  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Drops team-high 29 in win

Mitchell provided 29 points (10-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 131-122 victory over the Pelicans. The 28-year-old guard led Cleveland in scoring on the night, as he topped 20 points for the sixth time in the last seven games. Mitchell is shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 43.1 percent from three-point range over that stretch while averaging 24.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.6 threes, 3.3 boards and 1.4 steals, leading the charge for the undefeated Cavs.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Shooting woes in victory

Mitchell logged 14 points (5-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Monday's 116-114 win over the Bucks. The superstar struggled from the field while taking a backseat to Darius Garland, who scored a game-high 39 points. Mitchell produced his season low in points, though he racked up two or more steals for the fourth time this season. The Cavaliers remain undefeated after eight regular-season games, during which the 28-year-old has averaged 23.1 points, 4.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 29.9 minutes per game. Mitchell has also shot an efficient 40.3 percent from deep and 48.3 percent from the field.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Nails go-ahaad jumper for win

Mitchell ended Saturday's 114-113 victory over the Bucks with 30 points (11-25 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and four assists across 35 minutes. The Cavs leaped to 7-0 following Mitchell's team-leading performance. Coach Kenny Atkinson is letting Mitchell take every shot possible, and it's resulting in massive dividends. The veteran guard is one of the hottest players in the league right now, and he posted 30 points Saturday night despite some inaccuracy with his mid-range shot.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Pair of threes in 20-point outing

Mitchell registered 22 points (9-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist across 22 minutes during Friday's 120-109 victory over the Magic. Mitchell provided a boost to the Cavaliers offense despite somewhat of limited time on the floor in just over 20 minutes, ending second on the team in scoring while connecting on a pair of shots from deep. Mitchell has led Cleveland once again in the early part of the 2024-25 season, surpassing the 20-point mark in five of his six outings including in four straight contests.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Drops 30 points in blowout win

Mitchell registered 30 points (11-18 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, five assists and four steals across 29 minutes during Saturday's 135-116 win over the Wizards. After starting the season 3-for-13 from deep, Mitchell found his three-point stroke Saturday. He also dished out five assists for a second straight contest and recorded a game-high four steals. Mitchell is the go-to player on a contending team, making him an elite fantasy option moving forward.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Scores 21 points in win Wednesday

Mitchell supplied 21 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 136-106 victory over Toronto. Mitchell finished as the Cavaliers' second-highest scorer in this blowout win behind Evan Mobley, who posted 25 points across 27 minutes. Mitchell still delivered an excellent fantasy stat line since he found a way to contribute multiple tallies in four of the five major categories. Mobley might lead the Cavaliers in scoring from time to time, as he figures to have a bigger role on offense in 2024-25, but Mitchell should remain as the team's go-to player. If he stays healthy, he should be one of the guards with the highest fantasy floors in The Association.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Scores 22 in preseason finale

Mitchell posted 22 points (8-21 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Friday's 139-137 preseason loss to the Bulls. Mitchell didn't have the most efficient performance Friday, but the star guard looks ready for the regular season. The Cavaliers are keeping the same core together and Mitchell signed a three-year, $150.3 million extension in the offseason, so he should be motivated to best his 2023-24 numbers. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game across 55 regular-season appearances last season.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: In starting lineup

Mitchell (rest) is part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game against the Pistons. • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Sitting out Thursday

Mitchell won't play in Thursday's preseason game versus the Pacers, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports. Mitchell hasn't suffered any injury, but the Cavaliers are opting to rest all of their starters for Thursday's contest. The star guard should be good to go for Wednesday's preseason matchup with Detroit.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Participating in camp

Mitchell (calf) participated during Tuesday's practice at training camp. Mitchell missed the final two games of the Cavaliers' Eastern Conference semifinal round loss to the Celtics with a left calf strain, but it's no surprise to see him at full strength to open camp. Mitchell won't have any distractions this season after recently agreeing to a three-year, $150.3 million extension. During the 2023-24 regular season, Mitchell compiled averages of 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 3.3 three-pointers.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Agrees to three-year extension

Mitchell (calf) and the Cavaliers agreed to a three-year, $150.3 million extension Tuesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The extension includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. Mitchell's future with the Cavaliers has been a major storyline in the media for over a year, so Cleveland will be relieved to secure Mitchell's signature as they move into a new era with coach Kenny Atkinson at the helm. During the regular season in 2023-24, Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 3.3 three-pointers.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Extension expected this offseason

