Porter (personal), along with two second-round picks, was traded to Oklahoma City on Tuesday in exchange for Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Victor Oladipo, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Porter has been waived by the Thunder following the deal. The deal allows for Porter to be expunged from Houston's salary sheet, while Oklahoma City clears roster spots in the transaction. The Thunder also pick up a pair of second-round picks to add to their war chest of future draft capital. In September, Porter was arrested on assault charges -- the latest in a series of off-the-court issues for the 2019 first-round pick. In light of the arrest, the Rockets made it clear that Porter would not be a part of the team moving forward. After being waived by the Thunder, Porter will now become a free agent, but given his reputation and legal issues, he's unlikely to be picked up anytime soon.... See More ... See Less

Rockets' Kevin Porter: Not part of team moving forward
The Rockets informed Porter (personal) on Monday that he will not be part of the team moving forward, Chris Mannix of SI.com reports. Porter was arrested on assault charges in New York City in mid-September and is still facing potential legal punishment. It was reported that the Rockets were attempting to trade the 2019 first-round pick, but given he's been the culprit of numerous off-the-court incidents since coming into the NBA, it seems unlikely any team would be willing to give up any assets to acquire Porter. "The allegations against [Porter] are deeply troubling," Rockets general manager Rafael Stone said. Porter averaged 19.2 points in 59 games last season and is owed $15.9 million in 2023-24.... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Being shopped by Rockets
The Rockets are looking to trade Porter (personal) after he was arrested and charged with assault earlier this week, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. With Porter facing potential legal punishment alongside league discipline following his arrest, the Rockets are attempting to move on from the 22-year-old. Considering Porter has experienced multiple off-the-court issues during the last five years, teams could feel uneasy about acquiring him, making him a possible cut candidate if the Rockets can't find any takers.... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Arrested on assault charges
Porter was arrested and charged with assault in New York City on Monday, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Police were dispatched Monday to a New York hotel, where Porter was arrested on assault charges and taken into custody. In addition to legal ramifications, Porter could face discipline from the team and the league following Monday's incident.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Not playing in season finale
Porter has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Wizards due to right knee soreness. The Rockets have nothing to play for in the season finale except their pride and trying to improve their odds at a higher pick in the draft, so it makes sense to rest their starting point guard, especially since he's suffering from soreness ahead of this season finale. Porter will end the 2022-23 season averaging a career-best 19.2 points per game while adding 5.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Another 20-point effort Friday
Porter totaled 26 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 10-12 FT), three rebounds, five assists and two steals in 38 minutes during Friday's 112-109 victory over the Hornets. Porter scored at least 20 points for the sixth straight game, continuing what has been a strong finish to the season. He has been a second-round player over the past month, averaging 20.9 points to go with 5.7 assists, 1.8 steals and 3.1 triples. His long-term role remains a little uncertain, with many still unsure of whether he can be a starting point guard. For now, he should be looked at as a top-100 asset for next season, barring any major changes to the Rockets' rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Stays hot with 33 points
Porter closed with 33 points (12-20 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist and four steals over 38 minutes during Friday's 121-115 victory over Detroit. Porter has been phenomenal for the Rockets ever since his dud against the Cavaliers on March 26. In his last three games, Porter has put up averages of 30.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals and 4.7 three-pointers. He'll look to keep it going against the Lakers on Sunday.... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Puts up 31 points in loss
Porter recorded 31 points (11-22 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and three steals over 40 minutes during Wednesday's 123-114 loss to the Nets. Porter shot 50.0 percent from the field and scored 12 of his 31 points from downtown, but it wasn't enough to lead his team to victory. The USC product stuffed the stat sheet by recording three steals for the third time in March, and he fell just one rebound shy of a double-double.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Bounces back with 26
Porter ended with 26 points (8-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four assists and one block across 35 minutes during Monday's 137-115 loss to the Knicks. One night after posting a goose egg in the scoring department against the Cavaliers, Porter led the Rockets in scoring as one of seven Houston players to reach double digits. Sunday's performance has been the outlier, though. The fourth-year guard has delivered at least 20 points in five of the last eight games, averaging 19.4 points, 5.8 assist, 5.3 boards, 2.4 threes and 1.3 steals over that stretch.... See More ... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Rough night Sunday
Porter ended Sunday's 108-91 loss to the Cavaliers with six points (3-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists and one steal over 37 minutes. Porter was certainly not at his best in the loss, delivering a performance that was both inefficient and unproductive. Despite putting together what has been a career-best season in terms of fantasy value, Porter's real-life impact continues to be a real talking point. It's hard to envision him as anything more than a role player on a competitive team, meaning his long-term value is far from certain should the Rockets ever figure out how to turn themselves into a winning franchise.... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Posts another big line
