  The Jets signed Martinez to a reserve/future contract Monday. Martinez spent his 2024 campaign with the Jets' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster in late August. He's yet to appear in an NFL game after throwing for 1,261 yards, six touchdowns and one interception over 10 contests in 2022, his final year at Kansas State, and starring for the UFL's Birmingham Stallions last spring.

• Jets' Adrian Martinez: Elevated from practice squad

  The Jets elevated Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Martinez will make the trip to London to serve as the third/emergency quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Rodgers had been dealing with knee swelling all week, but he doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest.

• Adrian Martinez: Jettisoned by Jets

  Martinez was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Martinez was signed by New York in July and played in all three of the team's preseason contests, completing 25 of 47 passes for 270 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while carrying six times for 51 yards. He never had much of a chance to play a major role to open the campaign with Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor serving as New York's top two options at quarterback, but Martinez could land a spot on the team's practice squad if he clears waivers.
