Rose had 17 points (8-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 22 minutes during Friday's 110-89 loss to Phoenix. Rose was nearly perfect from the field, and while he's not expected to jump into a starting role any time soon, he showed he can remain a productive player when given enough chances. Ultimately, though, Rose's limited role means he can't be trusted in fantasy unless he starts logging more minutes on a regular basis.... See More ... See Less

Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Good to go against Houston
Rose (rest) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets. Rose will return to action Wednesday after missing the second leg of a back-to-back set Sunday against the Celtics due to left knee injury maintenance. The veteran guard put an end to a seven-game absence Saturday, when he played 14 minutes in a 120-108 win over the Spurs. Even if he continues to play off of the Grizzlies' second unit, Rose could still be in store for an uptick in minutes moving forward while Ja Morant (suspension) remains out and while six other players are out indefinitely with injuries.... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Won't play Sunday
Rose won't play Sunday against the Celtics due to left knee injury maintenance. Rose returned to action Saturday following a seven-game absence due to a knee injury and posted nine points (3-4 FG), one rebound and one assist in 14 minutes during a 120-108 win over San Antonio. However, the veteran will take a seat for the second half of Memphis' weekend back-to-back set. Memphis is banged up at the moment, so Jacob Gilyard, John Konchar and Ziaire Williams are all candidates for increased roles.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Available to face Spurs
Rose (knee) is available to face the Spurs on Saturday. The veteran floor general is clearly not the player he once was, but he can add depth to a backcourt that's missing Ja Morant (suspension) and Marcus Smart (foot). It's unclear whether Rose will start or not, but if he doesn't, he should see minutes off the bench -- though not enough to be a valuable streaming option on DFS slates.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Iffy against San Antonio
Rose (knee) is questionable for Saturday's game versus the Spurs. Rose hasn't played since Oct. 30 due to left knee soreness but could return to action Saturday. If the veteran guard is able to suit up, he and Jacob Gilyard will likely split point guard duties with Ja Morant (suspension), Marcus Smart (foot) and Luke Kennard (knee) all out.... See More ... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Nearing return
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Thursday that Rose (knee) should return "very soon," Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Rose has missed Memphis' last seven games due to left knee soreness but could suit up soon. His next chance to return will be Saturday's matchup with San Antonio.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Set for multi-week absence
Memphis announced Tuesday that Rose is week-to-week while dealing with knee soreness, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Rose has missed the Grizzlies' last three games and is officially out for Wednesday's game against Miami. Jacob Gilyard has been called upon as Marcus Smart's backup, while Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard have taken on more pressure.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Out with knee soreness
Rose will not play in Wednesday's game against the Jazz due to left knee soreness. The Grizzlies have had some tough luck in the injury department to start the season. With Rose sidelined, the Grizzlies may need players like Luke Kennard and John Konchar to step up for the second unit. Rose's next chance to play will be Friday against Portland.... See More ... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Cleared for debut
Rose (rest) is off the injury report for Wednesday's season opener against the Pelicans. Rose and Luke Kennard are the only traditional guards off Memphis' bench, and both could be busy while Ja Morant serves his 25-game suspension. The 35-year-old Rose's usage will likely be capped to keep him fresh, but he profiles as little more than a veteran presence for the Grizzlies.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Sitting out Friday
Rose (rest) will not play in Friday's preseason game against the Bucks, Damichael Cole of Memphis News reports. This is just a maintenance day for the veteran as the preseason comes to a close. With Ja Morant suspended for 25 games, Rose is likely to be the backup point guard to open the season.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Draws start Sunday
Rose (rest) will start Sunday's preseason game against the Heat. Rose took a seat for Thursday's exhibition but will return to action Sunday and presumably play around 20-25 minutes. With Ja Morant suspended and Marcus Smart (abdomen) injured, the veteran Rose could have a sizable role to begin 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Getting night off
Rose will rest during Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks, Damichael Cole of Memphis News reports. There's no injury to report with several Grizzlies getting a maintenance day. Rose will be relied on early and often this season with Ja Morant serving a 25-game suspension.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Efficient in OT win
Rose logged 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and two assists in 14 minutes during Sunday's 127-122 preseason overtime win over the Pacers. Rose signed with the Grizzlies during the offseason after spending the last two-plus years with the Knicks, and he took on a starting role in Sunday's preseason opener with Marcus Smart (abdomen) sidelined. Rose was efficient from the floor and should have an opportunity to see relatively consistent minutes early in the season while Ja Morant (suspension) is unavailable. However, Smart's abdominal issue doesn't seem to be a significant concern, so Rose will likely have to settle for a bench role when Smart returns.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Headed to Memphis
Rose agreed to a deal with the Grizzlies on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Grizzlies were in need of some point guard depth with Ja Morant suspended to open the season and Tyus Jones now in Washington. The veteran will likely back up Marcus Smart unless the Grizzlies bring in another guard, though it remains to be seen just how much Rose has left in the tank. With the Knicks last season, Rose shot 38.4 percent from the field across only 27 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Derrick Rose: Set to hit free agency
The Knicks declined Rose's $15.6 million team option Saturday and he will be an unrestricted free agent, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports. While this doesn't exclude Rose from returning to New York on a cheaper deal, it was always unlikely the Knicks would pick up his team option. The veteran point guard played just 27 games in 2022-23 and averaged 5.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes. Rose hasn't played more than 51 games since 2016-17 and is in the twilight of his career, so he will likely settle for closer to a veteran minimum if he is signed this offseason.... See More ... Knicks' Derrick Rose: Gets garbage-time run Friday
Rose played three minutes in Friday's 99-79 win over the Cavaliers in Game 3 of the first-round series, finishing with zero points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist. Rose missed four straight games late in the regular season due to an illness, but he was cleared for the final three contests. He didn't see the floor in any of those contests, nor any of the first two games of the postseason before getting the opportunity to play the final 2:30 of Friday's blowout win. The veteran guard firmly remains outside of head coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation and is unlikely to see any playing time outside of a garbage-time scenarios for the duration of the Knicks' playoff run.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Derrick Rose: Not listed on injury report
Rose (illness) isn't listed on the Knicks' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Pacers. Rose appears to have cleared his recent aliment and will suit up Wednesday. However, even when healthy, he hasn't been a regular member of the Knicks' rotation this season.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Derrick Rose: Out Sunday
Rose (illness) won't play Sunday against the Wizards. Rose typically doesn't factor into New York's rotation, so his absence from the active roster won't impact fantasy hoops. His next chance to play will come Wednesday in Indiana.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Derrick Rose: Questionable vs. Wizards
Rose (illness) is questionable for Sunday's contest against the Wizards. Rose has been dealing with an illness lately, but even if he's cleared, he's not expected to play. The veteran has been out of the rotation since January.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Derrick Rose: Won't suit up Friday
Rose (illness) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Cavaliers. Rose will miss a third straight game due to an illness. However, he's not a part of the Knicks' usual point guard rotation, so his absence shouldn't impact fantasy hoops.... See More ... See Less
