Player Outlook
The Browns traded Dobbs to Arizona during preseason. The 28-year-old has only thrown 85 passes over six NFL seasons with the Steelers, Jags and Titans, but now he's competing with fifth-round rookie Clayton Tune to start until Kyler Murray returns from the PUP list. Dobbs finally got his first two starts late last season, but the Titans lost both games to the Cowboys and Jags. Dobbs might bear watching in two-QB or Superflex leagues if he wins the job but otherwise shouldn't be on Fantasy radars.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: O'Connell considering QB change

Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell said after Monday's 12-10 loss to the Bears that he'll evaluate Dobbs' four-game performance at quarterback before naming a starter following the Vikings' Week 13 bye, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. O'Connell mentioned that he debated putting Nick Mullens into Monday's game after Dobbs struggled and threw four interceptions, so the Vikings could be serious about considering a quarterback change. Dobbs would still likely be the favorite to start over Mullens or Jaren Hall, but it doesn't sound like a given. Since being acquired from the Cardinals on Oct. 31, Dobbs has started in three of his four appearances and has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 6.5 yards per attempt, five touchdowns and five interceptions while adding 142 yards and three scores on the ground and fumbling six times (losing three).

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Done in by turnovers Monday

Dobbs completed 22 of 32 passes for 185 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions in the Vikings' 12-10 loss to the Bears on Monday night. He also rushed twice for 11 yards. Dobbs ultimately cobbled together a decent completion rate, but he averaged just 5.8 yards per attempt and constantly short-circuited drives with his interceptions. Improbably, only one of Dobbs' four picks led to any Bears points, and only a field goal at that. However, the first three came in Chicago territory, which was particularly costly in a game decided by two points. Dobbs did manage to pull the Vikings ahead just past the midway point of the fourth quarter with a 17-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson, but Justin Fields ultimately one-upped him by leading a game-winning drive. Dobbs takes a 13:10 TD:INT (4:5 in four games with Minnesota) into a Week 14 road matchup against the Raiders on Sunday, Dec. 10 following a Week 13 bye.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: QBs to Start

Dobbs' three-game streak of scoring at least 26.9 Fantasy points ended in Week 11 at Denver when he scored just 18.9 Fantasy points. It feels like that's the floor for his production, which makes him a safe starter in all leagues. And you've clearly seen the ceiling, which gives him top-five upside in this matchup with the Bears. Dobbs has now rushed for a touchdown in five games in a row, and he's averaging 40 yards per game on the ground over that span. Chicago allows an average of 21.1 Fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and I expect Dobbs to put on a show again Monday night.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Solid in Week 11 loss

Dobbs completed 20 of 32 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed eight times for 21 yards and another score in the Vikings' 21-20 loss to the Broncos on Sunday night. He also committed three fumbles, losing one and recovering the other two. Dobbs turned in another serviceable performance from an overall production standpoint, but his ball security issues Sunday night stood out. The journeyman signal-caller's two turnovers led to Broncos field goals, and after leading the Vikings to three points on a marathon 14-play drive in the fourth quarter, Dobbs couldn't help Minnesota answer Denver's go-ahead touchdown, throwing four straight incompletions to close out his team's final possession. Nevertheless, Dobbs has job security and the possible return of Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on his side as he looks ahead to a Week 12 divisional home clash with the Bears on Monday night, Nov. 27.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

Dobbs is still considered a reliable starter, but he's not without flaws. The Broncos pass defense is definitely good, and they now have seven quarters of game film to study how the Vikings are rolling with Dobbs. But Dobbs has been playing lights-out and benefits from a savvy playcaller and a good offensive line. If Justin Jefferson plays then I can't see benching Dobbs, but even if Jefferson doesn't play I'd roll with Dobbs over Justin Fields, Sam Howell, Russell Wilson and Trevor Lawrence. He has more potential than they do.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: QBs to Start

