  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Rare appearance in win

Samanic accumulated three points (0-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and two rebounds across six minutes during Tuesday's 124-117 victory over the Thunder. Samanic cracked the rotation for the first time in over a week, playing six minutes due to other players being in foul trouble. Given he has featured in only half of the Jazz games to this point, there is no reason to consider him a pickup in any format.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Returns to action Monday

Samanic (illness) played two minutes in Monday's 125-108 win over the Nets, finishing with five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt) and one rebound. Samanic had missed Utah's last three games due to a non-COVID-19-related illness, but he was cleared ahead of Monday's contest and got a chance to play over the final two minutes of the contest while the Jazz had already sewn up the win. The 23-year-old will likely find himself outside of head coach Will Hardy's rotation while the Jazz have their full complement of forwards available.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Will play Monday

Samanic (illness) is available for Monday's game against the Nets, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Samanic was initially questionable for Monday's matchup due to a non-COVID illness, but he'll be able to return following a three-game absence. His availability shouldn't significantly impact Utah's rotation.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Questionable for Monday

Samanic (illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Nets. Samanic could potentially miss his fourth consecutive game due to a non-COVID illness. Samanic's status doesn't figure to impact the rotation.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Won't play Saturday

Samanic (illness) will miss Saturday's game against the Kings, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Samanic is a fringe rotation player for the Jazz, and it doesn't help his case that Lauri Markkanen is healthy again. Samanic's next chance to suit up is Monday against the Nets.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Remains sidelined Thursday

Samanic (illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Samanic will be unavailable for a second consecutive game due to an illness. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return Saturday against the Kings.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Won't play Wednesday

Samanic has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks due to an illness, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Samanic played a season-high 17 minutes during Monday's loss to the Thunder, but he'll be unavailable for the first half of a back-to-back set Wednesday. His absence shouldn't significantly impact Utah's rotation, especially if Lauri Markkanen (hamstring) and Walker Kessler (foot) return to action.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Cracks rotation in loss

Samanic amassed five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds and one block across six minutes during Wednesday's 105-91 loss to the Grizzlies. Samanic slid into the rotation for just the seventh time this season, scoring five points in six minutes during garbage time. Given he has yet to play more than nine minutes in any game, Samanic can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Healthy for camp

Samanic (back) is healthy for the start of training camp, according to KSL Sports. While speaking Monday at media day, Samanic said his focus during training camp is to show off his defense and shooting ability. He had a terrific showing at Summer League before being shut down with a minor back injury. However, the Jazz have a deep frontcourt after the addition of John Collins this offseason, so it won't be easy for Samanic to win a rotational role to begin 2023-24.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Downgraded to out

Samanic (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's Summer League game versus the Rockets, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. Samanic was initially listed as questionable, but he's since been downgraded to out due to upper back tightness. If Utah wins, he could suit up for the championship game Monday, but that seems unlikely.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Dealing with back tightness

Samanic is questionable for Sunday's Summer League contest against the Rockets due to upper back tightness. Samanic recorded 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, two bocks and one steal Friday, but he apparently is dealing with a back issue ahead of the semifinal matchup. Utah has already ruled five other players out Saturday, so if Samanic is also sidelined, the Jazz will be extremely shorthanded versus Houston.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Good to go against Minnesota

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Tagged as questionable for Monday

Samanic (knee) is listed as questionable for Monday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Timberwolves. The Jazz will likely re-evaluate Samanic closer to the 10 p.m. ET opening tip before determining whether he'll be able to play through the right knee contusion. Samanic has yet to play in Las Vegas, but he saw action in all three of the Jazz's games during the Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging 13.3 points 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 22.6 minutes in those contests.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Suffers knee injury

Samanic suffered a knee injury during Thursday's Summer League game against the Grizzlies and will not return, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Samanic appeared to have a knee-to-knee collision and limped off the court. We will likely get a proper update from the Jazz on Friday. Samanic has had a strong Summer League so far and had eight points, five rebounds and three assists in this contest before leaving for good.

Samanic finished with a game-high 19 points while falling just one rebound shy of a double-double. Samanic is only 23 years old and could vie for a rotation spot with the Jazz this season if he continues to impress.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Impressive in limited action

Samanic closed his third season with averages of 9.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals in 23.0 minutes per game over seven contests. Samanic was productive in his short time with the Jazz, who saw most of their main rotation players sitting to end the season. The third-year forward logged four consecutive starts to close out the campaign, averaging 13.0 points per game, including a career-high 23 points in a win over Denver on April 8. Due to his solid play, Samanic was able to secure a contract extension with the Jazz through the 2023-24 season.

  • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Starting against Lakers

Samanic will start against the Lakers on Tuesday, Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation reports. Lauri Markkanen is sitting out Tuesday with a left hand contusion. • Jazz's Luka Samanic: Inks 10-day deal with Utah

Samanic agreed to sign a 10-day deal with the Jazz on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Samanic just wrapped up the G League regular season with the Maine Celtics, where he averaged 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-10 sharpshooter has a similar skillset as Kelly Olynyk and Lauri Markkanen, so even if he doesn't carve out a rotational role with Utah, Samanic still has a great chance to learn and develop his skills while working with two of the best versatile forwards in the league.

  • Luka Samanic: Model of efficiency in victory

Samanic knocked down 66.7 percent of his tries from the field and scored in double figures for his fifth consecutive contest. Thursday's showing was a positive sign for the 23-year-old who had shot just 25.0 percent and 21.7 percent from the field in his previous two appearances.
