Top Naz Reid News

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Productive off bench Sunday

Reid provided 12 points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and one steal across 22 minutes during Sunday's 119-97 victory over the Grizzlies.

Reid has a complicated path toward earning more regular playing time given that Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert are playing exceptionally well together as the starting frontcourt. However, Reid is making the most of his minutes, and he can be a decent option in fantasy despite his steady bench role. He has scored in double digits in six of his last eight outings, averaging 10.6 points and 3.4 rebounds while logging just 19.0 minutes per game in that span.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Logs another efficient performance

Reid posted 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds and a steal in Minnesota's 133-115 loss to the Suns on Wednesday.

Although the Timberwolves broke their seven-game win streak, Reid continues to shine in his role as the sixth man, as he led all bench scorers for the ninth time this season. The 24-year-old center is averaging 13.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks in 21.5 minutes thus far while shooting a remarkable 44.4 percent from three. It's unclear whether he'll be able to maintain this efficiency, but expect Reid to continue producing solid stat lines on a nightly basis regardless.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Available against Golden State

Reid (neck) is available for Sunday's game against the Warriors, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reports.

Reid exited Friday's game against the Spurs due to neck soreness but will be able to suit up two days later. He's averaging 13.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 22.9 minutes per game this season.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Deemed game-time call Sunday

Reid (neck) is questionable for Sunday's game against Golden State.

Reid was forced to exit Friday's matchup against San Antonio due to neck spasms, and he's since been added to the injury report with neck soreness. The Timberwolves should determine Reid's availability after re-evaluating him Sunday morning.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Leaves game with neck issue

Reid left Friday's 117-110 win over the Spurs with neck spasms and wasn't able to return. He finished with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes before exiting.

The Timberwolves initially labeled Reid questionable to return, but there were only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter at that time. Consider him day-to-day heading into the Timberwolves' next game Sunday versus Golden State. If Reid is unable to play, Kyle Anderson and Troy Brown could be thrust into expanded roles off the bench in the Minnesota frontcourt.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Displays two-way play off bench

Reid accumulated 14 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals across 25 minutes during Monday's 114-109 overtime victory over Boston.

Reid led all bench players in Monday's contest in scoring while finishing as one of four Wolves players with a double-digit point total in an impressive victory over the Celtics. Reid showcased his two-way play in the win, tallying a team-high block total while swiping a team-high-tying pair of steals in 25 minutes of action. Reid has been the best player off Minnesota's bench this season, reaching double figures in scoring in all six appearances.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Impresses off bench against Miami

Reid finished with 25 points (10-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals across 28 minutes during Saturday's 106-90 victory over the Heat.

Reid was a standout performer for Minnesota in this one, and he managed to outplay both Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns despite not starting. Reid is not expected to move to the starting lineup regardless of how good he looks, as that would mean sending Towns or Gobert to the second unit, but his numbers have been quite good. Through two games, Reid has racked up 35 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Strong showing off bench Thursday

Reid scored 14 points (4-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT) while adding eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in 21 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 114-105 preseason win over the Bulls.

Even with Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) getting the night off, Reid remained in his usual role as the frontcourt anchor for the second unit and produced impressive numbers. The contract extension he signed over the summer could keep him in Minnesota through 2025-26, and the commitment from the team suggests his workload could increase from the 18.4 minutes a night he saw in 2022-23, even if Towns and Rudy Gobert stay mostly healthy.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Booms off bench

Reid posted 22 points (8-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in 19 minutes during Saturday's 121-112 victory over the Knicks.

Reid has been a constant scoring weapon throughout preseason, racking up 52 points in 53 minutes across three games. If Minnesota can find versatile lineups to get Reid reasonable playing time throughout the season, he's talented enough to garner Sixth Man of The Year credibility.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Strong showing off bench

Reid scored 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-2 3Pt) with three rebounds, an assist and a steal in 16 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 104-96 preseason win over the Mavericks.

With Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert both healthy to begin the exhibition schedule, Reid is again set for a role on the second unit, but he could still see significant minutes after signing a two-year, $27 million contract extension in June to remain with Minnesota. The 24-year-old center has already attempted five three-pointers through two preseason games after hoisting up 3.2 a game with a 34.6 percent success rate last season, and if Reid can become even more of a floor-spacing option in 2023-24, it would be easier for coach Chris Fitch to find room for him alongside either of the team's two starting bigs.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Strong in preseason debut

Reid delivered 16 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds and an assist across 18 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 111-99 preseason win over the Mavericks.

Reid spent the offseason rehabbing from a wrist injury and was participating in camp in the last few days, so his presence in the preseason opener wasn't surprising. He's slated to open the season as Karl-Anthony Towns' backup, but given Towns' injury history and Reid's solid numbers in limited minutes, he could be an intriguing option in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Participating in camp

Reid (wrist) has been participating in practice to begin training camp.

Reid underwent surgery to repair a left scaphoid fracture in his left wrist in April, but he appears to be healthy heading into 2023-24. There has been chatter about Reid playing a larger role this season after he signed a lucrative extension this offseason, but he's still expected to operate in a reserve role behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Agrees to three-year deal

Reid (wrist) and the Timberwolves agreed Sunday on a three-year, $42 million deal that includes a player option, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Reid broke his wrist a few weeks before the regular season ended and was sidelined for the Timberwolves' postseason series loss to Denver. The talented big man was expected to miss six weeks following his surgery in early April, so he should be full go for offseason workouts this summer. Reid appears to have taken a discount to remain in Minnesota, as he likely could've commanded a bigger deal elsewhere. As a reserve last year (57 games), Reid averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16.9 minutes, but he thrived as a starter (11 games), posting 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks in 26.1 minutes. It's unlikely he'll be a regular starter as long as Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert are available, but regardless of his role, Reid will be a critical part of the Timberwolves' rotation for years to come.

  • Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Undergoes successful surgery

Minnesota announced Wednesday that Reid underwent successful surgery to repair a left scaphoid fracture and will be sidelined infinitely

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Reid is looking at a six-week absence following the surgery, so the Timberwolves will need to make a deep postseason run for the talented big man to even have a shot at returning this season. The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for Reid, who averaged 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals-plus-blocks with 57/37/76 shooting splits over his last eight appearances before breaking his wrist.
