isn't likely to affect the A's lineup much on a daily basis as he already lost his regular role at third base.

  • Athletics' Luis Severino: Pitches well in another no-decision

Severino did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Angels. He allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five across six innings.

It's the second straight quality start for Severino, though the right-hander still doesn't have a win since April 19, as the A's bullpen would cough up eight runs after Severino departed. Overall, the 31-year-old is 1-4 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 50:20 K:BB through 11 starts (65.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Astros on the road in his next outing.

  • Athletics' Gio Urshela: Exits with trainer

Urshela was removed from Thursday's game against the Angels due to a left hamstring injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The severity of Urshela's injury remains unknown, but the A's should provide more details relatively soon. The 33-year-old lost his grip on the starting third base job earlier this month and is slashing just .224/.276/.337 across 107 plate appearances in 2025.

  • Athletics' Jacob Lopez: Likely starting Saturday

Lopez is likely to be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to start Saturday's game against the Phillies in Sacramento, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

While he has not yet been officially recalled, Lopez already has a locker in the Athletics clubhouse. The left-hander will be sliding into the rotation in place of the injured J.T. Ginn (quadricep). Lopez has made one start and three relief appearances at the big-league level this season, collecting a 3.86 ERA and 9:7 K:BB over seven innings. He could earn additional starts while Ginn recuperates.
