Player Outlook
Ferguson will compete to be the starting tight end in Dallas, and he could be a surprise Fantasy option in 2023. He's not worth drafting in the majority of Fantasy leagues, but he could be a waiver-wire addition during the season. Dalton Schultz is now in Houston, and Ferguson will compete with rookie Luke Schoonmaker and Peyton Hendershot for the Cowboys' No. 1 tight end job. Schultz leaves behind 89 targets, 57 catches, 577 yards and five touchdowns, and he was a primary option in the passing game over the past three seasons. Now, Dallas added Brandin Cooks this offseason, and the Cowboys should rely more on CeeDee Lamb, Cooks and Michael Gallup then the tight ends in the passing game. Still, Ferguson could be a surprise Fantasy option if he outplays Schoonmaker and Hendershot, and this tight end battle is one to watch in training camp and potentially all year.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Leading receiver in win

Ferguson finished with five receptions on eight targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Eagles. Ferguson finished as the Cowboys' leading receiver against a normally stout Philadelphia defense Sunday, bringing his season receiving line up to 51/570/5 through 13 games. The 24-year-old has developed a strong rapport with Dak Prescott as a trusted option in drive-extending moments. The eight targets ties the tight end's highest total since these two division rivals met back in Week 9. Ferguson will look to continue his solid fantasy season against the Bills next Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson was a star against the Eagles in Week 9 with seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets, and he should do well again in the rematch in Week 14. He's coming off a great game in Week 13 against Seattle with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, and Dak Prescott continues to lean on him as a key member of the passing game. Philadelphia has also allowed a tight end to score at least 10.8 PPR points in four of the past five games.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Clutch TD to cap productive night

Ferguson secured six of eight targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 41-35 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night. The talented tight end finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night for the Cowboys, and his 12-yard scoring grab with 4:37 remaining put Dallas ahead for good in the see-saw affair. Ferguson's productive night snapped a three-game stretch of lackluster numbers, during which the second-year pro had failed to eclipse four catches and 35 yards in any one game. Ferguson's touchdown grab also snapped a two-game drought in that department, and he'll look to put together a successful encore in a Week 14 Sunday night matchup versus an Eagles team he posted a season-best 7-91-1 line against on back in Week 9.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

If you start Ferguson, you're basically hoping for a touchdown grab or for him to see a ton of targets in a come-from-behind effort. The Cowboys are expected to lead this matchup pretty handily, which can squash the upside for a lot of yardage from Ferguson. As for his chances of scoring, 37% of his targets (7 of 19) over the past five weeks have come in the red zone. That's good. But the Seahawks have allowed one touchdown to a tight end all season (David Njoku, Week 8)! Mark Andrews had a great game against Seattle, but even he didn't score. I suspect the Seahawks will have a plan to try and cover Ferguson near the end zone without having to sacrifice too much elsewhere. He's a low-upside play I'd sit for Juwan Johnson, Gerald Everett and Logan Thomas.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

After three games in a row where Ferguson scored at least 12.6 PPR points, his past two outings have been largely underwhelming. He's combined for just 10.7 PPR points in his past two games against Carolina and Washington, and he only had one catch for 35 yards against the Commanders on Thanksgiving on three targets. I'm hopeful he can bounce back in Week 13 against Seattle, but the Seahawks have allowed just one touchdown to a tight end this season and only three guys to score more than nine PPR points. Ferguson is just a low-end No. 1 Fantasy tight end in the majority of leagues for Week 13.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Just one catch in Thanksgiving win

Ferguson caught one of three targets for 35 yards in a 45-10 rout of the Commanders on Thursday. His big gain opened the Cowboys' first scoring drive of the afternoon and seemed to signal a productive game was coming for Ferguson, but Dak Prescott wound up spreading the ball around and connecting with 10 different receivers in total. Ferguson's three targets were his lowest volume since the team's Week 7 bye, and he's posted a 19-231-3 line on 29 targets during that five-game stretch as he solidifies his chemistry with Prescott. The tight end might have trouble getting into the end zone again in Week 13 against a Seahawks defense that's given up only one touchdown to a TE all season.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Ferguson snapped his three-game streak of scoring at least 12.6 PPR points in Week 11 at Carolina when he finished with just 6.2 PPR points. Luke Schoonmaker caught a touchdown for the Cowboys, so at least a Dallas tight end has scored in four games in a row. I'm hopeful Dak Prescott goes back to Ferguson this week against the Commanders, and he remains a No. 1 Fantasy tight end in all leagues on Thanksgiving.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Catches three in win

Ferguson caught three of five targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 33-10 win over the Panthers. Ferguson saw fellow tight end Luke Schoonmaker open the scoring with an 18-yard touchdown during the first quarter. Without a score himself, Ferguson snapped a three-game touchdown streak. The promising second-year pass catcher will now face a quick turnaround ahead of Thursday's Week 12 clash with the Commanders.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Gets into end zone again

Ferguson caught four of seven targets for 26 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants. The second-year tight end has gotten into the end zone in three straight games, and Ferguson kept his streak going Sunday with a one-yard grab in the second quarter that was the first of Dak Prescott's four TD passes on the day. Ferguson's yardage has been erratic from week to week, but he's seen at least seven targets in five of nine games this season and has earned Prescott's trust heading into a Week 11 contest against the Panthers.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

