Chargers' Elijah Molden: Moved to IR
Molden (shin) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Molden fractured his fibula in last Saturday's win against New England. Though he'd technically be eligible to return if the Chargers make the Super Bowl, head coach Jim Harbaugh has already stated that the fourth-year safety will not play again this season, per Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site. Tony Jefferson is a candidate to step into a starting role in Molden's place, though that job could ultimately go to Alohi Gilman (hamstring), who was designated to return from IR on Wednesday.

Chargers' Elijah Molden: Season-ending injury confirmed
Molden will not play again this season after suffering a broken fibula in the Chargers' win over the Patriots on Saturday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Molden's 2024 campaign will come to an early end , one in which the Washington product recorded a career-high 75 combined tackles and seven passes defended, including three interceptions, in 15 games. The Chargers will now likely turn to Eddie Jackson, who recently joined the team after being released by the Ravens in November, to fill in for Molden.

Chargers' Elijah Molden: Suffers broken fibula Saturday
Molden broke the fibula in his left leg during the Chargers' 40-7 win over the Patriots on Saturday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
Molden was carted off late in the third quarter of Saturday's game after suffering a non-contact injury to his left leg. Initial tests have revealed that he suffered a broken fibula, and if further tests confirm the diagnosis he will be sidelined for the rest of the 2024 campaign. Molden will likely end the regular season with 75 tackles (43 solo), seven pass defenses (including three interceptions) and two fumble recoveries across 15 games. Eddie Jackson will probably start at free safety in the Chargers' regular-season finale against the Raiders due to Molden's injury.
