  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Lights lamp twice in win

Anderson scored two goals on his only two shots on net while adding five hits and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Senators. Both tallies came in the third period as Montreal blew the game open, and the Habs' third line of Anderson, Christian Dvorak and Brendan Gallagher combined for four goals and nine points on the night. It was Anderson's first multi-goal performance of the season, and through 67 appearances the physical winger has produced 12 goals, 22 points, 145 hits and 60 PIM.

  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Tallies goal Saturday

Anderson scored a goal, fired two shots on net and had two hits in Saturday's 4-2 win against the Sabres. Anderson's goal tied the game at two apiece during Saturday's five-goal second period. The 30-year-old winger eclipsed the 10-goal mark Saturday and raised his point total to 20, matching last season's output in the latter category. Anderson's goal Saturday was his first since Feb. 22 and fourth since the calendar flipped to 2025. Despite being well behind his career best of 47 points from the 2018-19 season, Anderson should continue to see middle-six minutes moving forward.

Anderson (upper body) will accompany the Canadiens to Buffalo for Saturday's tilt, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports. Anderson was injured Tuesday against the Hurricanes but managed to play Thursday at home versus San Jose. Anderson sat out practice Friday and is expected to be in the lineup versus the Sabres. • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Will face Sharks

Anderson (upper body) will be in the lineup versus San Jose on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Anderson will avoid missing any time after being injured against the Hurricanes on Tuesday. The 30-year-old winger should be in the mix for a middle-six role, though he has managed just one point across his last 12 outings. Without much offensive production, Anderson isn't offering enough in terms of fantasy numbers this season.

  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Getting evaluated

Anderson is being evaluated for an upper-body injury sustained in Tuesday's game versus the Hurricanes, Arpon Basu of The Athletic reports. Per Eric Engels of Sportsnet, Anderson went face first into the boards during the third period. He needed some help to the locker room but was able to skate off on his own. If the 30-year-old winger can't play Thursday versus the Sharks, the Canadiens may need to call up a forward unless Kirby Dach (lower body) or Michael Pezzetta (lower body) get cleared to play.

  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Buries goal in win

Anderson scored a goal, added two PIM, logged three hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Senators. The goal snapped a 10-game point drought for Anderson. Despite the streaky offense, his usage has remained consistent -- he's been a middle-six option for the Canadiens throughout the campaign. The 30-year-old winger is at nine goals, 19 points, 80 shots on net, 124 hits, 58 PIM and a minus-9 rating over 57 appearances. His shot volume has dropped this season, so while he's on pace for a better campaign than his 20-point effort of 78 contests in 2023-24, a return to his peak as a 20-goal threat is unlikely with his current deployment.

Anderson registered an assist, two hits and four PIM in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers. Anderson has logged three points, 10 PIM and 12 hits over his last six contests. The pesky third-line winger has chipped in decent depth offense this season with 18 points over 46 appearances. He also has 60 shots on net, 104 hits, 54 PIM and a minus-7 rating. Anderson won't help in all fantasy formats, but he's a useful depth forward for those managers in need of some grit.

  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Scores in loss

Anderson had a goal on one shot and four hits in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Maple Leafs. Anderson gathered a loose puck along the boards out near the point, then deked Max Domi before scoring a backhander. The tally came just nine seconds after Patrik Laine's power-play marker, and it gave Montreal a 3-0 first-period lead. The goal was Anderson's second in the last five outings and eighth of the season. The four hits bumped him up to 102, the eighth time in nine NHL seasons he's dished out more than 100 hits. The lone campaign in which he didn't reach that mark was 2019, when Anderson was limited to 26 games (68 hits).

Anderson had two shots on net, one block, one hit and seven PIM in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers. It didn't take Anderson long to seek revenge at Madison Square Garden against New York's Jacob Trouba, who had delivered a clean -- but vicious -- hit on Montreal defenseman Justin Barron five weeks ago at the Bell Centre. Anderson engaged Trouba at the 1:58 mark of the first period in an old-school hockey battle. Anderson was later whistled for a roughing penalty in the second period that led to a Mika Zibanejad power-play goal, which gave New York a 3-1 lead. The two infractions upped Anderson's season total to a team-high 32 PIM over 23 outings.

The winger is up to three tallies, five assists, 24 shots on net, 39 hits and 21 PIM over 16 outings this season. • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Opens on top line

Anderson had one shot and six hits in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Penguins. Anderson was the latest Montreal forward to skate on the top line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. He joined a rotation that has included Juraj Slafkovsky, Kirby Dach and Emil Heineman. Anderson eventually swapped spots with Dach on Saturday and skated on the second line. Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis started the season with Slafkovsky on the top unit, which may be the most productive combination, but the coach has since dropped him to the second line in an effort to balance out scoring among the lines. Anderson's six hits raised his season total to 29 through 12 outings, second-most on the team.
