Player Outlook
There were reports that Hunt, 28, found a new team when he worked out for the the Saints on Aug. 8, but the former Chiefs standout left without a deal. Hunt was still a popular Fantasy pick as a No. 2 back in Cleveland but fizzled last year thanks to a massive drop in efficiency (3.8 yards per carry and 6.0 yards per catch, both career lows) and opportunity (9.3 touches per game, lowest in his career). Unless he finds a new team and surprises, Hunt is probably at best a late-round dart throw.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Not at practice

Hunt (groin) won't practice Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Hunt was listed with the same groin issue on the Browns' Week 13 injury report, but he ended up taking a team-high 12 carries for 48 yards in the 36-19 loss to Los Angeles this past Sunday. A return to practice Thursday would put him on track to play in this Sunday's game against Jacksonville, though perhaps in a secondary role off the bench behind inconsistent lead back Jerome Ford.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Leading rusher in loss

Hunt carried the ball 12 times for 48 yards and caught his only target for zero yards in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Rams. The 28-year-old back actually led the Browns in carries and rushing yards, but Jerome Ford made the biggest impact with a receiving touchdown in the first quarter. Hunt has seen double-digit touches in seven of the last eight games while working in a timeshare with Ford, but he hasn't reached 50 scrimmage yards in five straight, leaving him a TD-dependent fantasy option heading into a Week 14 clash with the Jaguars.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Logs limited practice

Hunt (groin) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Hunt didn't practice Wednesday, but his return to a limited session one day later bodes well for his chances of being available Sunday against the Rams. If he's available this weekend, Hunt will be in line to continue to work in tandem with fellow RB Jerome Ford, a context that has resulted in Hunt (who is averaging 9.9 carries and 31.8 rushing yards to go along with six TDS in nine games to date) maintaining a degree of weekly fantasy utility of late.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Sits Wednesday with groin injury

Hunt didn't practice Wednesday due to a groin injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Hunt dealt with a groin injury earlier in the season, though it's unclear if his absence Wednesday was related to the prior issue or is a new concern. Either way, Hunt may have been playing hurt in this past Sunday's 29-12 loss to Denver, as Hunt's seven carries in that game marked his lowest total since Week 4. Hunt will have two more opportunities to return to practice this week, but if he fails to do so, additional backfield touches could be in store for Jerome Ford and/or Pierre Strong in Cleveland's run-heavy offense Sunday against the Rams.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Single-digit touches in loss

Hunt carried seven times for 22 yards and was not targeted in Sunday's 29-12 loss to the Broncos in Week 12. This marked the first time in seven games that Hunt (19 snaps) was limited to single-digit touches. In the wake of Jerome Ford's high-ankle injury in Week 7, Hunt's workload increased to the point where head coach Kevin Stefanski described the two backs as his 1A and 1B. It appears now that Ford (51 snaps, nine rushes, seven targets) is the clear No. 1 back, although Hunt's red-zone usage still give him some fantasy appeal. The team's situation at quarterback could also impact how much volume the two RBs see in Week 13. Rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson was removed from Sunday's game with a concussion, and Stefanski doesn't have an immediate answer for who will start against the Rams. If DTR is unavailable, that leaves PJ Walker under center, or possibly Joe Flacco off the practice squad.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Touchdown streak ends

Hunt rushed the ball 12 times for 36 yards in Sunday's 13-10 win over the Steelers. Hunt saw an exactly even split in carries with Jerome Ford and was the more productive of the duo on a yards-per-carry basis. However, Hunt was on the sideline for the Browns' only touchdown of the game, which ended his five-game touchdown streak. Overall, Hunt has fewer than 50 rushing yards in all but one game this season, so he's reliant upon finding the end zone to deliver fantasy-relevant stat lines.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Scores in fifth straight

Hunt rushed the ball 10 times for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-31 win over the Ravens. Hunt logged seven fewer carries than Jerome Ford and was far less impressive with his opportunity. However, he maintained a significant role deep in the opposition's territory, which he converted into a three-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Hunt now has a touchdown in each of his last five games despite never topping 55 rushing yards in that span.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

If Hunt scores he might get you 10 PPR points. That's been his season average, but in his past four he's delivered 13.7 PPR points per game. Expect less than that from Hunt this week given the circumstances, making him a definite flex at best. I'd start Jaylen Warren and Gus Edwards ahead of Hunt, but I'd take Hunt over the Panthers RBs, Antonio Gibson and Devin Singletary.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: RBs to Start

I like the setup for both Browns' running backs this week against the Cardinals. Ford and Hunt are worth using as No. 2 Fantasy options in all leagues. I'll give a slight lean toward Ford as his ankle sprain from Week 7 wasn't as serious as initially feared. Ford played in Week 8 at Seattle but was limited to just nine carries for 37 yards and one catch for 2 yards on two targets. Prior to that, Ford scored at least 11.1 PPR points in three out of four games since Nick Chubb (knee) was injured, and I expect him to get back on track against Arizona. Hunt has scored at least 13.7 PPR points in three games in a row, and he's been hot after Cleveland's bye in Week 5. Nine running backs have scored at least 13.1 PPR points against the Cardinals this season, and the Browns will continue to ride Ford and Hunt in Week 9.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Leads three-way backfield split

Hunt rushed the ball 14 times for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Seahawks. He added one reception for 12 yards. Hunt split carries three ways with Pierre Strong and Jerome Ford, though he managed to lead the way with 15 total touches. He wasn't particularly efficient on the ground as he failed to crack a gain of double-digit yards, though he turned in a decent fantasy performance thanks to a one-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. Hunt could continue to lead the backfield as long as Ford is bothered by an ankle injury, though it's unlikely he'll see a full workhorse role at any point this season.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Receives green light for Sunday

