Player Outlook
When the Vikings offense was more conservative in 2021, Joseph averaged 8.8 points per game and was a top-10 kicker. Last year, head coach Kevin O'Connell kicked his offense into overdrive and it took field-goal chances away from Joseph, leaving him with a 7.8-point average and outside the top 12 kickers. Given that O'Connell's offense is even more explosive this year, Joseph may not come through for big numbers. His Week 1 matchup versus the Bucs could work out for him, but don't be surprised if he disappoints in the three or four games after. He's worthy of a final-round pick.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Perfect in loss

Joseph made both of his field-goal attempts and extra-point tries in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Lions. Joseph was good from 39 and 43 yards in defeat, which brought him to a 24-for-30 tally on FGAs this season. All six of his misses came from beyond 40 yards, as he went 3-for-6 from 40-49 yards out and 4-for-7 from 50-plus yards. The Florida Atlantic product is set to be a free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal last March, and it's feasible that the Vikings could explore other options at the position this spring.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Puts two through the uprights

Joseph made of two of three field-goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints. Joseph has been busy after only seeing two FGAs in the team's first four contests and now has three or more in the team's last five games. Unfortunately, the Florida Atlantic product was unable to connect from 54 yards out early in the fourth quarter Sunday, but he did convert from 40 yards on the team's opening drive and again from 33 yards on Minnesota's first possession of the second half. Next up for Joseph is a trip to Denver for a matchup with the Broncos in Week 11.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Tough day in ugly win

Joseph made two of his three field-goal attempts and one of his two extra-point tries in Sunday's 19-13 win at Chicago. Joseph failed to convert on both an extra-point try and a field-goal attempt for the first time this season in Week 6. In his defense, the former kick was blocked and the latter was a 57-yarder on a cool fall day in the Windy City. Even still, Minnesota's offense looked strained without Justin Jefferson (IR-hamstring) and will draw a brutal matchup versus San Francisco's defense in Week 7.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Connects on all atempts

Joseph made both of his field-goal attempts and extra-point tries in the Vikings' 27-20 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Joseph had only attempted two field goals all season coming into the day, but fortunately for fantasy managers, he saw more action in Week 5 and came through when called upon. The Florida Atlantic product made his first kick from 40 yards out and then followed up with another from 29 yards, making him 4-for-4 on attempts this season. He also remained perfect on PATs, connecting on both to give him a perfect 14-for-14 on the showing for the season in that category. Next up for Joseph and the Vikings is a divisional matchup with the Bears.

Jospeh made his lone field-goal attempt and all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Chargers. Joseph was good from 23 yards out in the second quarter, in what was just his second FGA of the season through three games. He's now 2-for-2 on field goals and 9-for-9 on PATs this season. • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Just one FGA through two games

Joseph didn't attempt a field goal but made all four PAT tries in Thursday's 34-28 loss to the Eagles. Joseph has attempted just one field goal through two games, as Minnesota has been effective at punching in touchdowns while simultaneously struggling with turnovers en route to an 0-2 start. Punt returner Brandon Powell fumbled in field-goal range in the first quarter, and Justin Jefferson had a fumble go through the end zone for a touchback in the final minute of the first half, erasing what could have been a pair of potential opportunities for the 29-year-old kicker.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Dip in efficiency during 2022

Joseph converted 26 of his 33 field-goal attempts and went 40-for-46 on point-after tries over 17 games in the 2022 regular season. Joseph got off to a rough start during his second season with Minnesota, going 9-for-14 on field-goal tries over the first seven games. He did finish strong by not missing a single field-goal attempt in all but one of the final 11 games, including the wild-card loss to the Giants. However, Joseph particularly struggled from long range this season, as he knocked through four of his 10 field-goal attempts of 50 yards or more. He thus finished with both the most missed field goals and extra points of his career, so it's unclear if he'll be re-signed before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

He added two more PATs before connecting on a game-winning 61-yard field goal as time expired in regulation. The 61-yard make was Joseph's career long, and he's now made back-to-back tries from 50-plus after missing five straight from that distance.

The second attempt came about halfway through the third quarter, where the 28-year-old kicker's try from 51 yards was blocked. Joseph's next opportunity to get back on track comes Sunday in Miami.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Busy day in win

Joseph converted all five of his field-goal attempts and went 1-for-2 on point-after tries during Sunday's 28-25 victory over the Saints. Joesph connected on field-goal attempts of 24, 28, 36 and 46 yards to give the Vikings a 19-14 lead with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter. However, the fourth-year kicker proceeded to miss his next kick, a PAT following a Justin Jefferson rushing touchdown, which allowed the Saints to tie the game at 25 with just under two minutes left. Minnesota countered by marching down the field on a six-play, 53-yard drive that set up Joseph for a game-winning 47-yard field goal. Joseph has missed three kicks over the past two games, but he's still a viable option thanks to Minnesota's potent offense.

The fifth-year kicker appeared in all 17 games for the Vikings last year and went 33-for-38 on field-goal attempts and 36-for-40 on extra-point tries. He figures to garner a similar workload in 2022, though Minnesota's new offensive scheme could increase Joseph's opportunities moving forward.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Standout effort in preseason finale

Joseph drilled field-goal attempts of 46 and 58 yards and converted his one extra-point try during the Vikings' 23-13 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday night. The four-year pro couldn't have asked for a better tune-up for the regular season, particularly boosting his confidence with his 58-yard conversion on the first play of the fourth quarter. The long-distance success is nothing new for Joseph, who went 7-for-9 on attempts from 50 yards and beyond a season ago. The Florida Atlantic product's already solid fantasy value could get another boost this season if new head coach Kevin O'Connell's offense generates quick returns.

  • Vikings' Greg Joseph: Inks tender with Vikings

Joseph signed his one-year contract tender with Minnesota on Monday, his agent Brett Tessler reports. Joseph was solid in 2021, when he converted a career-high 87 percent of his field-goal attempts across 17 games with the Vikings. The 27-year-old currently is the only kicker on Minnesota's roster, and he can be considered the clear favorite to begin the 2022 season as the starter, though another option realistically could be added at the position when offseason workouts ramp up.
