Duchene helped out on third-period tallies by Mason Marchment and Thomas Harley. The pair of helpers snapped Duchene's three-game dry spell. Duchene (hand) was placed on unconditional waivers by the Predators for the purpose of buying out his contract Friday, Chris Johnston of TSN reports. Duchene has three years remaining on a seven-year, $56 million contract. The Predators will save approximately $5.4 million on the salary cap in 2023-24, $2.4 million in 2024-25 and $1.4 million in 2025-26. Duchene will carry a $1.55 million salary cap hit for the Predators in each of the following three seasons. Predators' Matt Duchene: Reaches 20-goal milestone
Duchene recorded two goals and an assist in Nashville's 7-3 victory over Buffalo on Tuesday. Duchene's first goal Tuesday was his 20th marker of the campaign. Although he isn't expected to come close to his 2021-22 finish of 43 goals in 78 contests, this will still at least go down as the seventh time in the span of 10 campaigns that Duchene's reached the 20-goal milestone. The 32-year-old's efforts against the Sabres also ended a nine-game stretch in which he didn't score a goal, while he had just one assist over that span.