I do worry a little bit about Ferguson not seeing a lot of targets in what should be a one-sided Cowboys win. But his role in the offense has grown and in the event the Giants bring the blitz, Ferguson could be an easy outlet for Prescott. That's on top of his already-established role as a red-zone target hog. He's probably a little more touchdown-dependent than I'd like to admit but he still qualifies as a top-12 TE because of that. I'd start Evan Engram and Cole Kmet over him in PPR, but not Logan Thomas, Kyle Pitts or David Njoku.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Breaks out against Eagles

Ferguson caught seven of 10 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles. The second-year tight end set new career highs in targets and yards while tying the career-best seven receptions he had in Week 4 against the Patriots. Ferguson also caught his third TD of the season on a four-yard toss from Dak Prescott in the first quarter, and the Dallas quarterback seemed to trust him more than any other option aside from CeeDee Lamb. Ferguson has had an up-and-down first campaign as the Cowboys' starting TE, but he may be gearing up for a big second half of the year ahead of a Week 10 meeting with the Giants.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Sneaky Sleeper (Lineup Decisions)

If you start Ferguson, you're hoping for a touchdown. That's really it -- Ferguson isn't used enough outside of the red zone to be counted on for good numbers, though any kind of high-scoring game could warrant more opportunities, especially if the Cowboys can't run the ball again. Ferguson is on the TE1 bubble ahead of Taysom Hill in PPR as well as Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, Luke Musgrave and Tyler Higbee.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson came off the bye in Week 7 with four catches for 47 yards and a touchdown on four targets against the Rams in Week 8. This is now four games this year with at least 9.8 PPR points, and he should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy tight end in this matchup with the Eagles. Three tight ends have seen at least six targets against Philadelphia this season, and all three (Hunter Henry in Week 1, T.J. Hockenson in Week 2 and Logan Thomas in Week 8) have scored at least 16.4 PPR points. Ferguson has three games with at least seven targets this year, and the Cowboys should be throwing a lot in this NFC East showdown.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson opened the season with at least 9.8 PPR points in three of his first four games before struggling in his past two outings prior to the bye against San Francisco and the Chargers, combining for just 8.3 PPR points. I still believe in Ferguson and his role with the Cowboys -- he played 86 percent of the snaps against the Chargers -- and I'll start him against the Rams in Week 8. The Rams have allowed four tight ends in the past four games (Mo Alie-Cox, Kylen Grandson, Dallas Goedert and Trey McBride) to score at least 10.2 PPR points, and Ferguson will hopefully follow suit this week.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Week 8 Streamers (TE Preview)

Ferguson's opportunity is awesome, but his production has not been. I will trust the opportunity as I don't really think he'd even be available on the waiver wire if he wasn't coming off a bye. I don't believe he has near as much upside as Kincaid or McBride.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Week 8 Waiver Priority List

I'm hopeful that Ferguson will get back on track after the Dallas bye in Week 7, and he's worth adding in all leagues as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option for 5 percent of your FAB. Ferguson opened the season with at least 9.8 PPR points in three of his first four games before struggling in his past two outings prior to the bye against San Francisco and the Chargers, combining for just 8.3 PPR points. I still believe in Ferguson and his role with the Cowboys, and big games should be coming to close the season.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: One catch in win

Ferguson caught his only target for 15 yards in Monday's 20-17 win over the Chargers. Ferguson continued to operate as the team's primary option at tight end, playing 86 percent of the Cowboys' offensive snaps. Despite seeing his highest snap share of the season, the 24-year-old's one target and one grab were his lowest marks of the season. Dallas heads into a Week 7 bye, but fantasy managers should expect Ferguson to bounce back as one of the Cowboys' primary options in the passing game in a Week 8 matchup with the Rams.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson had a down game in Week 5 at San Francisco with three catches for 28 yards on three targets, but all the Cowboys struggled in that game with the 49ers. Prior to that, Ferguson scored at least 9.8 PPR points in three games in a row, and he has three games this year with seven targets. The Chargers have allowed four tight ends to score at least 7.4 PPR points this season in just four games, and I expect Dak Prescott to continue to lean on Ferguson in this matchup. I'm trusting him again as a low-end starter in all leagues.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

The only reason to give Ferguson the nod is because he's a safety valve for Prescott to lean on. It's a volume play where you're counting on Ferguson to catch six or seven balls and average around 10 yards per catch. It makes him much more appealing in PPR than non-PPR, which is why I'm OK starting him over Dallas Goedert and Kyle Pitts.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson has scored at least 9.8 PPR points in three games in a row, and he's coming off his best performance of the season in Week 4 against New England with seven catches for 77 yards on seven targets. This isn't an easy matchup against the 49ers in Week 5, but San Francisco just allowed Zach Ertz to score 11.3 PPR points with six catches for 53 yards on 10 targets. Ferguson has seven targets in three of four games this year, and he's worth trusting as a top-10 Fantasy tight end in Week 5.
