  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Inflicts damage in garbage time

McDaniels ended Friday's 145-113 loss to the Jazz with 15 points (4-5 FG, 7-10 FT), three rebounds and one steal across seven minutes. McDaniels entered the game midway through the fourth quarter and drained 15 points in just seven minutes on the floor. Although the game's outcome was sealed, McDaniels' slashing aggression resulted in 10 free-throw attempts, a shocking total when you consider his overall court time. With new playmakers like RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley in the headlines, it's easy to discount McDaniels, but explosive totals like this could help his chances to make a bigger impact down the line.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Scores season-high 13 points

McDaniels registered 13 points (5-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and one steal in 15 minutes during Friday's 120-118 loss to Boston. McDaniels scored double-digit points for the first time this season, playing at least 15 minutes for the second straight game. It's been a disappointing season for McDaniels, as he's struggled to carve out a meaningful role in Toronto. Despite the recent uptick in playing time, there is no reason to consider him a viable fantasy asset.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Sees 13 minutes Tuesday

McDaniels closed Tuesday's 115-103 loss to Brooklyn with five points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 13 minutes. McDaniels recently fell out of the rotation in Toronto, and this was his first time reaching double-digit minutes since Nov. 15. With the starters in Toronto playing such heavy workloads, it will be hard for McDaniels to make anything more than a limited fantasy impact.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Minimal production in OT win

McDaniels produced zero points (0-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound over five minutes during Sunday's 123-116 overtime victory over the Spurs. McDaniels averaged a career-high 23.9 minutes per game over 80 appearances between the Hornets and 76ers last year, but he's been limited early in the 2023-24 campaign after signing a two-year deal with Toronto during the offseason. He's played single-digit minutes in each of his last four appearances and has also been held scoreless in five of his six outings this year. Unless the Raptors deal with multiple injuries at some point, it seems unlikely that McDaniels will have much fantasy value.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Plays 17 minutes in win

McDaniels logged nine minutes (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal in 17 minutes during Sunday's 134-93 preseason win over Cairns. McDaniels was slightly more efficient during the Raptors' preseason opener, but he still managed to put together a solid stat line during Sunday's exhibition matchup. After joining the Raptors on a two-year, $9.3 million contract during the offseason, he should have an opportunity to carve out a consistent bench role this year.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Signs with Raptors

McDaniels signed a two-year, $9.3 million deal with the Raptors on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. McDaniels spent the 2022-23 season with the Hornets and 76ers, mostly playing off the bench with both teams and logging a combined 80 appearances, though he also posted 24 starts. The four-year veteran averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and should be a solid bench piece with Toronto.

McDaniels dealt with an illness ahead of Thursday's matchup, but he'll suit up as the 76ers attempt to take a 3-0 lead in the series. • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Likely to play Thursday

McDaniels (illness) "should be available" for Thursday's game versus the Nets after participating in shootaround, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. McDaniels is officially listed as questionable with a stomach issue but reportedly feels fine ahead of Thursday's game. He is averaging 2.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 19.5 minutes across the series' first two contests.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Iffy Thursday

McDaniels is questionable for Game 3 against the Nets on Thursday due to a non-COVID illness. McDaniels has played 17 and 22 minutes, respectively, during the first two contests of the series. If he is unable to suit up Thursday, Danuel House, Furkan Korkmaz and Georges Niang would be candidates to receive increased minutes.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Retreats to bench for Game 1

McDaniels will not start Saturday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round. As expected, the Sixers' regular starters will retake their spots in the starting unit. McDaniels will reclaim his bench role as a result and will see his minutes decrease. He should still see some work off the bench, but the starters will likely be leaned on more in the postseason.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Starting in Atlanta

McDaniels is set to start at small forward in Friday's game against the Hawks, Kyle Neubeck of reports. McDaniels is getting a rare start, as Philadelphia is choosing to rest all their regular starters. As a result, the small forward figures to see an expanded role.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Logs 25 minutes in loss

McDaniels closed Thursday's 129-101 loss to the Heat with 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one assist and four steals in 25 minutes. McDaniels eclipsed 20 minutes for just the fifth time since being traded, tallying four steals to go with 10 points. While he has been a relatively consistent part of the rotation, his playing time could increase in the short term if the team opts to give their stars some rest in the lead-up to the postseason.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Offers lift off bench

McDaniels finished Monday's 116-111 loss to the Nuggets with 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 22 minutes off the bench. After recently missing two straight games with a hip injury, McDaniels returned to action in Saturday's 125-105 loss to the Suns, playing 14 minutes off the bench. With Philadelphia choosing to hold out James Harden (Achilles) and Joel Embiid (calf) on Monday, McDaniels picked up extra playing time and was able to provide the Sixers with quality support on the offensive end behind leading scorer Tyrese Maxey (29 points). McDaniels is averaging a modest 15.8 minutes per game in 17 appearances since coming over from the Hornets at the trade deadline, so it's tough to envision him maintaining any sort of fantasy relevance outside of deep leagues once the 76ers are back at full strength, possibly as soon as Wednesday's game versus the Mavericks.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Out Wednesday

McDaniels (hip) is out for Wednesday's action at Chicago. A bothersome hip injury will keep McDaniels out for the third time in five games. In his absence, more minutes should be available for Georges Niang and Danuel House.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Questionable Wednesday

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Good to go Saturday

McDaniels (hip) will be available for Saturday's clash with the Pacers. McDaniels was listed as questionable on the initial injury report for Saturday after sitting out Friday, but it appears he's set for a return after partial participation in the team's shootaround Friday. McDaniels figures to slot back into his consistent bench role and could see extra minutes Saturday with P.J. Tucker (ankle) and James Harden (hip) sitting out.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Iffy for Saturday

McDaniels (hip) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Pacers, Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. McDaniels is at risk of missing a third straight tilt with a bruised right hip after being tabbed questionable for Saturday's closing leg of a back-to-back. Although he was unable to suit up for Friday's matchup, he managed to take part in portions of shootaround prior to the game. If he stays sidelined, Danuel House and Georges Niang could pick up a few extra minutes.
