Jaguars' Maason Smith: Missing Week 10
Smith (ankle) was a limited practice participant Friday, but he has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
The rookie second-round pick was limited in practice all week, but he will be sidelined for a third straight game due to an ankle injury. Smith's next chance at suiting up will be Week 11 against Detroit on Sunday, Nov. 17. Jordan Jefferson and Jeremiah Ledbetter will be the primary backups at defensive tackle behind starters DaVon Hamilton and Arik Armstead.

Jaguars' Maason Smith: Set to miss another contest
Smith (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's Week 9 matchup against Philadelphia, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Smith will sit out a third straight game, as he's dealing with an ankle injury. The rookie second-round draft pick did manage to log a trio of limited practices this week, so he'll look to return to game action Sunday, Nov. 10 against Minnesota. Jordan Jefferson could again see a smattering of defensive snaps due to Smith being sidelined.

Jaguars' Maason Smith: Will be sidelined Week 8
Smith (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.
Smith hurt his ankle during practice this week, per Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union. The rookie defensive tackle notched his first career sack and logged a season-high 49 percent of the Jaguars' defensive snaps against Chicago in Week 6, so his injury comes as he was building some momentum. Jordan Jefferson could see more work with Smith sidelined.

Jaguars' Maason Smith: Headed to Duval in second round
The Jaguars selected Smith in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 48th overall.
Smith was a surprising selection -- something of a recurring theme with GM Trent Baalke whenever he gets out of the first round -- and it wouldn't be shocking if this pick is recalled somewhat bitterly in upcoming years. The case for the LSU tackle is that he's a plus athlete at 6-foot-5, 306 pounds (5.01-second 40-yard dash, 31-inch vertical), and with 35-inch arms, Smith has incredible reach. The problem is that he just wasn't very productive at LSU, starting just his junior season after tearing his ACL his second season and playing off the bench as a freshman. Fellow LSU tackle Mekhi Wingo might prove the better NFL prospect.
