Skinner scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Red Wings. Both points came late in the game as Buffalo tried to rally from a 4-0 deficit, but Skinner's tally midway through the third period on an impressive individual effort was the Sabres' last gasp on offense. The performance snapped a brief three-game point drought for the veteran winger, and while Skinner isn't quite matching last season's pace, he still has 11 goals and 20 points through 26 contests to begin 2023-24.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Lights lamp on man advantage
Skinner scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 3-2 home win against the Penguins. Skinner sliced the lead of the Penguins to 2-1 at 5:13 of the third period on the man advantage. He also recorded a game-high eight shots on goal and a blocked shot in the contest. Skinner has two goals and an assist across his past three outings.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Nets power-play goal
Skinner scored a power-play goal in a 3-2 victory over Chicago on Sunday. Skinner found the back of the net with the man advantage midway through the second period to put the Sabres up 2-1. He's up to eight tallies and 14 points in 18 contests this season. As solid as Skinner has been, this was just his second power-play point of the campaign, so there's room for improvement there -- perhaps Sunday's performance will be the start of that.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Two-point effort against Wild
Skinner scored a goal and added an assist in Friday's 3-2 win over Minnesota. After dipsy-doodling around Filip Gustavsson and tucking the puck home on a breakaway in the final minute of the second period, Skinner helped set up John-Jason Peterka early in the third for what proved to be the winning tally. Skinner has quickly proven that last season's career-best numbers were no fluke, and the 31-year-old winger has followed up that 82-point campaign with seven goals and 13 points in the first 14 games of 2023-24.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Two helpers in Sunday's win
Skinner picked up two assists in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Avalanche. He helped set up Buffalo's first two tallies while adding four shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating to his ledger. Skinner is up to five goals and nine points in nine games to begin the season as the 31-year-old looks to prove he can repeat the career-best point-per-game pace he put up in 2022-23, when he amassed 82 points in 79 contests.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Supplies helper in loss
Skinner notched an assist, five shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils. Skinner helped out on a Rasmus Dahlin goal in the second period. The assist extended Skinner's point streak to four games (four goals, two helpers). The winger is at seven points, 30 shots on net, two PIM and a minus-3 rating through eight contests. He's seeing even-strength time on the second line, but the 31-year-old remains on the top power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Three-game, four-goal streak
Skinner scored twice in a 6-4 win over Ottawa on Tuesday. Skinner opened the scoring in the first period when he took a cross-ice pass from Alex Tuch on a two-on-one and beat a diving Anton Forsberg blocker side. Skinner then pushed the score to 3-0 early in the second when he banked the puck in off Forsberg's skate from behind the goal line. The markers stretched his goal streak to three games with four tallies (five points) in that span. It also brings him up to five goals in his last five outings. The Sabres have struggled thus far and sit last in the Atlantic, but Skinner hasn't been the reason -- he's in midseason sniping form.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Strikes on power play
Skinner scored a power-play goal in Monday's 3-1 loss against the Canadiens. Skinner accounted for the only score for the Sabres, with helpers from Dylan Cozens and Rasmus Dahlin. The goal was Skinner's third of the season, as he has gotten off to a strong start. The veteran has lit the lamp in three of the past four games while averaging a point per game across the stretch. He'll look to stay hot Tuesday night against the Senators.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Two points in win
Skinner had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Islanders. The 35-goal man from last season put the Sabres up 1-0 late on the second period. Casey Mittelstadt forced a turnover along the wall, took the puck to the slot and dished to Skinner at the bottom of the right circle. It's Skinner's second of the season, and he has three points in his last three games. The 31-year-old has topped the 30-goal mark on six occasions during his career, and there's nothing to suggest he won't hit the same height again in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Scores first of season
Skinner scored a goal on a team-high five shots in a 3-2 win over the Lightning on Tuesday. Skinner extended Buffalo's lead to 2-0 in the first period, burying a net-front feed from Owen Power. It's the first point of the season for the 31-year-old Skinner after he tallied 35 goals and a career-high 82 points in 79 games last year. Skinner should continue to offer solid offensive upside while working on the Sabres' first line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch while also seeing time on the top power-play unit.... See More ... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Gets three points vs. Columbus
