Ntilikina averaged 3.0 points, 2.8 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 16.4 minutes across his four appearances this preseason. While Ntilikina isn't expected to receive a significant role for Charlotte during the coming campaign regardless, he will miss the beginning of the regular season.

Ntilikina suffered a hamstring injury during a World Cup Exhibition for France in August, but he completed a full recovery. The 25-year-old is competing for Charlotte's backup point guard spot. Given Ntilikina's reputation as a defensive-minded guard and Charlotte's deployment of similarly-tailored Dennis Smith in that role last season, Ntilikina might be the frontrunner.

Hornets' Frank Ntilikina: Injured during World Cup exhibition
Ntilikina suffered an undisclosed injury while playing for France during a World Cup friendly against Lithuania on Friday and won't be able to compete in the World Cup at the end of August, Eurohoops.net reports.
Ntilikina will now shift his focus on getting healthy for Charlotte's training camp, which starts in early October. The 2017 lottery pick has struggled to carve out a role in the NBA, spending four years with the Knicks and two years in Dallas before agreeing to a one-year deal with the Hornets this summer. Ntilikina is on the outskirts of Charlotte's crowded backcourt depth chart and will likely be battling for a roster spot during training camp and preseason action.

The Hornets signed Ntilikina to a one-year contract Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Ntilikina will join the Hornets after spending the last two seasons with the Mavericks. The 25-year-old guard averaged 2.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 12.9 minutes across 47 appearances in 2022-23. Ntilikina will likely compete for a depth role in Charlotte's backcourt.
