Top Devin Singletary News

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Tallies season-low two touches

Singletary carried twice for eight yards and didn't receive a passing target in Sunday's 14-11 Week 14 loss to New Orleans.

Singletary opened the campaign as New York's starting running back, but he's since given way to rookie Tyrone Tracy in the backfield. Tracy carried 16 times Sunday and was targeted 10 times, while Singletary was barely heard from with his two rushes, which went for four yards apiece. Given his increasingly limited opportunities, Singletary would likely need Tracy to miss time in order to be a viable fantasy asset again, even in deeper leagues.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Gets seven rushes in Week 13

Singletary had seven carries for 23 yards and didn't haul in his only target during Thursday's 27-20 loss at Dallas.

Singletary started the game and earned the first two carries on the Giants' initial possession, perhaps due to Tyrone Tracy having lost fumbles in both of the previous two contests, but the former's last touch occurred late in the first half while the latter finished it out as the team's main RB en route to 11 touches for 65 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD. Singletary has remained a part of the offense since sitting out Weeks 5 and 6 due to a groin strain, but he's averaging just 6.2 touches for 25.8 total yards over the last six outings. He likely will continue to take a back seat to Tracy in New York's next game Sunday, Dec. 8 against the Saints.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Scores team's only TD in big loss

Singletary rushed twice for three yards and a touchdown while bringing in both of his targets for seven yards in Sunday's 30-7 Week 12 loss to Tampa Bay.

The entire Giants offense struggled Sunday in its first game this season under the guidance of quarterback Tommy DeVito, and game script led to just 20 total New York rushing attempts in the contest. Rookie Tyrone Tracy continued to receive the bulk of the backfield work with nine carries for an efficient 42 yards, but it was Singletary who recorded the team's only score on a one-yard plunge into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. That opportunity came with Tracy briefly benched due to losing his second fumble in as many games early in the third period, but he later returned to the field and finished out the contest, so Singletary will likely work in a backup role again Thursday when the Giants face Dallas in a Thanksgiving matchup between teams with a combined 6-16 record.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Works as backup again

Singletary rushed the ball eight times for 40 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Panthers. He added one reception on one target for five yards.

Singletary remained the clear backup to Tyrone Tracy, though his eight carries were his highest mark since returning from a groin injury in Week 7. He was fairly effective with his opportunity, ripping off significant gains of nine and 14 yards. Tracy lost a key fumble in the loss but was otherwise impressive, so Singletary is likely to continue to serve in a limited role moving forward.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Gets seven carries to Tracy's 16

Singletary rushed seven times for 33 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Commanders.

Tyrone Tracy cleared concussion protocol Friday and reprised his role as the Giants' lead back, limiting Singletary to a change-of-pace role. New York's running game is well positioned for success in Week 10 against the generous Panthers defense in Germany, but Singletary will likely continue to cede the majority of carries to Tracy.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Minimal role again Monday

Singletary rushed twice for 11 yards and secured two of three targets for 12 yards in the Giants' 26-18 loss to the Steelers on Monday night.

As his scant workload indicates, Singletary took a clear back seat to rookie Tyrone Tracy (head), who excelled with 145 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries despite exiting the game twice with injuries. Singletary saw only five carries in his Week 7 return from a groin injury after Tracy impressed during the former's two-game absence, and unless the head injury that forced Tracy's second and final exit from the game Monday lingers into Week 9, the minimal role for the veteran back should continue against the Commanders in Sunday's divisional battle.
