Player Outlook
The Cowboys selected Brooks in the seventh round of the NFL Draft from South Carolina, and he will look for a role in the Dallas receiving corps this season. It's doubtful he'll have a prominent role, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Brooks began his collegiate career at North Carolina before ultimately transferring to South Carolina. He didn't post much meaningful production until his senior season, during which he recorded 33 receptions, 503 yards and a touchdown. In Dallas, Brooks will compete for the No. 4 role behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup, but Brooks has minimal Fantasy value if he earns that job. At best, Brooks could be a waiver-wire addition during the year.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Little usage as rookie

Brooks caught all six of his targets for 64 yards over seven regular-season games in 2023. The seventh-round pick out of South Carolina was never active for more than three games in a row during his rookie season, and most of his production came in Week 10, when he saw extra run in garbage time against the Giants. The Cowboys figure to return most of their key offensive personnel in 2024, but if Michael Gallup or Brandin Cooks becomes cap casualties in the offseason, Brooks could move into a bigger role.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Won't play versus Miami

Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Brooks once again is a healthy scratch for Week 16 and hasn't seen the field since Week 12 against the Commanders. He has split his time between offense and special teams and has accumulated five catches for 63 yards in five games this season.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Won't play Sunday

Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Eagles. Brooks will sit out for the second straight game as he sits as the sixth wide receiver on the depth chart. The 2023 seventh-round pick out of South Carolina last played in Week 12 against the Commanders when he hauled in his lone target for 24 yards.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Inactive Thursday

Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Seahawks. Brooks is listed as Dallas' fifth wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup and Jalen Tolbert. The rookie has five catches for 63 yards and no touchdowns on 64 offensive snaps this season.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Hauls in first receptions of season

Brooks caught all four of his targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants. With KaVontae Turpin (shoulder) sidelined and the Cowboys in firm control all game, Brooks saw his first targets of the season and proved to be a reliable option for Dak Prescott. The 2023 seventh-round pick has only been active for three of nine games so far as a rookie, seeing 44 offensive snaps to 39 on special teams, and it would likely take multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart for Brooks to show up on the fantasy radar.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Remains sidelined

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Won't play Sunday

Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. The 2023 seventh-round pick out of South Carolina most recently played in Dallas' Week 5 game against the Chargers, but he failed to record a stat. Brooks has appeared in two games for the Cowboys this season, playing primarily on special teams (45 percent of snaps).

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: One catch against Raiders

Brooks recorded one catch on two targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 31-16 preseason win over the Raiders. Brooks saw both of his targets on Dallas' first drive and played eight of 11 snaps with the game's starters on the field. His quiet performance could actually mean good things for his chances to make the roster, as the Cowboys rested the top four receivers on their depth chart and Brooks exited early in the contest. Even if he makes the roster, he'll at best be the fifth wide receiver, so he isn't likely to make a significant offensive impact.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Headed to Dallas

The Cowboys selected Brooks in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 244th overall. Brooks began his collegiate career at North Carolina before ultimately transferring to South Carolina. As a result, he didn't post much meaningful production until his senior season, during which he recorded 33 receptions, 503 yards and a touchdown. He doesn't possess many standout traits as a pro, though Dallas lacks quality depth among its wide receiver corps so it's a decent landing spot.
