  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Won't play in Super Bowl LIX

The Eagles did not activate Uzomah (abdomen) from injured reserve, and he will not play in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs on Sunday, per the NFL's transaction log. Uzomah was a full participant in practice all week, but he will observe Sunday's game from the sidelines. The veteran tight end was signed to the Eagles' practice squad in early October before being signed to the active roster Dec. 4. Uzomah suffered an abdominal injury in Week 17 against the Cowboys, which was severe enough for him to be placed on IR. He did not record a target across the seven regular-season games he played in 2024.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Questionable for Super Bowl

Uzomah (abdomen), who remains on IR, practiced in full Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday. Uzomah continues to practice in full, a sign that he's healthy enough to contribute during the Super Bowl, but the Eagles will need to officially activate the veteran tight end to the 53-man roster by Saturday's deadline in order for him to compete versus Kansas City. If Uzomah is activated in time to suit up Sunday, he'll slot in behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra on the positional depth chart.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Turns in full practice

Uzomah (abdomen) was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday's injury report. Uzomah suffered an abdominal injury during the Eagles' Week 17 win over the Cowboys. The veteran tight end was moved to injured reserve thereafter, resulting in him missing the regular-season finale as well as Philadelphia's first three playoff contests. Uzomah's ability to practice in full Wednesday is a sign that he is near full health, and he could be activated from IR ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LIX clash with Kansas City.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Questionable for Super Bowl

Uzomah (abdomen) is listed as questionable for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 against the Chiefs. Uzomah remains on injured reserve and has been out since Jan. 1 after being injured in Week 17. Uzomah played 132 offensive snaps during the regular season but didn't draw a single target in the passing game. He'll get another chance to practice next week ahead of the Super Bowl.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Practice window opened

The Eagles have opened up the practice window for Uzomah (abdomen) ahead of the Super Bowl. Uzomah, who suffered an abdominal injury during Week 17 action, will thus have an opportunity to resume practicing ahead of the Eagles' Feb. 9 contest against the Chiefs. If Uzomah is activated ahead of the Super Bowl, he'd bolster the depth of a Philadelphia tight end corps that's currently led by Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. Prior to his injury, Uzomah was not targeted during the seven regular-season games that he played in.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Moves on up

Uzomah signed with the Eagles' 53-man roster from their practice squad Wednesday. Uzomah has been elevated from the practice squad in each of Philadelphia's last three games, so he wasn't eligible to be promoted again. With Dallas Goedert (knee) considered week-to-week, the Uzomah's signing to the active roster was the only way for him to suit up Sunday against the Panthers.

  • C.J. Uzomah: Back to practice squad

Uzomah reverted to the Eagles' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Uzomah played 33 snaps (20 on offense, 13 on special teams) during the Eagles' 24-19 win over the Ravens on Sunday. Uzomah has reached the three-game maximum of elevations from the practice squad, but he could be signed to the Eagles' active roster if Dallas Goedert is placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. If Goedert does get placed on IR and Uzomah is signed to the active roster, the latter would be slated to serve as the Eagles' No. 2 tight end behind Grant Calcaterra.

Uzomah was elevated from the Eagles' practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens. Philadelphia would need to sign him to the active roster in order for him to play for the team beyond this week. In his first two games with the club, Uzomah totaled 19 offensive snaps and did not draw a target. He'll serve as the Eagles' No. 3 tight end behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra on Sunday.

  • Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Agrees to terms with Philadelphia

Uzomah (knee) agreed to a one-year contract with the Eagles on Thursday, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The nine-year veteran appeared in the Jets' first 12 games in 2023 before sustaining a season-ending MCL injury. In those contests, Uzomah tallied eight receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown. Once 31-year-old has recovered from his MCL issue, he's expected to compete for the Eagles' top backup tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.

  • C.J. Uzomah: To be released by Jets

Uzomah finished the 2023 season on injured reserve with an MCL injury, and he'll likely have to compete for a backup job if he wants to continue his NFL career.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Likely to be released by New York

Uzomah (knee) is expected to be released by the Jets this offseason, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. The veteran tight end finished the 2023 season on injured reserve after spraining his MCL in Week 13. His signing has proved to be a disaster for Jets GM Joe Douglas, as Uzomah has produced just 29 catches for 290 yards and three touchdowns across 27 contests with the team. Entering the final year of a three-year, $24 million deal, Uzomah is due an $8 million salary in 2024. The Jets can save $5.3 million against the cap by releasing the 31-year-old, leaving behind over $5.9 million in dead money.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Officially placed on IR

The Jets placed Uzomah (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday. Uzomah's move to IR comes after he sustained a sprained MCL of his right knee in the Jets' Week 13 loss to the Falcons. Given that he will have to spend a minimum of four games on IR, Uzomah won't be eligible to take the field until Week 18 against the Patriots, though the Jets could opt to shut him down for the season if the team is eliminated from playoff contention. The Jets activated tight end Kenny Yeboah (hamstring) from IR in a corresponding transaction.