Hunt (thigh) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. A true game-time decision heading into last week's game against the Colts while nursing the same injury, Hunt suited up and carried 10 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns while failing to haul in his lone target in the Browns' 39-38 win. Though he never managed anything more than limited participation in practice this week, Hunt could be headed for his largest workload of the season after playing no more than 26 snaps on offense in any of his previous four appearances. Top back Jerome Ford is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but after exiting the win over the Colts with a high-ankle sprain and missing practices Wednesday and Thursday before taking part in Friday's session as a limited participant, he could have his snaps monitored carefully even if he plays. Hunt thus profiles as a stronger fantasy option than usual if Ford suits up, though managers would be able to include Hunt in lineups with an even greater degree of confidence if Ford is deemed inactive ahead of the Browns' 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Officially limited Thursday

Hunt (thigh) was limited at Thursday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Hunt joined Jerome Ford as a non-participant Wednesday due to a thigh injury, but the former managed to log some on-field work one day later. With Ford expected to miss 1-to-2 weeks due to a high right-ankle sprain, Hunt is the top candidate to produce in his stead, assuming he's able to suit up. Hunt's listing on Friday's practice report will reveal his chances to play Sunday at Seattle.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Back at practice

Hunt (thigh) returned to practice Thursday, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports. After he missed practice Wednesday, Hunt's return to Thursday's session has him trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Assuming he's active this weekend, he could be busy Week 8 with Jerome Ford (ankle) a candidate to be unavailable.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Hunt will hopefully be OK despite being on the injury report Wednesday with a thigh issue, but it's likely the same scenario as Week 7 when he missed practice and still played at Indianapolis. Hunt is expected to start in Week 8 at Seattle with Jerome Ford (ankle) hurt, and I would use Hunt as a low-end No. 2 running back in all leagues. He's actually scored at least 15.1 PPR points in each of his past two games against the 49ers and Colts, and the Browns have had a running back score at least 16.1 PPR points in five of six games this season. Seattle has also allowed a running back to score at least 11.5 PPR points in five of six games this year.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Won't practice Wednesday

Hunt (thigh) isn't in line to practice Wednesday, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports. Hunt's Week 8 status gains added import with lead back Jerome Ford (ankle) expected to miss a week or two due to the injury he suffered in this past Sunday's 39-38 win over the Colts, per Jake Trotter of ESPN.com. Due to the thigh injury of his own, Hunt was viewed as a game-time decision heading into the Week 7 contest, but he suited up and took 10 carries for 31 yards and two touchdowns while failing to secure his lone target. The Browns likely didn't plan to lean on Hunt as heavily had Ford not exited the contest early, as Hunt ended up splitting snaps with third-stringer Pierre Strong following Ford's departure even though the game was competitive throughout. Hunt now has two more chances to return to practice ahead of this Sunday's game against the Seahawks, though head coach Kevin Stefanski told Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram on Wednesday that he expects Hunt to be available this weekend.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Likely Week 8 starter

Hunt is expected to serve as the starting running back Week 8 against the Seahawks, as Jerome Ford (ankle) will be unavailable, Zac Jackson and Nando Di Fino of The Athletic report. Ford will miss 1-to-2 weeks after leaving Sunday's win over Indianapolis. Without Ford, the Browns rolled with a nearly even split of Hunt (19 snaps) and Pierre Strong (23). Hunt, who joined Cleveland during Week 3, may not be ready for a full-time workload, but his three touchdowns the last two weeks puts him on the fantasy radar.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Finds end zone twice

Hunt rushed the ball 10 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 39-38 win over the Colts. He did not record a reception on one target. Hunt spent most of the game as the complementary option to Jerome Ford (ankle), the latter of whom exited the game early in the fourth quarter. Hunt saw only two carries thereafter, one of which went for the game-winning touchdown. Ford was spotted with a boot on his right ankle after the game, meaning it's possible that Hunt will lead the backfield for a Week 8 matchup against the Seahawks. Even if that's the case, he's shown little efficiency with his work to this point by averaging only 3.2 yards per carry on 32 attempts this season.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Cleared to play Sunday

Hunt (thigh) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts. Hunt had been listed as questionable and looked like a true game-time decision heading into Sunday after he had his practice reps limited throughout the week while he managed a thigh strain, but he showed enough in pregame warmups for the Browns to give him the green light to play. Though Hunt grinded out 47 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries to go with three catches for 24 yards in last week's win over the 49ers, he could see his role scaled back a bit this Sunday while he manages the injury. In addition to Hunt and starter Jerome Ford, the Browns are keeping two other running backs active against the Colts in Pierre Strong and Deon Jackson.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Looks like true game-time decision

Hunt (thigh) is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Hunt is officially listed as questionable due to a thigh injury, but the Browns appear set to wait and see how he fares during a pregame workout before a determination is made on his availability. Jerome Ford will likely be the favorite to lead Cleveland's backfield no matter the case, but Hunt piled up 71 yards from scrimmage plus a score on 15 touches versus the 49ers in Week 6. Official word on Hunt's status will arrive when Cleveland releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Browns' Kareem Hunt: Questionable for Week 7

Hunt (thigh) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Hunt had his practice reps capped throughout the week by a thigh injury. If he's able to play Sunday, he likely will continue to cede the majority of backfield touches to Jerome Ford, though Hunt made the most of his 37 percent snap share in last week's win over the 49ers, racking up 71 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 15 touches.
