  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Getting knee procedure next week

Rice (knee) will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his knee Monday, after which the Chiefs are expected to provide an update on the severity of his injury and his next steps, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Rapoport suggests that there is a "[small] glimmer of hope" about the receiver's outlook, which doesn't offer much clarity on Rice's timeline except to indicate that he isn't yet being ruled out for the season. The 24-year-old has already been placed on injured reserve, so regardless of the outcome of the procedure, the earliest he could return to game action is Nov. 10 versus Denver. With Rice out for at least four games, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson and JuJu Smith-Schuster are likely to lead Kansas City's receiving corps for the foreseeable future.

  • Chiefs' Mike Danna: Will play Week 5

Danna (calf) fully participated in Saturday's practice and does not have an injury designation ahead of Monday's game against New Orleans, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Danna was held out of the Chiefs' Week 4 win over the Chargers due to a calf injury. He was a limited participant in practice Thursday and Friday, but he upgraded to a full participant for Saturday's session and will be good to go for Monday night. Danna has registered 12 tackles (eight solo), including 0.5 sacks, through three regular-season contests.

  • Chiefs' Kareem Hunt: Set to play Monday

Hunter does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Saints, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Meanwhile Clyde Edwards-Helaire (reserve/non-football illness list) is listed as doubtful and likely won't be activated come Monday. As a result, Hunt figures to once again command the most touches among a smorgasbord of available backfield options including Samaje Perine and Carson Steele, although the latter could remain in the doghouse with head coach Andy Reid after fumbling for a second consecutive week.

  • Chiefs' Mecole Hardman: Questionable for Week 5

Hardman (knee) was a full participant in Saturday's practice but is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Saints, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.

Hardman was listed as a DNP on Friday's injury report due to a knee injury, but his ability to practice without restriction Saturday indicates that he's on the probable side of playing Sunday. Hardman hasn't recorded a target through the first four games of the regular season and has been limited to kick and punt return duties.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Listed as doubtful for Monday

Edwards-Helaire, who remains on the reserve/non-football illness list, is listed as doubtful for Monday's game against the Saints, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Week 5 would have marked the first week in which Edwards-Helaire would have been eligible to return, but it appears as if the team wants the running back to get an additional week of practice in before having him join the active roster. It likely helps that Kareem Hunt (shoulder) seems confident he'll be playing, meaning the Chiefs will have the full backfield complement of Samaje Perine, Carson Steele and Hunt following Isiah Pacheco's multiple-month leg injury.

  • Chiefs' Jody Fortson: Signed to Chiefs' active roster

Kansas City signed Fortson from the practice squad to the active roster Friday.

Fortson joined the Chiefs' practice squad Sept. 26 after being cut by the Dolphins towards the end of training camp. The 28-year-old will serve as the No. 4 tight end behind Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Jared Wiley. Fortson last played in 2022 with the Chiefs, during which he registered nine catches (on 13 targets) for 108 yards and two touchdowns over 13 regular-season games.

  • Chiefs' Kareem Hunt: Another limited practice

Hunt (shoulder) remained limited at practice Friday.

Hunt also was limited Thursday, so he'll presumably need to practice fully Saturday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Monday night's game against the Saints. In this past Sunday's 17-10 win over the Chargers, Hunt made his season debut and recorded a 45 percent snap share while carrying 14 times for 69 yards and adding two catches (on three targets) for 16 yards. On the heels of that effort, health permitting, he's poised to maintain a key role in Kansas City's Week 5 backfield, which also includes Samaje Perine (five carries last week) and Carson Steele (two carries versus Los Angeles) and may welcome back 2020 first-rounder Clyde Edwards-Helaire from the reserve/non-football illness list.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Another limited practice

Edwards-Helaire, who remains on the reserve/non-football illness list, practiced in a limited capacity Friday.

The Chiefs placed Edwards-Helaire on reserve/NFI prior to Week 1, which ruled him out for at least the first four games of the campaign. The team then designated him for return this Wednesday, opening a 21-day window for him to be evaluated for a potential return to the active roster. Edwards-Helaire so far has managed back-to-back capped sessions this week, and Kansas City's final Week 5 injury report will include a game status for him ahead of Monday's matchup with the Saints. If he's listed as anything other than out Saturday, the team will have until Monday at 4:00 p.m. ET to activate him, which, if it comes to pass, could mean he's in contention to reps out of the backfield immediately along with Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine and Carson Steele with lead runner Isiah Pacheco (fibula) on injured reserve.
