Pippen was waived by the Lakers on Monday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Pippen is a candidate to return to the Lakers' G League affiliate in South Bay, with whom he averaged 21.4 points, 5.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 27.9 minutes per game across 19 regular-season appearances in 2022-23. Pippen won't play in Monday's Summer League game against the Heat due to a sprained ankle, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. Pippen will log his first start with Los Angeles in the preseason after playing 12 minutes Wednesday against the Suns. The guard recorded six points and three rebounds in that preseason game.