Dobbs had another big game in Week 10 against New Orleans with 27.1 Fantasy points, and he's now scored at least 26.9 Fantasy points in three games in a row, including two as a member of the Vikings. We might get lucky and Justin Jefferson (hamstring) returns in Week 11 to further enhance Dobbs' receiving corps, but he's thriving right now even without Jefferson. Dobbs has become an elite running quarterback with a rushing touchdown in four games in a row, and he now has seven games this season with at least 41 rushing yards. He should be considered a top-10 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues against the Broncos, who are No. 5 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks this year.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Week 11 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

It wasn't quite as dramatic as last week, but Dobbs put together yet another tremendous Fantasy showing Sunday, making plays with both his arm and his legs en route to a 27.1-point showing against a good Saints defense. The Vikings were also still quite pass-heavy, dropping back to throw on 41 of 68 offensive snaps despite going out to a 21-3 lead in the first half, a good sign that Kevin O'Connell trusts Dobbs enough to keep his foot on the gas pedal. Dobbs has been terrific in two games with the Vikings and now could have Justin Jefferson back from IR in Week 11 with a legitimate chance to make a run for the playoffs. It's one of the unlikeliest stories in the league this season, but Dobbs has just been irrepressible so far, and he looks like a legitimate starting Fantasy option in this offense.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Strong in first start with Vikings

Dobbs completed 23 of 34 passes for 268 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints. He added eight rushes for 44 yards and an additional score. Dobbs began the game on fire and had 260 total yards to go with two scores in the first half. His first trip to the end zone came on the ground, as he ran in a score from seven yards away. He followed that up by running a perfect two-minute drill, which he capped by finding T.J. Hockenson for a 28-yard touchdown. The Vikings took their foot off the gas in the final two quarters and coasted to victory, but Dobbs has a positive outlook for the final half of the season -- particularly once Justin Jefferson (hamstring) can return.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Sleeper QBs

Is there a better story in the NFL right now than Dobbs? He gets traded to Minnesota from Arizona last Tuesday, is forced into action on Sunday at Atlanta after Jaren Hall (concussion) gets hurt and leads the Vikings to a 31-28 comeback victory while scoring 28.9 Fantasy points. It's the fourth time this season he scored at least 27 Fantasy points, and he's helping you with his legs since he's run for at least 41 yards in six games this year and has a rushing touchdown in three games in a row. It's not an easy matchup against New Orleans, but I like Dobbs as a borderline No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

Considering how the Saints have fared versus non-studly quarterbacks over their past four games, Dobbs should have a safe floor of 18 Fantasy points with a very high ceiling. Plenty of Fantasy managers will have issues with his play from when he was in Arizona, but that was in an offense with a worse offensive line, a worse receiving corps, an inexperienced playcaller and a good run game when James Conner was healthy. He literally has the opposite of all of those things in Minnesota! I'd start Dobbs as a low-end QB1 over Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Derek Carr.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)

Dobbs already has four games this season with at least 24 Fantasy points, which is tied for third-most behind only Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. He has a difficult matchup against the Saints but they have allowed five different quarterbacks to rush for more than 30 yards and Tyson Bagent ran for 70 against them last week. I like Dobbs as a top-15 QB rest of season, especially if he gets Justin Jefferson back soon.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

Dobbs was a hero for the Vikings in Week 9 when he came on for an injured Jaren Hall (concussion) and led Minnesota to 31-28 comeback victory after just joining the team last Tuesday via trade from Arizona. He scored 28.9 Fantasy points, which is the fourth time this year he's scored at least 27 Fantasy points, and he might have the most long-term appeal of the quarterbacks listed here, especially if Justin Jefferson (hamstring) returns soon. I don't love his matchup in Week 10 against the Saints, but Dobbs could surprise us again, especially since he's run for at least 41 yards in six games this year and has a rushing touchdown in three games in a row. He should be added in all one-quarterback leagues for up to 5 percent of your FAB.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Leads Minnesota to win off bench

