  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Inks future deal with Buffalo

The Bills signed Virgil to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Virgil caught on with the Bills' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Broncos' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was signed to Buffalo's active roster Nov. 8, and after being waived Dec. 14 he was signed back to the practice squad. He ended up playing in seven regular-season games and spent most of his time on special teams, though he did not show up in the box score otherwise. The 26-year-old wide receiver out of Appalachian State will be on the Bills' 90-man roster when the new league year starts March 12, which will allow him to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp ahead of the 2025 campaign.

  • Jalen Virgil: Back with practice squad

Virgil reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Virgil has now been elevated to the Bills' active roster for each of their two playoff games. However, the Appalachian State product didn't play a snap in either contest, likely serving as additional wide receiver depth in case of injuries. He could return to the Bills' active roster for Sunday's AFC Championship Game in Kansas City.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Elevated again for divisional round

The Bills elevated Virgil from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday.

Virgil was also elevated ahead of last Sunday's wild-card win against Denver, though he ended up being inactive for that contest. Buffalo doesn't have any significant injuries among its receiving corps, so if Virgil is active Sunday in the divisional round against Baltimore, he would likely play primarily on special teams.

  • Jalen Virgil: Back to practice squad

Virgil reverted to Buffalo's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Virgil was elevated to the Bills' active roster Saturday but was inactive for Sunday's wild-card game against the Broncos. He appeared in seven regular-season games for Buffalo, mostly playing on special teams. That would likely be his role should he be elevated for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Ravens.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Elevated for wild-card round

The Bills elevated Virgil from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Virgil played in seven regular-season games for the Bills in 2024 and had two separate stints on Buffalo's practice squad. He's mostly been used on special teams, and that would likely be his role against the Broncos on Sunday if he's active.

  • Jalen Virgil: Returns to practice squad

Virgil reverted to Buffalo's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Virgil played 15 snaps on special teams during the Bills' 24-21 win over the Patriots and managed to register a tackle while on punt coverage. Virgil has spent two separate stints on the Bills' practice squad this season, but he has reached the three-game maximum for being elevated to the active roster. Thus, the Bills would have to sign Virgil to the 53-man roster in order for him to keep playing in Buffalo.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Elevated for Week 16

Virgil was elevated from Buffalo's practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Virgil appeared in six previous regular-season games for the Bills but didn't record a target over that span. His usage will likely remain minimal against the Patriots in Week 16.

  • Jalen Virgil: Remaining in Buffalo

The Bills signed Virgil to the practice squad Tuesday.

Virgil was signed to the Bills' active roster Nov. 8, but he did not register a target across his six regular-season outings. He was waived from the Bills' active roster Saturday, but rather than take his talents elsewhere, the 26-year-old wide receiver will stick around in Buffalo.

  • Jalen Virgil: Cut loose by Buffalo

The Bills waived Virgil on Saturday.

Buffalo needed to make room on the active roster with defensive players Dawuane Smoot (wrist) and Baylon Spector (calf) being activated off injured reserve, and Virgil was one of the cuts. The 26-year-old appeared in six games with the Bills this season but didn't see a passing target. Virgil logged 36 snaps on offense and 68 on special teams.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Still looking for first target

Virgil went without a target while taking the field for one of the Bills' 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 44-42 loss to the Rams.

Virgil has been active for each of the Bills' last six games but has yet to draw a target over his 36 snaps on offense. He'll continue to bring most of his value to Buffalo on special teams.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Signs to active roster

Virgil was signed to the Bills' active roster Friday.

Virgil has been with the Bills' active roster in each of their last two games, failing to record a stat while playing 32 total snaps (14 offensive and 18 on special teams). He's expected to serve as a depth piece in Buffalo's wide receiver room while also contributing on special teams in the Week 10 matchup against the Colts.

  • Jalen Virgil: Reverts to practice squad

Virgil reverted to Buffalo's practice squad Monday.

Virgil was elevated ahead of Sunday's win over the Dolphins, as Amari Cooper (wrist) was unable to play. Virgil saw playing time on both offense and special teams but failed to record any stats.
