  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Sets up GWG

Johnson had an assist, two blocks and three hits in Thursday's 5-0 win over Chicago. Johnson forced a giveaway in the Avalanche's zone to lead a 2-on-1 that ended with Zach Parise scoring Colorado's first goal. Johnson's been uncharacteristically involved on offense of late, posting a goal and four assists over the last six games. His 14 points are the most for Johnson since 2016-17 when he recorded 32 as a member of the Blue Jackets.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Adds assist in victory

Johnson recorded an assist, two blocks and two hits in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Vancouver. Johnson's shot attempt was off the mark, but the puck bounced off the back boards and Ryan Johansen was in position to backhand it in for Colorado's first goal. It was the third point in two games for Johnson, who is not known for his offense. He's up to 12 points over 55 games, the most he's had since 2018-19.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: One of each in win

Johnson logged a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over Arizona. He added one shot on net and two blocked shots over 12:37 of ice time. Johnson showed off rarely seen offense, which included a second-period tally where he attacked from the blue line and beat Karel Vejmelka to the far side for his third goal of the season. The two-point offensive explosion snapped a 14-game pointless drought for the 37-year-old Johnson.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Scratched Tuesday

Johnson was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's loss to the Devils. The Avalanche called up Sam Malinski on Monday to join them on a post-break road trip. He didn't play in a loss to the Rangers on Monday but he was in the lineup against New Jersey. Rotating Johnson and Malinski appears to be the plan down the stretch, per Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now. The 6-foot-1, 227-pound Johnson is expected to play against the heavier teams. When the Avs aren't expecting a physical game, Malinski may get the call.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Sitting out Wednesday

Johnson will be held out of Wednesday's matchup with Washington due to a nagging undisclosed injury, Marc Moser of Altitude Sports 950 reports. Johnson previously missed time with a lower-body injury but it's not clear if this persistent problem is related. With the 37-year-old veteran coming out of the lineup, a healthy Bowen Byram (lower body) will play for the first time since Jan. 4 against Dallas. Johnson's lack of offensive upside figures to keep him a relative non-factor in fantasy contests.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Hurt in Saturday's game

Johnson (lower body) won't return to Saturday's game versus the Maple Leafs, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports. Johnson was missing from the Avalanche's bench during the third period. With injuries piling up around the lineup for the team, a recall from AHL Colorado may be in order soon. Valeri Nichushkin (illness) was out Saturday, so the Avalanche dressed eight defensemen, which should allow them to at least weather Johnson's potential absence.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Posts assist in win

Johnson recorded an assist, four blocked shots, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Sabres. Johnson went nearly a month between points -- his drought stood at 13 games before he set up a Sam Malinski tally in the third. The 36-year-old Johnson maintains his place in the lineup for his defensive acumen rather than his offense, so long stretches between points aren't uncommon for him. On the year, he's produced a goal, four helpers, 37 shots on net, 29 blocked shots, 19 hits, 14 PIM and a plus-5 rating across 29 outings in a third-pairing role.

Johnson notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Ducks. Johnson has three of his four points this season over the last three games. The 36-year-old helped out on goals by Samuel Girard and Andrew Cogliano in a balanced attack from the Avalanche in this win. Johnson has added 17 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 15 appearances, though he's been limited to a third-pairing role so far.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Scores late in loss

Johnson scored a goal and added three hits in Saturday's 8-2 loss to the Blues. Johnson hadn't gotten on the scoresheet since Opening Night versus the Kings. The 36-year-old defenseman has a goal and an assist through 13 contests. He's added 14 shots on net, six hits, nine blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Johnson's physicality was one of his selling points in his prime, but he's clearly starting to tone it down in that area. As a result, he is not an option for most fantasy managers.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Pockets assist

Johnson recorded an assist in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Blackhawks. Johnson helped out on a Nathan MacKinnon tally in the third period. With two assists through four games, Johnson has done an acceptable job on offense in his third-pairing role. The 36-year-old defenseman has added four blocked shots, four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. He'll likely see limited minutes given the talent of the Avalanche's top four on the blue line, but Johnson can still chip in a decent number of blocks as long as he stays healthy.

  • Avalanche's Jack Johnson: Snags helper in win

Johnson posted an assist and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Kings. Johnson's shot was tipped in by Mikko Rantanen for his second goal of the game at 4:59 of the third period. The 36-year-old Johnson was limited to eight points in 83 contests between the Avalanche and the Blackhawks last year. He's still capable of holding down a bottom-four role, and with Kurtis MacDermid getting more looks at forward this year, Johnson may be a fixture in the Colorado lineup.