Dobbs took over for an injured Jaren Hall (concussion) after two series in Sunday's win at Atlanta and went 20-of-30 passing for 158 yards for two touchdowns. He also had seven carries for 66 yards and a touchdown. Dobbs led the Vikings on a game-winning touchdown drive with two minutes and eight seconds left. Dobbs put together an amazing performance considering he joined the team only Wednesday after his trade from Arizona. He wasn't expected to play in the game since he was just getting up to speed on the playbook, but he was called into action when Hall exited early in the contest. Dobbs started off poorly by taking a sack in the end zone for a safety and also losing a fumble early in the game. However, his rushing ability made a huge impact, especially on a key fourth-down play late in the game. Dobbs will likely be the starter the rest of the season after this performance.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Week 10 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

The degree of difficulty of what Dobbs did Sunday absolutely cannot be overstated. The Vikings traded for him Tuesday, with the hope that maybe he could be up to speed in time for Week 10's game against the Saints. Instead, with starter Jaren Hall going out with a concussion early Sunday against the Falcons, Dobbs was forced into action with teammates whose names he admittedly didn't know. And he looked pretty terrific, leading the Vikings to an unlikely victory while passing for two touchdowns and rushing for another. Dobbs wasn't a particularly useful Fantasy option with the Cardinals, and he probably won't be a must-start guy in Minnesota. However, he has much better weapons with the Vikings, and could get Justin Jefferson back in the next few weeks (he's eligible to come off IR in Week 10, though it doesn't necessarily seem likely). Dobbs' scrambling ability obviously plays up in Fantasy, and if he can just keep the offense on track, that might be enough to make him worth using against the right matchups, especially in 2QB leagues.

  • Vikings' Joshua Dobbs: Gets moved to Minnesota

The Cardinals traded Dobbs to the Vikings on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Two days removed from Arizona coach Jonathan Gannon reaffirming Dobbs' status as the team's starting quarterback and then rescinding it one day later, Dobbs is on the move to a QB-needy team after the Vikings lost Kirk Cousins for the season to a torn Achilles this past Sunday. It's unclear if Dobbs will start over rookie fifth-round pick Jaren Hall immediately, but the veteran at least will have three days to practice with his new team before new coach Kevin O'Connell will need to make such a decision.

  • Cardinals' Joshua Dobbs: Not starting in Week 9

Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that Dobbs won't start Sunday's game in Cleveland, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. After Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens, Gannon told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com that Dobbs would remain the team's starter Week 9, but after reviewing the tape, he's opted to move on to Kyler Murray or rookie Clayton Tune. Murray is closing in on a return to action from last season's torn ACL, but if he doesn't gain clearance to play Sunday, it'll be Tune under center for Arizona. Through eight games this season, Dobbs has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions, recorded 47 carries for 258 yards and three more TDs, and fumbled eight times (four lost).

  • Cardinals' Joshua Dobbs: Working with starters in practice

Dobbs worked with the starting offense during the open portion of Friday's practice while Kyler Murray (knee) continued throwing to practice-squad players, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. The Cardinals haven't yet indicated whether Dobbs is scheduled for another start, or if his appearance with the first-team offense was an act of gamesmanship on the part of head coach Jonathan Gannon to create that impression. Murray was removed from the injury report Thursday and will need to either be re-added Friday or activated from the PUP list by Saturday in order to be eligible to play this weekend. Even if Murray is added back to the 53-man roster, it's possible that he'll merely handle a backup role Sunday in what would be his first game since last November.

  • Cardinals' Joshua Dobbs: Scores lone TD in loss

Dobbs completed 19 of 33 pass attempts for 146 yards while taking seven carries for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Seahawks. Dobbs struggled as a passer for the second week in a row, resulting in his third game without a passing touchdown in seven starts this season. The 28-year-old was able to salvage his day from a fantasy standpoint by ripping off a 25-yard touchdown scamper on Arizona's lone touchdown drive Sunday. The journeyman backup is averaging 33.1 rushing yards through seven weeks, but he appears to be overmatched as a passer in the rare instances he is given a clean pocket. Kyler Murray (knee) might not be ready until Week 10, giving Dobbs at least a couple more starts for the 1-5 Cardinals, beginning with a home matchup against Baltimore next Sunday.
