  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: No practice, but feeling good

Ferguson (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Joe Hoyt of AllDLLS.com reports. While he never stood much chance to practice three days after suffering a bone bruise and MCL sprain, Ferguson told reporters Wednesday that his pain is already down to a "zero" on a 1-10 scale, per Patrick Walker of DallasCowboys.com. The injury clearly isn't as bad as it initially looked when he made an early exit from the Week 1 win at Cleveland, with Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reporting Wednesday that coach Mike McCarthy is optimistic about Ferguson's chances of playing against the Saints this Sunday. Even if he doesn't end up playing this week, Ferguson should avoid a stint on injured reserve and push to return within the next few games.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Optimism for Week 2

Head coach Mike McCarthy said that Ferguson (knee) will work with the rehab group at practice Wednesday, and the Cowboys remain optimistic about his chances of playing Sunday against the Saints, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Ferguson suffered an MCL sprain and bone bruise in his knee during Dallas' win over the Browns in Week 1, but he's surprisingly not yet been ruled out for Week 2. The tight end will have two more opportunities to upgrade his practice participation before receiving an injury designation for the weekend. If Ferguson is able to make enough progress, the Cowboys may not hesitate to clear him to play versus New Orleans. Backup tight end Luke Schoonmaker and fullback Hunter Luepke will both be candidates to handle increased offensive reps in the event that Ferguson misses any time.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Not yet ruled out for Week 2

Ferguson hasn't been ruled out to play Sunday versus the Saints, despite being diagnosed with an MCL sprain and bone bruise in his knee Monday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Ferguson's MCL sprain seems to be on the minor end if the Cowboys still consider him a candidate to suit up Week 2, though the team's top tight end appears more likely than not to miss time. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network labeled Ferguson week-to-week, and even the shorter recovery timeframes for MCL injuries usually require two weeks of rest. Fullback Hunter Luepke benefited from increased target volume Week 1 versus Cleveland after Ferguson left the field, but 2023 second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker also seems to be a candidate to start at tight end at home against the Saints on Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Dealing with MCL sprain

Ferguson (knee) has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Ferguson at least has avoided a more severe knee injury, but an MCL sprain will still likely result in the starting tight end missing time. Packers QB Jordan Love also sustained an MCL sprain Week 1 and is expected to miss 3-to-6 weeks, but at this point Ferguson's specific recovery timeline remains undisclosed. Rapoport adds that Ferguson also is dealing with a bone bruise and is considered week-to-week. Luke Schoonmaker could step into the starting role Week 2 versus the Saints, but it was fullback Hunter Luepke who saw increased target volume Sunday against the Browns after Ferguson left the game.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Likely avoided ACL tear

Ferguson (knee) is believed to have avoided an ACL tear based on initial tests, and X-rays on his knee came back negative Sunday, but he will have an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury he suffered in Sunday's 33-17 win over the Browns, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Ferguson isn't out of the woods, but at least he seems to have avoided a season-ending injury to his ACL. A recovery timeline will likely be established after additional testing clarifies the nature and extent of Ferguson's injury. His next chance to take the field will be Sept. 15 against the Saints.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Injures knee in Week 1

Ferguson (knee) went to the locker room in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Browns, Nick Harris of the Cowboys' official site reports. Ferguson went down holding his knee after getting tackled at the end of a two-yard catch, which brought him up to three catches for 15 yards on five targets. The severity of the starting tight end's injury will likely be clarified after additional testing, but with the Cowboys holding a comfortable 27-10 lead at the time of his injury, Ferguson probably won't return to action Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

The matchup is tough since Cleveland was No. 7 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends last year, but Dak Prescott will still lean on Ferguson in this matchup. The last time we saw Ferguson he posted a huge stat line in the playoff loss against Green Bay with 10 catches for 93 yards and three touchdowns on 12 targets, so hopefully he stays hot this week. And last year, the Browns faced seven tight ends who had at least five targets, and four of them scored at least 13.3 PPR points.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Sees no preseason action

Ferguson didn't play in any of the Cowboys' three preseason games this season. The 2022 fourth-round pick is already locked in as the starting tight end, so Dallas didn't waste any preseason snaps on Ferguson, instead giving more work to the depth options fighting for a roster spot like John Stephens, Peyton Hendershot and Brevyn Spann-Ford. Ferguson had a breakout 2023 campaign, hauling in 71 of 102 targets for 761 yards and five touchdowns, and with CeeDee Lamb still holding out and Brandin Cooks nursing a knee injury at the end of training camp, he could become an even more important receiving option for Dak Prescott to begin the regular season.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Logging impressive offseason

Coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that Ferguson is "having a great offseason" and praised the tight end's "consistency and his passion," Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports. Ferguson, a 2022 fourth-round pick, enjoyed a real breakout season as Dallas' top tight end last season, with a 71-761-5 receiving line and Pro Bowl honors. The third-year pro is now reportedly improving at multiple facets of the game, and he could be positioned to take the next step forward as a fantasy producer. Dak Prescott's clear top target will be CeeDee Lamb, with Brandin Cooks working as the No. 2 wideout, but at this stage 2023 second-rounder Luke Schoonmaker (hamstring) doesn't look like a true threat to Ferguson's workload.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Three TDs in stunning playoff loss