Skinner contributed a goal and two assists in Buffalo's 5-2 win over Columbus on Friday. It was Skinner's second straight three-point game, giving him a goal and five assists in that span. He's finished the campaign with 35 goals and 82 points in 79 outings. Skinner comfortably surpassed his previous career high of 63 points, though he finished shy of his personal best of 40 markers, which he set in 2018-19. The 30-year-old, who is signed to an eight-year, $72 million contract that will run through 2026-27, is expected to continue to play a key role with the Sabres next season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Three helpers in OT win
Skinner notched three assists, one on the power play, in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. After a scoreless first period, Skinner picked up helpers in each of the remaining three frames, including on Casey Mittelstadt's winner 78 seconds into OT. With one game left on Buffalo's schedule, Skinner sits one point short of his first career 80-point campaign, while the 30-year-old's 34 goals are his highest total since he fired home 40 in 2018-19.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Nets 34th in loss
Skinner tallied a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to New Jersey. Skinner got Buffalo on the board in the second period, backhanding a net-front feed from Casey Mittelstadt to cut the deficit to 2-1. The tally snaps a four-game stretch without a goal for Skinner. The 30-year-old winger is up to 34 goals and 76 points, a career high, through 77 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Scores 30th goal of 2022-23
Skinner had a goal in a 7-3 loss to Nashville on Tuesday. It was Skinner's 30th marker of the season, making this the second straight campaign in which he's reached that milestone. Skinner was racing to the milestone from Feb. 18-March 11, providing nine goals -- along with six assists -- over 12 outings, but going into Tuesday's contest, the 30-year-old had slowed down with just one helper over a four-game goal-scoring drought. In addition to his 30 markers, Skinner has 68 points and 195 shots through 67 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Two points against Dallas
Skinner scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 10-4 loss to the Stars. His tally early in the third period gave Buffalo a brief flicker of hope and made the score 5-3, but four straight Dallas goals dispelled any thoughts of a comeback. Skinner remains locked in, scoring eight goals and 14 points over the last 11 games, and the veteran winger sits two goals short of his sixth career 30-goal campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Scores power-play goal Monday
Skinner collected a power-play goal in Buffalo's 3-2 loss to Edmonton on Monday. Skinner has 27 goals and 63 points in 59 contests in 2022-23, including 18 points with the man advantage. The 30-year-old recorded 63 points in 2010-11 and matched that total in 2016-17, 2018-19 and 2021-22. He's never surpassed that point total, but there's still 20 games left on Buffalo's schedule for him to do it this time. Skinner is red-hot with seven goals and 13 points over his last 10 outings.... Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Two-point effort Saturday
Skinner scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Lightning. He potted the fifth of five straight goals for the Sabres that put the game out of reach, grabbing a turnover in the Tampa Bay zone and blasting a shot past Brian Elliott from the slot. Skinner is having one of his patented hot streaks, lighting the lamp six times in the last eight games while racking up 11 points, and on the season the 30-year-old has 26 goals and 62 points in 58 games, leaving him one point shy of tying the career-high mark he's reached four different times. Barring something disastrous befalling him, it seems like Skinner will finally smash through that 63-point barrier.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Strikes twice in Friday's win
Skinner scored two goals in Friday's 3-1 win over the Panthers. The veteran winger opened the scoring early in the second period and potted the final tally of the night in the third, extending his point streak to five games in the process while getting his 600th NHL point. Skinner has four goals and eight points during this streak, and it's the third time this season he's had a point streak of at least five games. The 30-year-old winger remains on pace for a career-best season, piling up 24 goals and 58 points through 54 games.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: On three-game scoring streak
Skinner collected a goal in Buffalo's 6-3 loss to Toronto on Tuesday. Skinner scored at 16:29 of the third frame to reduce the Maple Leafs' edge to 5-3. He has 22 goals and 54 points in 52 contests this season. Skinner is on a three-game scoring streak, supplying two goals and four points over that span.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Jeff Skinner: Pair of points in win
Skinner scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Skinner helped out on an Owen Power tally in the second period and then scored one of his own in the third, which stood as the game-winner. This snapped a six-game goal drought for Skinner, and it was also his first multi-point effort since Jan. 26. The 30-year-old winger is up to 21 tallies, 53 points, 149 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 51 contests overall.... See More ... See Less
