Top T.J. Oshie News

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Not playing Saturday

Oshie (lower body) will not play in Florida on Saturday, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.

Oshie won't skate Friday or Saturday and could be out a while as the Capitals are still unsure as to the severity of his injury. Oshie has 10 goals and 18 points in 38 games this season. Look for Tom Wilson to move up to the first line alongside Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin during Oshie's absence, while Sonny Milano could see time on the second power play.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Sustains lower-body injury

Oshie needed help getting to the locker room after sustaining a lower-body injury Thursday versus the Lightning, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

Oshie had to crawl to the bench and then required assistance to go down the tunnel late in the third period. The 37-year-old, who is four games away from 1,000 in his career, may miss time, as he did not sustain any contact when he was injured. Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports Oshie will be further evaluated Friday.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Unlocks scoring milestone

Oshie converted a power-play chance to pick up career goal No. 300 in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens. "This one means a lot," Oshie said in a report by Sean Farrell of NHL.com. "Coming into the year, the last couple of years I've had a lot of time out of the lineup from injuries. I don't really have many milestones or goals that I really set for myself, but this is one coming into the year that I wanted to reach, so it feels good."

Oshie's milestone goal gave the Capitals a 2-1 advantage through the first period, but there would be two more ties ahead of Aliaksei Protas' game-winning tally. It seems like Oshie is rounding into vintage form based on eight goals and four assists -- with six of them being power-play points -- through 15 games in 2024.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Stays warm with helper

Oshie posted an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canucks.

Oshie started a play that resulted in Alex Ovechkin's second-period tally. Since returning from an upper-body injury in mid-January, Oshie has racked up 11 points over 13 contests, including five power-play points in that span. The 37-year-old is always an injury risk, but that level of production can't be ignored in fantasy. On the year, he's managed 15 points, 68 shots on net, 47 hits, 32 blocked shots, 34 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 34 outings.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Continues power-play productivity

Oshie had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Bruins.

Oshie potted a power-play goal 1:05 into the second frame that stood as the winner. At 37, the forward's best days are behind him, but seven of his 14 points this campaign have come with the man advantage. Five of those are PPG, which ties him with Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome for the team lead. Oshie may be a guy who can help you in that category. That is if you can afford the drag from the rest of his game. He has a minus-10 rating and only nine goals on the season. On a positive note, Oshie is only nine contests from recording his 1,000th NHL game.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Sixth career NHL hattie

Oshie scored a hat trick Thursday in a 5-2 win over the Blues.

It was the sixth NHL hattie for Oshie, who has six points, including five goals, in his last four games. He opened the scoring while on a first-period power play. He won a puck battle in the left faceoff circle and wired a wrist shot over Jordan Binnington's left shoulder. Oshie's next goal, which was an easy finish on a tic-tac-toe play, pushed the lead to 3-1 and stood as the winner. His last goal went into the empty net. Oshie started the season with two points in his first 19 games, but he has eight points (six goals, two assists) in his last seven games. Hot is hot, even at 37 years old.

  • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Pots game-winner Saturday

Oshie scored the game-winning goal on four shots while adding two hits, a blocked shot and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

The veteran winger snuck behind the New York defense and tapped home a Dylan Strome pass midway through the third period to give Washington its only lead of the afternoon. Oshie's had trouble staying healthy since late November, playing only six of the Caps' last 23 games. He has just three goals and five points in 23 contests this season but still has a top-six role and spot on the first power-play unit when he's on the ice, and the 37-year-old might be able to put together a solid second half.

Oshie hasn't played since Dec. 16 versus Nashville due to his upper-body issue. Although the Capitals will surely be happy to have him back, fantasy managers shouldn't need to track Oshie's status -- he's collected just four points through 21 contests this season.

It's been a disappointing start to the season for the veteran winger, as he has managed just one goal and one assist in 17 contests. • Capitals' T.J. Oshie: Returns to practice

Oshie (upper body) took part in Wednesday's practice, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

Oshie was on the ice for the first time since exiting a 5-0 loss to the Oilers on Nov. 24. The 36-year-old was sporting a non-contact jersey which indicates he may not be cleared to return in time for Thursday's home game against the Stars. The 24th overall pick from the 2005 NHL Entry Draft has one goal and one assist in 17 games -- at this point it's a wait and see game in terms of Oshie's fantasy usefulness.
