Pickett ended with two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist in seven minutes during Monday's 105-102 loss to the Clippers in Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
The Nuggets used a nine-man rotation in Game 2, but Pickett's role has been extremely minor -- he's seen a total of 12 minutes through two games. Denver seems content to roll with Russell Westbrook as the primary guard off the bench.

It was a standout showing by Pickett, who turned in his first career triple-double while also setting new career highs in points, boards and dimes. Although the Nuggets held their entire starting lineup out of action Wednesday, Pickett showed what he's capable of when given the opportunity for an expanded role. The 2023 second-rounder hasn't been a routine member of the rotation when Denver is at full strength, therefore Pickett could be hard-pressed to find this level of usage on a consistent basis.

Jamal Murray was ejected from this game after 29 minutes, but it was a blowout anyway. Pickett ended up posting career-high marks in points (14) and assists (9), but he still has a lot to prove before he can be viewed as a viable fantasy option in most leagues. Over his last six games, he averaged 5.3 points, 3.2 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals on 39.4 percent shooting from the field.

Pickett played at least 15 minutes for just the fifth time this season, sliding up in the rotation following a hamstring injury to Russell Westbrook. Although Pickett could feature on a nightly basis should Westbrook miss additional time, there is no reason to think he will play more than 15 minutes, limiting his overall upside.

Pickett dealt with left groin soreness during the Summer League which held him out of the squad's final matchup. However, the 24-year-old is back in game action for the preseason and will likely compete for a spot at the end of the rotation during the regular season. Pickett averaged 1.6 points across 4.5 minutes per game in 27 regular-season appearances during his rookie season last year.