Ferguson caught 10 of 12 targets for 93 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card loss to the Packers. The second-year tight end was Dak Prescott's top option in the red zone, catching a one-yard score on the final play of the first half before adding two more TDs of seven and 14 yards in the fourth quarter as the Cowboys tried desperately to mount a comeback. Ferguson's huge playoff performance came on the heels of a breakout regular season in which he caught 71 of 102 targets for 761 yards and five touchdowns, finishing ninth among TEs in receptions and eighth in receiving yards. Assuming Prescott returns to Dallas in 2024, Ferguson figures to be one of his top targets once again.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Six catches in season finale

Ferguson caught all six of his targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Commanders. As expected, Washington's defense put up little resistance to the Dallas passing attack, and Ferguson tied Brandin Cooks for second on the team in catches behind CeeDee Lamb's 13. Ferguson wraps up a breakout regular season with 71 catches for 761 yards -- both top-10 figures in the NFL among tight ends -- and five TDs on 102 targets, and he figures to be one of Dak Prescott's favorite options in the wild-card round Sunday as the Cowboys take on the Packers.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Contrarian DFS Play

Ferguson hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 13. He hasn't topped 50 yards since Week 14. Hopefully that pulls down his roster rate, because the role is still just as good and the targets are still there. In a game that could see Dak Prescott throw for 400 yards and 4 TD if he wants to, I love the idea of an underpriced, under-rostered Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Four catches in win

Ferguson recorded four receptions on six targets for 33 yards in Saturday's 20-19 win over the Lions. Ferguson entered the game having seen eight targets in four consecutive games, but he was overshadowed by Brandin Cooks as the secondary producer in Dallas' offense in Saturday's win. The end result was Ferguson's lowest yardage total since Week 12. Positively, he still has at least four catches in five consecutive games.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson only had 8.5 PPR points in Week 16 at Miami, but he should rebound this week against Detroit at home. In his past two home games, Ferguson had 11 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown, and he scored at least 12.2 PPR points in each outing against Seattle and Philadelphia. The Lions are No. 10 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, and Ferguson remains a top-10 Fantasy tight end in all leagues.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Posts four receptions Sunday

Ferguson totaled four catches (on eight targets) for 45 yards during Sunday's 22-20 defeat in Miami. Since the Cowboys' Week 7 bye, Ferguson has recorded at least four receptions in seven of the last nine games, a stretch in which he put together a 40-469-4 line on 61 targets. That equates to a respectable 11.7 YPC and 7.7 YPT, but he fell short of both marks Sunday. Ferguson will have a chance to bounce back this coming Saturday against a Lions defense that has conceded the 11th-most receiving yards (790) and fifth-most touchdowns (six) to opposing tight ends in 15 contests on the campaign.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson has three games in a row with eight targets and at least five catches, and he scored at least 10.4 PPR points in each outing against Seattle, Philadelphia and Buffalo. Dak Prescott should continue to lean on Ferguson in Week 16 at Miami in what should be a shootout, and hopefully he gets at least seven targets. Three tight ends had at least seven targets against the Dolphins this season, and two of them have scored at least 16.6 PPR points.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Six catches in blowout loss

Ferguson recorded six receptions on eight targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills. Ferguson was one of the few Cowboys skill-position players to post a fairly typical stat line in the blowout loss, though his path to that production was atypical. He failed to record a reception until the first possession of the third quarter and accounted for three catches and 23 yards during a garbage-time touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, Ferguson has at least five receptions and eight targets in three consecutive games, giving him a very consistent role in what is typically one of the more potent offenses in the league.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

The Bills could be without safety Micah Hyde (neck), which should help Ferguson, who has scored at least 12.2 PPR points in each of his past two games against Seattle and Philadelphia. Over that span, Ferguson has 11 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets. Ferguson should continue to be viewed as a top-10 Fantasy tight end in all leagues for Week 15, especially if Hyde is out.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Leading receiver in win

Ferguson finished with five receptions on eight targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Eagles. Ferguson finished as the Cowboys' leading receiver against a normally stout Philadelphia defense Sunday, bringing his season receiving line up to 51/570/5 through 13 games. The 24-year-old has developed a strong rapport with Dak Prescott as a trusted option in drive-extending moments. The eight targets ties the tight end's highest total since these two division rivals met back in Week 9. Ferguson will look to continue his solid fantasy season against the Bills next Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: TEs to Start

Ferguson was a star against the Eagles in Week 9 with seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets, and he should do well again in the rematch in Week 14. He's coming off a great game in Week 13 against Seattle with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, and Dak Prescott continues to lean on him as a key member of the passing game. Philadelphia has also allowed a tight end to score at least 10.8 PPR points in four of the past five games.