The Cavaliers are confident in reaching an extension with Mitchell (calf) this offseason and will soon present the five-star All-Star guard with a four-year, $209 million maximum contract offer, Shams Charania, Joe Vardon and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic report. Mitchell's current contract runs through the 2025-26 season, but because he holds a $37.1 million player option for that season that he would almost certainly decline, the Cavaliers are eager to strike a long-term deal with him rather than risk losing him in free agency next summer. On a related note, the Cavaliers are eager to hire an offensive-minded head coach who values ball movement to get the most out of Mitchell, with the report noting that the organization has narrowed down its search to Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson and Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego, both of whom have previous head-coaching experience with the Nets and Hornets, respectively. Mitchell missed the final two games of the Cavaliers' Eastern Conference semifinal round loss to the Celtics with a left calf strain, but he's expected to be fully healthy well in advance of training camp in the fall.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Ruled out for Game 5

Mitchell (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 in Boston, Spencer Davies of SI.com reports. Mitchell will be joined on the sidelines by Caris LeVert (knee) and Jarrett Allen (ribs), leaving Cleveland quite thin going into a potential elimination game. Expect big minutes for Max Strus, Dean Wade and Sam Merrill, with Darius Garland and Evan Mobley doing the heavy lifting on offense.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Unlikely to play Wednesday

Mitchell (calf) is officially listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics, but he's not expected to play, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Mitchell has been spectacular in the playoffs and averaged 35.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 41.0 minutes over his last six appearances. However, he picked up a left calf strain during Game 3 and was sidelined for Cleveland's Game 4 loss. If Mitchell is unavailable again, Caris LeVert (knee) would likely start next to Darius Garland in the backcourt, while Sam Merrill may see an increased role off the bench.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Iffy for Game 5

Mitchell (calf) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics. Mitchell is in danger of missing his second straight contest due to a left calf strain he suffered in Game 3. Caris LeVert started in Mitchell's absence Monday and played well but aggravated a lingering knee injury and is also questionable for Game 5.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Won't play Monday

Mitchell (calf) has been ruled out for Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Mitchell had been stellar over his last six postseason appearances, averaging 35.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 35.3 minutes. However, he suffered a strained left calf during Game 3 and will be sidelined for a critical matchup in Cleveland. With Mitchell out, Caris LeVert may slide into the starting lineup at shooting guard, while Isaac Okoro, Sam Merrill and Marcus Morris are also candidates for increased offensive roles.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Not present at shootaround

Mitchell (calf) wasn't present for morning shootaround and remains questionable for Monday's Game 4 matchup with the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals round, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports. Mitchell is tending to a strained left calf, but it would be a major surprise if he wasn't cleared to play in advance of Monday's 7 p.m. ET tipoff. He didn't seem to be limited by the injury in the Cavaliers' 106-103 loss to the Celtics in Game 3 on Saturday, producing 33 points (12-22 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 43 minutes.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Iffy for Game 4

Mitchell is questionable for Monday's Game 4 against Boston with a strained left calf, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Mitchell seemingly picked up the injury during Cleveland's Game 3 loss, when he generated 33 points in 43 minutes of action. With Jarrett Allen (rib) also questionable, the Cavaliers could find themselves rather shorthanded for Monday's tilt. If Mitchell can't go, Caris LeVert would likely enter the first unit, while Isaac Okoro and Sam Merrill could see more minutes off the bench.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Leads offensively in Game 2 victory

Mitchell tallied 29 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight assists and seven rebounds over 40 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Mitchell led Cleveland offensively in a bounce-back performance in Game 2 to even the series with Boston, leading all players in the contest in scoring, threes made and assists while ending one point shy of the 30-point mark in the road game. Mitchell has done it all for the Cavaliers through two games against the Celtics, averaging 31 points so far in the conference semifinals. Mitchell posted his first game of the postseason with at least seven rebounds and seven assists, also setting his playoff high in threes made in the victory.

  • Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Puts up 33 points in Game 1 loss

Mitchell produced 33 points (12-25 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Mitchell carried the momentum he had from his epic Game 7 performance against the Magic on Sunday and surpassed the 30-point mark for the third straight game. However, the rest of his teammates didn't step up, and the Cavaliers suffered a devastating 25-point loss in the series opener. Mitchell should continue to post excellent numbers as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense -- by a wide margin -- but there's a chance his mighty performances might not translate into wins as happened against the Magic in the previous round.
