Steelers' Pat Freiermuth: Regresses in loss
Freiermuth caught three of five targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
Freiermuth came back down to earth after posting his first career 100-yard performance against the Bengals in the previous game. Starting quarterback Kenny Pickett hurt his ankle in the first half against Arizona, and Freiermuth couldn't get on the same page with backup Mitch Trubisky. With Pickett expected to remain sidelined Thursday against New England, Freiermuth will likely have Trubisky throwing to him again Week 14.

Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick: Should play through injury
Fitzpatrick (hand) was a full participant on the Steelers' estimated practice report Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Fitzpatrick fractured his hand Sunday against the Cardinals in the first half but remained in the game and never missed a snap. Considering he was able to play through the injury, even if the practice report is just an estimate, it appears the star safety should be able to suit up against the Patriots on Thursday and not miss any time.

Steelers' Mark Robinson: Has career day vs. Cardinals
Robinson recorded eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 24-10 loss versus the Cardinals.
Robinson's tackle total in Week 13 was the highest of his young career, and Sunday was the first time this season he's managed more than four tackles. He will probably continue to see regular playing time with Cole Holcomb (knee) and Kwon Alexander (Achilles) out the rest of the season.

Steelers' Alex Highsmith: Gets back into sack column
Highsmith recorded eight tackles (five solo), including 1.5 sacks, in Sunday's 24-10 loss versus the Cardinals.
Highsmith's tackle total in Week 13 was a season high, and he registered in the sack column for the first time since Week 9 versus the Titans. He's had a down year compared to his fantastic numbers in 2022, but Highsmith and T.J. Watt still make for a formidable pass-rushing duo.

Steelers' Mykal Walker: Steelers' leading tackler vs. Cards
Walker recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 24-10 loss versus the Cardinals.
Sunday's game was the first in which Walker managed a double-digit tackle total since Week 8 of last season. He should continue to be heavily involved as long as Cole Holcomb (knee) and Kwon Alexander (Achilles) remain sidelined.

Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick: Tending to fractured hand
Fitzpatrick sustained a fractured left hand during Sunday's 24-10 loss versus the Cardinals, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Despite breaking his hand in the second quarter, Fitzpatrick played all 63 of Pittsburgh's defensive snaps in Week 13. He also expects to play Thursday versus the Patriots, and he still projects as a reasonable IDP option.

Steelers' Mitch Trubisky: Confirmed for Week 14 start
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Trubisky will start at quarterback Thursday against the Patriots, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Trubisky will step in for his first start of the season as a replacement for Kenny Pickett, who exited Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals with a high right-ankle sprain and underwent surgery Monday. Though Tomlin clarified that the injury won't end Pickett's season, the second-year signal-caller is expected to miss "a couple weeks," according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Trubisky thus could be in line for an additional start or two beyond Thursday's game, which features a matchup of two teams who both rank in the bottom third in the league in both points and yards per game. Though Trubisky has shown flashes of fantasy relevance in the past thanks to his scrambling ability, he hasn't been particularly impressive over roughly five quarters of work while filing in for a banged-up Pickett this season. Across those three appearances, Trubisky completed 29 of 49 passes (59.2 percent) for 273 yards (5.6 YPA), two touchdowns and two interceptions while carrying six times for 23 yards.

Steelers' Chris Boswell: Suffers rare miss Sunday
Boswell converted just one of his two field-goal attempts and his only extra-point try in Sunday's 24-10 loss versus the Cardinals.
Boswell's miss from 45 yards out late in the third quarter was just his second miss this season and his first since Week 8 versus Jacksonville, when he missed from 61 yards away. Otherwise, he's been incredibly accurate, held back only by a Pittsburgh offense that's averaging just 16.0 points per game. The Steelers will square off against a solid defense in Week 14 versus the Patriots, so Boswell won't be a great fantasy option despite his effectiveness.

Steelers' Montravius Adams: Should play Thursday
Adams (ankle) is expected to play Thursday against the Patriots, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Adams hasn't played since Week 9, but he was close to returning for Sunday's loss to the Cardinals after closing the week with back-to-back full practices. The return of the veteran defensive tackle would be good news for the Steelers' defensive front.

Steelers' James Pierre: Injury lingers
Pierre (shoulder) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Patriots, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Pierre has been dealing with the injury since Week 12 prep but has been able to play through it. It's not clear if the 27-year-old aggravated the injury Sunday against the Cardinals or if the issue is simply lingering. Either way, Pierre's status will remain in question until closer to kickoff Thursday.

Steelers' Elandon Roberts: Status for Thursday in question
Roberts (groin) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Patriots, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Roberts suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, and although he attempted to return to the game, he ultimately had to exit for good. With the Steelers on a short week, it may be an uphill battle for the veteran linebacker to suit against New England on Thursday night.

Steelers' Kenny Pickett: Gets ankle surgery, out Week 14
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Pickett won't be available for Thursday's game against the Patriots after undergoing successful tightrope surgery to address a right high-ankle sprain, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Pickett is expected to avoid a stint on injured reserve, which would keep him sidelined through Week 17. Nonetheless, the second-year quarterback will have to miss at least one game due to the injury that knocked him out of this past Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals. The Steelers are hopeful that Pickett's decision to get surgery will accelerate his recovery, but he still will have a tough time gaining clearance for the Steelers' Week 15 game in Indianapolis on Saturday, Dec. 16. Mitch Trubisky will step in as Pittsburgh's starting quarterback Week 14, after he came on in relief of Pickett against Arizona and completed 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Steelers' Kenny Pickett: To have surgery, avoid IR
Pickett (ankle) will undergo ankle surgery Monday but is not expected to be placed on IR, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Pickett is expected to miss extended time due to the right ankle injury he suffered during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals, but by not placing him on IR the Steelers are leaving a window open for him to return earlier than Week 18. While Pittsburgh hasn't yet officially ruled Pickett out for Thursday's matchup against the Patriots, that announcement currently seems all but inevitable. Mitch Trubisky will start under center for the Steelers until Pickett is deemed healthy.
