Fantasy News

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Gets new contract with Cardinals

Arizona signed Blount to a two-year contract Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Blount appeared in 15 games for Arizona in 2024, playing nearly all of his 287 total snaps on special teams. Now he's set to run it back and projects to be a significant contributor on special teams again in 2025.

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Placed on IR due to rib injury

The Cardinals placed Blount (ribs) on injured reserve Monday. Blount suffered a rib injury during the Cardinals' overtime loss to the Panthers in Week 16, which forced him to be sidelined during Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Rams. His placement on IR will end his 2024 campaign but will also open up a spot on the Cardinals' 53-man roster for the regular-season finale against the 49ers on Sunday. Blount mostly served on special teams in 2024 and will finish his third NFL regular season with five tackles (three solo) across 15 games.

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Won't play against Rams

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Blount (ribs) won't play in Saturday's game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Blount was carted off the field after injuring his ribs during the Cardinals' 36-30 overtime loss to the Panthers this past Sunday. He's mostly served on special teams this season, so his absence won't impact the Cardinals' secondary rotation that much for Saturday's contest. Blount's next opportunity to play will come during Arizona's regular-season finale against San Francisco next weekend.

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Won't return against Carolina

Blount (ribs) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Panthers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. Blount was carted off the field after suffering a rib injury on a kickoff and will not return to Sunday's game. He's primarily served on special teams this season so his absence won't affect the Cardinals' secondary all that much.

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Good to go for Week 7

Blount (hamstring) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports. Blount suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Packers, but it doesn't appear to be serious since he has been a full practice participant this week. He has primarily played on special teams this year and has accumulated three tackles (one solo) through six regular-season games.

  • Cardinals' Joey Blount: Inactive Sunday

Blount (knee) is listed as inactive for Sunday's matchup with Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website reports. Blount's absence will mark his second straight due to a knee injury. As a result, Andre Chachere and Qwuantrezz Knight will be the available depth options at safety.

  • Joey Blount: Joins Cards' practice squad

Arizona signed Blount to its practice squad Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. After parting ways with Seattle at the end of August, Blount has now found an opportunity to make an impression with a different team. He played 175 snaps for the Seahawks in 2022, but they came exclusively on special teams.

  • Joey Blount: Misses 53-man roster

Blount (shoulder) was waived/injured by Seattle on Tuesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. As a rookie, the 24-year-old appeared in 11 games, recording eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Carted off field

Blount was carted off the field at Monday's practice after suffering an apparent back injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. There is currently no word on the severity of Blount's injury. It occurred when he was diving to try and catch a tipped pass in the end zone. He is competing for a depth safety role with the team.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Injures kneecap Saturday

Coach Pete Carroll said Blount hurt his kneecap during Saturday's 24-10 defeat at Kansas City, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Carroll added that Blount is in a lot of "pain and discomfort" after he was forced out in the first half. A core special teamer for the Seahawks, Blount had eight tackles and a fumble recovery in 10 appearances prior to Week 16 action.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Returns to full participation

Blount (quadriceps) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, suggesting that he has recovered from his injury, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Blount will be available for the Seahawks when they face the Buccaneers in Munich on Sunday. He's unlikely to contribute much, though, as the backup safety has yet to play a defensive snap all season.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Available Sunday

Blount (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Blount will play just his third game of the season due to a lingering hamstring issue. The rookie defensive back played all 23 of his snaps on special teams during last week's loss to the Saints.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Not likely for Week 3

Blount (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday's matchup against Atlanta, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. After not practicing Wednesday and Thursday, it's not surprising Blount is listed as doubtful. While it is unclear when the injury arose, the rookie was able to play nine snaps during his NFL debut Week 1.

  • Seahawks' Joey Blount: Listed as doubtful for Week 2

Blount (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Blount wasn't listed on the injury report all week, but he's apparently unlikely to suit up due to a hamstring issue. The undrafted defensive back out of Virginia signed with the Seahawks in May and played nine snaps during his NFL debut, playing exclusively on special teams.