Porter contributed 20 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-7 FT), six rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 29 minutes during Friday's 151-114 loss to the Grizzlies. Porter was coming off a triple-double Wednesday against Memphis and put up another massive line Friday, but the Rockets were still blown out and gave up 151 points. Porter is trending up with averages of 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.7 three-pointers over the past six games. The Rockets take on the Cavaliers on March 26 with three games left on their road trip.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Posts triple-double in loss
Porter supplied 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt), 10 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 130-125 loss to Memphis. Porter has been a solid fantasy option for managers all season and put up one of his biggest performances of the year Wednesday. This was his first triple-double of the season, and it couldn't have come at a better time for fantasy managers in the thick of the playoffs. The Rockets sit in last place in the Western Conference, but Porter should continue to see a heavy workload to finish the season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Another solid outing
Porter ended with 25 points (7-15 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five rebounds and four assists over 40 minutes during Sunday's 117-107 loss to the Pelicans. Porter finished with at least 20 points, four rebounds and four assists for a third straight game. During that stretch, the point guard is averaging 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 39.3 minutes per game. However, he continues to struggle with turnovers and has committed eight turnovers over that three-game span.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Posts efficient 27-point effort
Porter finished with 27 points (11-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and one steal across 39 minutes during Wednesday's 114-110 victory over the Lakers. Porter led all players in scoring in the contest, posting his highest point total since mid-December. He scored 18 points in the first half before sustaining a cut over his left eye, but Porter was able to return for the start of the third quarter. The fourth-year guard was uncharacteristically efficient with his shot, making 11 of 16 attempts after shooting just 32.4 percent over his previous three games. Since returning from a lengthy injury absence March 1, Porter is averaging 15.0 points, 7.1 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 three-pointers and 1.1 steals over seven contests.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Records double-double in win
Porter supplied 14 points (5-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 13 assists, six rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 111-109 victory over Boston. Porter continues to score his points inefficiently, but he's at least making up for it to some degree by producing in other categories, particularly the assist column. Since returning March 1 from a foot injury that he sustained back in January, the young guard's scoring average has slipped a bit (13.0), but he's also been averaging 7.3 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 three-pointers and 1.2 steals in that span.... Rockets' Kevin Porter: Cleared to play
Porter (thigh) is available and will start Saturday against the Bulls, Coty M. Davis of SI.com reports. Porter is coming off a one-game absence against the Pacers. With Porter getting the green light to return, Daishen Nix returns to the bench and will lose most of his fantasy value.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Likely to play against Chicago
Porter (thigh) is probable for Saturday's game versus the Bulls. Porter is expected to return to the lineup Saturday after missing the previous game with a left thigh contusion. The 22-year-old guard will likely replace Daishen Nix in the starting five.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Officially ruled out
Porter (thigh) won't play in Thursday's game versus Indiana. Porter has been downgraded from doubtful to out Thursday with a left thigh contusion. Daishen Nix and Josh Christopher are candidates to see extended minutes in his absence. Porter's next chance to suit up is Saturday's matchup with Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Unlikely to play Thursday
Head coach Stephen Silas said Porter is doubtful for Thursday's matchup against the Pacers due to a thigh contusion, Coty M. Davis of SI.com reports. Porter has appeared in four straight games since a month-and-a-half-long absence due to a foot injury, but he's expected to be sidelined again due to a thigh contusion. He presumably picked up the injury during Tuesday's loss to Brooklyn, during which he finished with eight points (2-11 FG), eight rebounds and seven assists in 29 minutes. In Porter's likely absence, Daishen Nix should see increased run, but Houston could also elevate TyTy Washington from the G League.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Kevin Porter: Dazzles as playmaker Sunday
Porter finished with 19 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, 13 assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Sunday's 142-110 victory over San Antonio. Porter was efficient from the field and extremely active as a playmaker, posting his best assist total of the campaign here. This was his seventh double-double of the season and just his fourth game with double-digit assists, but it's also proof of his potential and a sign of what he can do when he's orchestrating the offense and playing at his best. This was also his first double-double of the year, but most importantly, he seems to be fully recovered from the foot injury that sidelined him for 20 games.... See More ... See Less
